When looking at 5 minute majors for fighting, Sabres appear to be about average (4 way tie for 13th place) with 7 on the season. Most is the Preds with 16, while the caps, hurricanes, and stars have the least with 2 each.

You’re right, he was set to get a point more over the course of the season in 2016-2017, I missed that. I agree, it’s not impressive, but his production was not better with Okposo than it was with others, my point being that Okposo was not carrying the line.

Zemgus is currently pacing for his most productive season since 2014-2015. His defensive play hasn’t been noticeably worse. Larson with 5 points in 17 games is pacing for more ppg than any year of his career outside of 2014-2015. There’s not much if any evidence of Okposo being the one carrying a line, when they didn’t score more with him.

Not exactly a technicality. He said we don’t need any more undersized, puck-moving defensemen, and then listed the 3 of those that we already have… except not one of those 3 are undersized.

Huh. Was reading some of those rankings and under Savoie (who they ranked 3) they said “He should be seen as a consensus top-10 pick at this point and he holds the second spot in our midseason rankings.” Wonder if they meant third there, or if they wanted Kemmel rated 3 🤷‍♂️

I could be wrong, but I think that the bolded is incorrect. Eakin has played in other OT games this season, Krueger and it seems Granato as well likes to have him out for a better chance on the face offs in OT. Kinda backfired here though.

I’d look at the situations a bit more first. KA is doing a full rebuild where he tore down the team, and is taking the development route. This is supposed to take time. JBotts was trying to ice a good roster and did not come close to successful. Murray had the tank team, but that was after he spent a lot of future assets, and tryed a quick rebuild, which obviously did not work. Both Murray and JBotts were likely on a shorter time frame than KA is, because they were building to try to be successful now or next year, where as KA seems to be more focused on 2-3 years out, and building a strong team from the inside which takes time. I would hope that Terry gives more time when considering the circumstances.

Kinda interesting that you posted that article with that post, which basically states that there’s a sizeable gap in performance between LhD+rhd pairings and one playing on their offside. Based on this article, the 3 rookies in that lineup, and the lack of good defensive defensemen, our defense would likely be pretty bad with that group.

Is he though? In 7 games this year, he has a .873 save percentage (just .001 better than dell, and .033 worse than Tokarski). And this is playing on a team that had a goalie have a .951 save percentage through 7 games, so it’s kinda doubtful that it’s due to bad defensive play.

It might help when the team has less JAGs, which the prospects should be replacing. Last night we had Hayden, Bjork, Hinistroza, butcher, and several other Players playing above their role. Moving those players out should help, along with continued development. Cozens has been playing better as the season has gone on, and if he continues his progression he should be fully ready for a 2nd line center role next season and perform well in it. Tage has been much better this season, and belongs at center. Mittelstadt is still a question mark. Oloffson, Tuch, Okposo (if he plays like he has been this season) can play as top 6 wings. The forward group should be significantly better next year, through development, getting rid of the jags, as well as infusion of more young talent. If we could add another top 6 player for a year or two, I think our forward group should be about set. Our defense will need some work next offseason, Samuelson and Power should be ready to join the team, but we’ll still need to add on the right side. Goalie is a big Ol’ ? for next year. If UPL keeps playing like this or a slightly worse level, I would want a 1b goalie added on a 2 year deal. Even if he plays like this for the rest of the year, there’s no saying he wouldn’t regress, having more insurance is necessary.

With a .938 save percentage through 3 games, and a 1.98 gaa, he deserves to stay up. However, he is very unlikely to continue this, as it would be his best save percentage and gaa in any league, any season unless you count 1 game in the AHL in 2018-2019, where he had a .941, and the 2018-2019 wjc, where he had a .180 gaa through 6 games.

I thought for sure that toe save was a goal.
