Rodrigues is not eligible for the AHL playoffs.

I’ve lived in both Buffalo and Rochester and the areas felt exactly the same. I got the same “vibe” in both places. Similar people, similar pace of life, attitudes etc. You can’t make an argument in my mind that Rochester isn’t WNY based on culture. It’s strictly a geographical argument. But I always felt the Rochester metro was the borderline. Geneva isn’t WNY. But Canandaigua is basically a suburb of Rochester so I’d throw them in.

Couldn’t disagree more. Rochester’s downtown population had practically tripled in the last 10-15 years and there’s been billions of dollars of investment. I work downtown and it’s night and day (for the better) compared to even 5-10 years ago. Buffalo’s downtown has been developing at a faster pace, though. Both have made huge strides.

I’m not really sure what your point is or why you’re going off on such a tangent. I simply commented that tickets are too expensive, and they are. I hear this all of the time when I speak to casual fans who may only go once or twice a season. Season tickets are still a good deal, but single game tickets are not. Also, tbe team has been garbage for close to a decade. People want to watch a winner, no matter the level. They finally have a good team this season, so I’m sure February and March will have some larger crowds.

SMG manages the building, not the city.
-
Ticket prices are too expensive. And they barely market the team.

Nothing in my post had anything to do with Rodrigues.

No he’s an NHL player. Criscuolo was sent down and Moulson waived.
-
Sexton even said they’re not going to raid the Amerks. If people are expecting a mass of call ups from Rochester it’s not happening this season. They’re preparing that team for a playoff run.

Kyle Criscuolo, Botterill's canary in the coal mine

He’s by far the Amerks best forward. Selfishly I hope he doesn’t stay up too long but he’s earned it. -
Let me get this straight. I’m arguing with a guy who has seen Ullmark play once in the last two years? LOL. You can’t make this stuff up. Incredible. He’s a good AHL defenseman but he’s on a PTO right now. At best, he’s sign an AHL contract. He doesn’t have a future with Buffalo.

You don’t need to teach me or make me understand anything about hockey or statistics. I’ve provided his stats from 2 full AHL seasons. To say I’m giving incorrect stats is absurd. I’m really not even sure what you’re talking about, none of it makes any sense. Fact: His SV% last season was a mediocre 24th in the league at .909. Fact: Every goalie ahead of him had at least 29 starts, most in the 30s and 40s. For you to say I’m comparing his numbers to someone with 1 start is laughable. Fact. In 15-16 he was 38th (!) in the league. His numbers and performance from the last two seasons are indisputable. It remains to be seen how this year goes, though it’s trending better.

Thanks for lecturing me on what I do or don’t understand, but I’ll have to disagree with you. I’ve been fair to him with my observations. Sorry you don’t like what I have to say. This is going nowhere so you can have the last word and explain to me, again, why what I’ve seen, which is backed up by numbers, is incorrect.

He’s also not playing tomorrow night as he was an extra after practice today. Something tells me if he was still in Buffalo he would’ve pleaded his case to play tomorrow.
-
I’m just saying what his issues are. That and consistency. I’m not saying he’s a bust or anything. On the positive side, great attitude and teammate. Generally good rebound control. Quick movements. Good reflexes.
-
Keep in mind I have season tickets and have watched most of his games since he got here. This isn’t simply based on statistics. I’d venture to guess I’ve watched him more than maybe anyone here in the AHL. So I’m not just cherry picking stats on a website. I’m using them to back up what I’ve seen in person.

We can all have our opinions. I’m comfortable with mine. I’ve never said he was a poor goalie. And he’s still young. I’m rooting for him as his success will bring wins to the Amerks and eventually the Sabres. So I’m not picking on him. I’m trying to be as objective as possible. 24th in SV% last season and 38th the year before. So far this season he has been better. I’ll revisit this maybe around Christmas. If he sustains the play he’s had this season to then I’ll start to be impressed. According to Taylor he pulled himself out even though he was expected to play. I’m sure just as a precaution, but he’s had a history of poor attitude after being sent down.

The one player that hopefully goes down that would truly help the Amerks is Griffith.
-
Read earlier. I said I think he’s a great guy and am rooting for him. But performance is reality, not what an organization thinks he might be. Coming into tonight he’s 18th in the league in SV%.
-
Whether people agree with me that he’s average or not, he’s certainly not the best goalie in the league.
-
I don’t re-watch film and don’t remember every goal he gives up that’s bad over multiple seasons. He’s made improvements this season with this, and that’s a good sign.
-
Almost every game has highlights on the Amerks YouTube or on AHL Live.
-
Yes I understand they were bad last season. But what’s most concerning to me are the weak goals he gives up. These have nothing to do with how bad the team is.
-
Luke Adam is a prime example. Justin Bailey has had his moments too. Joel Armia and Grigorenko.

We’re talking over 20 years worth of player quotes I have read in the D&C and heard in interviews. I’m not taking anyone specifically. Just a general attitude of not caring about the team’s success. The entire team he last couple years essentially had that attitude. Chris Taylor had a radio interview over the summer and was very blunt in saying the attitude and entitlement needs to change. This was from when he was a coach 2 years ago. Don Stevens has said similar things as has Randy Sexton.
