They did a big offense vs defense charity softball game within the last week where pretty much everybody was up. Rookie camp was last week, so I don’t think it’s because of football. I think the main reason everyone is here is to show their support to the Buffalo community following the tragic shooting.

If you think that LHD is gonna be Cale Makar, at 9 he’s going to be in a tier of his own and of course you take him. I’d imagine KA’s long term plan involves keeping Dahlin, Samuelson and Power. Unless we see power shift to the right side, we’d need a Cale Makar (or slightly worse) to have a shot at playing top 4 minutes, and at 9 we’d have a much higher chance of a player making an impact if he isn’t a LhD.

The Sabres are stacked at LHD, there isn’t a LhD in the draft I would take at 9. If I were gm, for me to take a LhD in the first 2 rounds, they would have to be a tier above the remaining players. If it’s close, I would opt for the forward or rhd. At 16 I don’t think Korchinski would be in a tier of his own. Fair, but a move like that would take time, and likely not the one offseason kind.

Makes sense- can’t have on ice advertising without the ice to play on. And ASU has all the leverage here as where would the coyotes go if ASU wasn’t letting them use their ice?

By the end of the season, depending on development, that D group could very well be elite. With average goaltending and a similar performance to the second half of the season from our forwards, that would be a playoff roster.

Rooting for the bolts (gimme the better pick), the canes (rooting against rags fans), the flames, and the Avalanche.

The more I think about it, I think Asplund should be on a line with 1-2 of Krebs, Quinn, and JJP. He brings defensive responsibility and stability to a line that would free up the kids significantly.

While I’m not saying that Dahlin is better than Hughes, this argument lost a lot of credibility to me with the market value of Dahlin being set at 5.2 million. Risto got 5.1 at term this season, and isn’t half the player Dahlin is.

Worth it? Hard to say. If Nemec falls to where that trade can happen and you don’t expect Jiriceck to make it, I would consider it. But the value of 2 quality prospects is hard to beat for one slightly higher quality prospect. Possible? Also hard to say as it will heavily depend on the team/FO

He’s signed in the SHL through next season.

Out of curiosity… with the new lottery rules, if a team between 12-16 wins the first lottery, and then a bottom ten team wins the second lottery, do they still move up to second overall? Or do they move up to first overall?

This differs from the way the NHL draft lottery works though. After the first winner has been picked, the rest of the teams’ chances increase proportionally to their chances of winning the lottery in the first draw. The amount each team increases depends on which team wins the lottery (if Montreal wins the first, then their 18.5% chance of winning is no longer there and so gets split among the other lottery teams)

While he did well to start the season, he hasn’t been very productive over the back half. He had 15 goals and 32 points in the first 46 games of the season, but only 4 goals and 11 points in the final 36 (post all star break).

While I think winning the first lottery and getting Wright would be amazing, a part of me would almost rather get up to 2 and take Nemec and then in 3-4 years icing one of the best defenses this league has ever seen in Samuellson-Dahlin Power-Nemec Johnson-Jokiharju Having Samuelson-Dahlin or Power-Nemec out for 48 minutes a night is a salivating thought. And Johnson-Joki for 12 minutes poses no problems for me.

Kinda scary to think about, If this is him lacking a lot of control due to age, how’s he going to look in 5 years?

Baptiste’s best AHL year he was 21/22 and got 41 points in 59 games. Bailey’s best he was 45 in 70 or 36 in 52 in his 21 and 22 year old seasons (not counting last year where he slightly outperformed this at 25) Quinn stats 59 points in 44 games at age 20. JJP 64 points in 69 games at 19-20. Quinn and JJP are out producing their best seasons at a younger age, the worry should not be the same.

Fitzgerald, I agree. He should be in the AHL, with perhaps a call up if we need him due to injuries. Bryson however, I think I’d a solid 7 Dman. He can play both sides and fill in on the third pairing on the cheap. I think he is great in that roll. A reminder that Bjork was on Boston, and frankly I’d rather have Bryson playing than Bjork.

I agree, the only way I am going to deal Mitts is if we also brought in a good center in FA (Like Trocheck) unless we win the lottery and get Wright.
