Sabres Acquire Center Eric Staal from Wild for Marcus Johansson
sabresparaavida replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Seems really solid to me. -
Carried by Dahlin, Cozens, and Jokiharju no doubt.
-
Is it a yahoo league?
-
He has 2 years left I believe.
-
Sure, I’ll join in

Talked very briefly with my source today, didn’t have any new news, he did say that the deal is not dead with the team I mentioned earlier, and they are still discussions.
-
I would only even consider Pietrangelo if I knew I could move both Ristolainen and Montour at decent returns.
-
It has been a busy stretch with me moving back in to UR, and classes starting today, so unfortunately I do not, but I will try to get some soon.
-
It isn’t guaranteed they will become NHL players, but it is almost guaranteed they will become a asset, though how long that lasts is up in the air. Right now, Mittelstadt is an asset, and he may be a bust. A couple years ago, he was a high value asset. It all depends on timing.

I’m curious, what do you think about Oloffson on his off wing, and going skinner-Eichel-Oloffson kahun/Johansson-2C-Reinhardt
-
That was also something I heard the day after KA was hired, and I hadn't heard anything about it since then.

Thinking about some potential lines out of the roster that we have, with a couple of places for players to fill in. The goal here is to get scoring throughout the lineup, as well as keeping that first line ticking. Skinner-Eichel-Thompson (Ideally we bring in another Rw that can replace Thompson) New top 6 forward (Granlund?)-Cozens-Reinhart (This only works if Cozens looks like he belongs in the NHL. This line should get decent minutes, but probably a little less than a typical 2nd line, and lets our now capable 3rd line out more. My source immediately after the signing mentioned Granlund as a possible target for the Sabres.) Oloffson-Mojo-Kahun (This line had some success last year and could form a solid 3rd line. Some possible alternatives are Ruotsalainen , Thompson if we add a top6 rw, Mitts if he magically develops. What I like about this line is the potential for any player to play some 2nd line time. That actually looks like a good 3rd line, something we havent seen in a while. We still need a couple players to make it work, especially Cozens not looking lost. Asplund-Lazar-Okposo (A whatever 4th line, I'm sure we add a couple forwards which will change how this looks, likely one of asplund/Lazar will be a 13th forward) Pairings: Dahlin-Miller (seemed to gel somewhat) McCabe-Jokiharju xxx-Risto Montour? (Kinda hoping they move Montour to get a forward, either part of a package for a 2C or a RW)

Both the Islanders/Bruins (shudder) seemed to have played really well in their series, and the Flyers did dominate the round robin, so I wouldn't count them out. I think the west will be one of vegas or colorado though.
-
Why don’t we play with the intensity of this canadiens flyers game?
-
The caps are on the verge of being swept, does that make them a prime retool/rebuild canidate, or do they keep what they have, despite a poor playoffs, a far fall from the Stanley cup contender they were.
-
If Rossi is there at 8, I think we take him, KA likes Rossi a lot.
-
Apparently Montour wants at least 4 years for his next contract.
-
So far this series, they have combined for 0 goals 1 assist, and 6 shots.

So Brendan Brisson had an NHLe of 58, highest in the draft, and he's not getting talked about in the top 15. I don't know anything about him, but he must have produced, what's the limitations to his game that's pushing him down? Is he an overager?

2020 Draft Rankings Not Soon Enough...

I wasn't saying that Cozens was bad, I was just pointing to some of the limitations of that stat, players where it's different. -

So Cozens is not as good as he is being touted right now if you were to look at his numbers now. His numbers don't scream higher than around 8, if there was a similar draft last year. -
If that kind of thing does happen, wouldn't GMs put 0 stock in that kind of thing?
-
Already being discussed in the off-season thread, but my source said he hadnt heard it.

Talked with my source, said he had not heard that. Thought it was funny, wondering where they had heard that.
