It would not be a surprise to me for him to start next year with the Amerks. He still lacks a lot of defensive responsibility to be at the NHL level.

Something else to take into consideration is that Krebs was projected to be a top 10 pick in his draft until he injured his Achilles in his draft year. That likely delayed development some, but he probably has some more talent than most of the picks in his range. -

I’m hoping for a 1A type goalie on a 1-2 year contract. Not long enough to hamper the young goalies if they come on strong, and enough insurance that we’ll get some solid goalie play.

I think that’s more due to the lack of talented wings in the lineup rather than where they will necessarily be long term. In 2 years adding Quinn and JJP into the top 6 (at least Quinn) can push them back to center. Right now, of our 6 most talented forwards, 4 are centers, it makes sense that they may play on the wings some in this case.

What do you expect from: #71 Victor Olofsson?
sabresparaavida replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
No, but at least the career averages point to having an elite shot (based on the difference between gar and xgar) and he does show to be useful on the PP. he’s been playing a top 6 role for his career, but seems more suited for a 3rd scoring line with significant PP time. Overall a useful player, probably cast into a slightly too great a role. -

Perhaps he has a spot as a part of a 3rd scoring line next year. -

If all goes well next year, (mitts, oloffson, Quinn healthy, and Quinn and krebs keep developing) we could have: skinner-Thompson-Tuch Krebs-Cozens-Quinn Asplund-Mitts-Oloffson Murray?-Jankowski?-Okposo -
Have a feeling that’s just going to fuel him.

Regardless, he is still playing much better than year, currently leading the team in points. Should he miss the rest of the season, he still would have outproduced his time under Krueger.

Sabres sign Tage Thompson to 3 year 1.4 AAV Extension

So, average numbers for a 2C, but he’s playing in a first line role with 2nd line calibre players. Tuch looking like a first liner, but one winger for like 12 games probably evens out when considering he played a lot with Asplund who’s more of a third liner. More ice time, but harder matchups than typical 2Cs, which makes it hard to say for sure If he would produce as well as a 2C. -

It is the only position KA hasn’t put his thumb on long term yet.

If he plays before the Olympics, he becomes ineligible for the Olympics. With him already being officially selected for team Canada, in what may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for him, I’d be surprised if he didn’t go.

If they are retaining salary on those, I think we wouldn’t really need to add cap. I think the Boychuck trade gave us some flexibility to lose a bit of salary and being alright.

Honestly for pick 1 I want Wright, Cooley, Nemec in that order. If Jiriceck falls to our second pick, you have to take him. If we came with Nemec, Jiriceck, and a forward with the other first, I would be very happy with this draft. Yes it would be a little sad to focus so much on defense again, but that would lay all the blocks down for a potential best defense in the league. With a solid backend that can chip in on offense, our current core would look significantly better.
