  1. Can people stop whining about Tage now?
  2. Make Waste (of the Oilers)
  3. I hope not. He’s overpaid.
  4. Skinner has been the better goalie so far, Campbell on Saturday allowed 4 goals on 11 shots, after which he was pulled and Skinner was 31/31 for saves.
  5. Sabres played overall fairly well, but gave up too many odd man rushes overall. We got our chances, but they had a few more quality ones. Sabres haven’t been afraid of confrontation so far.
  6. Did you also watch Carter Hutton’s start to his first 2 seasons here and think he was a top 10 goalie? Hutton had more impressive games and tanked the rest of the season. 1 game is a horrible sample size for a goalie.
  7. Considering he wanted to raise up the pitchforks before the game about Anderson starting, maybe this is his way of saying he’s eating crow?
  8. Sam Reinhart’s best season with the Sabres (which he was playing wing for mostly): 22 goals and 65 points in 82 games Tage Thompson last year: 38 goals, 68 points in 79 games.
  9. I think Bryson demonstrated that he belongs in the NHL last year even if his roll should be as a 6/7. I’d pick him over Fitzgerald and Pilut despite not a great pre-season. JJP over Hiney is a more debatable call, as JJP has not proven himself in the NHL. Last year, JJP started slow in the AHL last year, and once he adjusted to the league he dominated. Granato definitely believes in development through exposure, and it seems that he values the growth JJP will have over the struggles we may see early on. It wouldn’t surprise me if Granato saw JJP as a borderline NHLer now but could be a strong 2nd liner by season end. Of course, he also could think JJP is ready for that third line roll now, more so than Hiney.
  10. Many weirdos in this thread if you know what I mean /s
  11. I would definitely say it’s more than a small margin: over the last 2 years, Robertson had had 124 points in 125 games with 58 goals, compared to Norris’ 90 points in 122 games and 52 goals. Robertson was averaging .25 more points per game than Norris, that’s not particularly close. (Pretty much the difference ppg wise of Tage Thompson and Okposo last year)
  12. I take this loss with a grain of salt, Columbus was playing with a lot more proven NHL talent than we were.
  13. So a team down 5 defensive starters going into the game, as well as the 3 DT, losing the #3 Outside CB, as well as not having/losing 3/5ths of a starting line, and having the top 3 receivers, and #1 TE limited due to cramps/injuries/hear and sticking tight to/dominating the play against a purported top 5-10 team is now one of “7-8 teams?” There are not 7-8 teams that could have performed that well in that state.
  14. I agree with the above sentiment, I think if JJP wins a starting lineup job it will likely be from Vinny.
  15. Anderson ~20 games where his stats are subpar, but the team plays well and the Sabres have a positive record with him. Comrie ~40 games where his stats are solid and the team plays well enough to have a decent record. UPL ~18 games with good save percentage and GAA, but the teams record leaves some to be desired. Subban/Houser 3-4 games total as fill in for injuries
  16. I’d guess they switch whoever it is in the third game.
  17. Something I’d like to throw in for Liger’s argument. If your point totals are accurate, that would give Detroit a high end forward group. Last year, 159 forwards hit 40 points or more, which averages to just under 5 a team. This would give them 7+ forwards. 40 points from a third liner is really good.
  18. When Sam Reinhart signed that contract, he had a Career high of 65 points, it’s only after he signed that he reached 82 points.
  19. He was invited to the Sabres prospect tournament
  20. The tear down wasn't even finished a year ago, Eichel was still a member of the Sabres. IMO, not enough time to see if the GM is being aggressive. But this question is a little silly, because it implies that there were aggressive moves during the tear down, and your original point said since the Hall fiasco, and the majority of the tear down came after that. I also wouldn't consider getting assets with a cap dump an aggressive move to build the team, as it is committing to a long term rebuild. The Sabres wouldnt really be any better with Monahan, unless he recovers in a big way.
  21. How could we forget? You only bring it up every other week. 🙂 (Just poking some fun)
  22. I have a lot more confidence in KA and his plan than I have had for the past few regimes. Time will tell for sure, but the drafting and development plans appear to be significantly ahead of were we've been in the recent past, and that will bring more success down the line. This is the deepest roster we've had in the past 10 years IMO, and the prospect pool is stacked. We're heading in the right direction, and I think it's only a matter of time until that shows up in our record.
  23. I would have done that trade from the Sabres end. If Monahan is over his hip injuries and returns to form, we get a good player for a year as well as a first down the line. If not, then the Amerks get a good C and the Sabres get a first down the line. I don’t see much of a downside.
  24. I'm expecting about 40 points in a middle 6 roll. I think his power play time goes down by about half, and his even strength dips slightly, while his PK time remains about the same. Im thinking he ends up about 6th in Sabres forwards in TOI/G.
