  1. Pomms was on the down side of his career when he came back... Scandella was brought in to be a 2/ 3 dman, he only turned out to be a 4/5 Montour was brought in to be a PP specialist and that hasn't worked out Skinner is the one good player who when paired with Eichel exceeded his expectations Kahun- too early to tell ROR was the right pick up, but not enough was brought in with him and Eichel and ROR wanted to be on a better team
  2. Who have they traded for since 2015 that was a sure fire good player? Everyone they pick up they have been hoping would play better than they have previously and that is why it hasn't worked out.
  3. Sabres have to stop trading and drafting for hopefully's!!! They need some proven players and if it means trading a couple of picks and prospects then so be it!!
  4. Everyone calm down. I did not say I would make this trade, I wanted to see the reaction of Sabres fans of such a trade. They need help now and don't want to waste another couple of years of Jack's prime to wait on more prospects. Yes I knew it would be overpayment to get a guy like Cirelli, but again what other options are out there. When dealing specifically with Tampa I had to keep in mind that they would only be able to get picks and prospects in return since they have no salary available. A much better option for me to take advantage of Tampa's situation would be to get Cirelli for Mitts, Thompson, and 2021 1st rd pick. Not sure Tampa would go for that though.
  5. Thank you everyone for input...great insight on what everyone is thinking. I just don't want the #8 to be a Nylander and Cozens to end up being a Grigorenko and then we are still stuck with no help for Jack and the future!! I have always thought the draft is a crap shoot, some high end players turn out to be bust, others fill their roles as role players and some no names and un-drafted players end up being stars. You really never know what you are going to get. It is all in the development between 18-22 years old. I have always thought that if you can get a young guy who has proven to have qualities you are looking for, it is worth it to give up two prospects to get one proven!
  6. I know the writing is on the wall for Cozens as being a very good prospect. You also never know what you are going to get at #8. But to get a proven player in the league that could be your #2 center for the next seven years behind Jack, would it be worth the risk to get a player that is already ready!!
  7. ok since no one has followed directions, I'll give my opinion... 2c- Max Domi, I feel Sabres could get him for 2020 2nd rd pick and maybe B prospect like Pekar 3c- Andrew Copp, could be part of a package to send them either Risto or Montour 4c- Lazar fill this role as Larrson demands too much for 4th liner
  8. There are several boards that talk about the idea but I wanted to start one specifically to get responses on what players fans would want to see in these two roles next year. In your response of player wanted for position, what would Buffalo have to give up to obtain said player? 2C options- Sean Monahan, Max Domi, Tomas Hertl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Kyle Turris, Brock Nelson, Anthony Cirelli, Eric Stall, Adam Henrique, Ryan Johansen 3C options- Nick Bonino, Adam Gaudette, Derrick Brassard, Andrew Copp, Derek Ryan, Chris Tierney, Radek Faska
  9. Simple trade of Reinhart and Risto to Calgary for Monahan and Hanifin?? Of course I pick up Tuch from Vegas for Montour to play RW on Jack's line.
  10. Can Olofsson sign a bridge deal? Because of his age would he not be a UFA after one more year of playing? I believe he needs to be on a longer contract. CAP GURUS correct me if I'm wrong.
  11. I know the board threw the idea around last year but would Turris be a good stop gap 2C for a couple of years until Cozens is ready? Turris could always drop to 3C after that. He is expensive at $6 AAV but maybe Nashville retains some salary to unload him and Sabres would not have to give up much to get him. Nashville is still loaded at center with Johansen, Duchene, and Bonino as top 3 centers. I think we could get Turris ($1million retained) and a third rd pick for Pilut and 4th rd pick. Pilut may nix KHL contract if he knows he will be on NHL roster. Nashville also has fellow country man in Lindholm on defense.
  12. Reinhart by all means is not a mucker in grinder in the corners!! He is a skilled passer and has done well in the NHL in front of the net. He has shown glimpses of having a good shot but is not the threat like Olofsson showed this year. To me Reinhart is a good 2RW who can chip on 50-60 points no matter who he plays with. When you put him him with an All-Star like Jack his point production goes up to 70-80 points. I'm just afraid of an over payment like Skinner with Reinhart getting more than 7.5AAV. To me he is not worth that. I didn't think Skinner should have gotten more than 7.5AAV as well. One dimensional wingers, they do not penalty kill or play a physical game, should not be paid more than 7AAV.
  13. Virtanen and Boeser would be great for Buffalo. But Boeser is a similar player to Olofsson just right shot compared to Oloffson on the left. I'm interested though in getting a little more grit and true power forwards. The Sabres have too many "skilled" wingers and no one that can dig the puck out of the corners for the goal scorers. Wingers Buffalo should be interested in are: Josh Anderson, (should be a good value since he had a down year), Alex Tuch, (is buried on the third line in Vegas with their recent acquisitions of Stone and Pacioretty), Bertuzzi or Mantha from Detroit also fill this role. First order of business for Adams should be who is the 2c and 3c for next year. (Im sure he wants to start Cozens on the wing, either 2nd or 3rd line) So who is the best options for 2C and 3C?
  14. Thinking longer termand contract AAV, which two players do you want to be on the Sabres in three years? Olofsson, Reinhart, or Kahun? Eichel, Cozens, and Skinner are not going anywhere, so who else fills out your top six?
  15. Would a Reinhart for Boesser trade be a straight up trade or what team would have to add pieces?
  16. 1. Mario Lemieux- Was so dominate with size and skill. 2. Brett Hull- (St Louis days)- shot was so deadly 3. Theo Fluery- always loved his determination and feistiness for how small he was 4. Mike Richter- favorite American born goalie growing up 5. Al MacInnis- hard shot great passer
  17. I'd rather have Tuch and Anderson on my top 2 RW then what we would have to pay Reinhart!!
  18. I feel GMKA will want to shed a few of the light weight "talent" and get a few more hard working types in the line up. So who is the Core for the next 3 years. Eichel, Olofsson, Dahlin, and Joker to me are the only untouchables. Reinhart, Skinner, Kahun, Risto, and Montour are good pieces but also are good chips to trade and build the team he wants. Cozens, Mitts, and Thompson are prospects but nothing he should rely on. With having a pretty clean slate to work with this off season, I expect the 20-21 team to look different and definitely have some more toughness.
  19. If we can get Sam for 6-6.5 million then I keep him. If not Id rather have two guys like Tuch from Vegas and Anderson from Blue Jackets.
  20. it is Ullmark
  21. Your top draft pick could end up being Nylander, Grigorenkp or Girgensons? Unless it is a top five pick, I would always look at trading pick for a young proven player already in the NHL.
  22. Revisiting thread... Would you trade rights to Montour plus prospect/pick to Montreal for rights to Domi? Would you trade Mitts and 2nd rd pick to Blue Jackets for rights to Anderson? Sign Domi to 6 year $6 million AAV contract. Sign Anderson to 4 year $4.5 million AAV. Sign Reinhart to 7 year $7.5 million AAV. Sign Olofsson to 3 year $4 million AAV. Top six would consist of line like: Olofsson- Eichel- Anderson Skinner- Domi- Reinhart
  23. I think I would have to do the trade...the return was huge and they filled lots of roster holes instead of taking just one guy. I loved Lindros but that return was unbelievable. Ricci was a young, point per game center Duchene was a mid 20's point per game defenseman Simon was still in the OHL, but was a big time prospect Forsberg played in Sweden for two years after the trade and then became an instant star once he hit the NHL Huffman and Hextall were throw ins to fill roster spots. Nords also recieved the next two first round picks which became Nolan Baumgartner and Jocelyn Thibault, (who was latraded three years later to get Patrick Roy)
  24. I think Calgary will disappoint again this year and look to make changes as well. I think Sam and Lindholm are pretty similar players, Lindholm plays center which is why I would rather have him, and also on a better contract than what Reinhart will probably demand. Miller would fill in as a 2nd pair when they lose Brodie to UFA this summer. Bennett would be a 3rd liner with Buffalo but adds the edge this team needs. In fact I would even throw in a 2021 2nd rd pick or Casey Mitts.
  25. Never been a huge fan of Sam's game but I get disappointed more and more each game. He's has good hockey IQ and can see the game well, suits well for the slower AHL/Jrs where he dominated. I just don't feel he will be able to be a force without riding Jack's coat tail. He does not have good speed, can't create any offense on his own, does not play the body and plays poor in the defensive zone. The only way I would sign him if I were a GM would be for my 2nd line RW at $5.5-$6 million and only expect 55-65 points each year. Like someone else stated earlier. I don't want the Sabres core of "big money contracts" for the next 5 years to consist of Jack, Skinner, Sam, and Dahlin. I believe the obvious one to be moved and try some new blood in the dressing room would Sam. Sweetlou special: Trade idea... Reinhart and Miller to Calgary for Lindholm and Bennett? Who says no, or is this fair value?
