Here's another useless thread for Zamboni!! Of course Sabres would have to make a trade with Vegas to get their 3rd pick back for some of the offers. But I would be more interested in giving up the 2nd rd pick and sign a player in the $2-4 million range. With Carolina offer sheeting Kotkaniemi last year to that ridiculous contract together him out of Montreal, could the Sabres pull such a move this year to a team that is up against the cap. Here are some options that KA would have in the RFA market. Top tier- Matthew Tkachuk- LW, Flames will have cap space and would cost 4 1st rd picks to sign. But boy would he look good in a Sabres uniform Brock Boeser- RW, Canucks have some space so he is either traded at deadline or re ups with Canucks. I think Jack Quinn will have same trajectory as Boeser. Jason Robertson- LW/RW, Stars have cap space so look for him to sign for $6-7 million AAV Kevin Fiala- LW, Wild arguing to be cap strapped. Plays a similar game to Skinner so don't think it would be a good fit. Middle six- Kasperi Kapanen- RW, Penguins have a ton of cap space but also don't know what they are going to do with their UFA's. Would be a good 3rd RW who I would give a 2 year contract at an AAV of $4million. Miles Wood- LW, coming off an injury but would be a solid 3rd LW. Can score and play a physical game. Born in Buffalo and dad played here. NJ has cap space but could Sabres pry him away with a lucrative offer. Maybe a 5 year term with salary going from 5, 4, 4, 3.5, 3.5 so AAV would be $4million and compensation would be 2nd rd pick. Jesse Puljujarvi- RW, not a lot of cap space for Oilers. Maybe he wants a fresh start on a team that he knows he will get an opportunity. Kaapo Kakko- RW/LW- Rangers have cap space but would they match a $3 to $4 million contract. Offer him a 1 year deal at $4million and put him on 3rd RW with Cozens. Owen Tippett- RW, Panthers have some cap space but would they match a $2 to $3 million contract. Offer him a 1 year deal at $3million and put him on 3rd RW with Cozens. Mathieu Joseph- Forward, Lightning have no cap space. Offer him a 3 year contract with an AAV of $3 million. Bottom six- Nicolas Roy- C/RW, Vegas has no cap space. Offer him 2 year contract with an AAV of $3 million. Brett Howden- C,Vegas has no cap space. Offer him 2 year contract with an AAV of $3 million. Nicolas Aube-Kubel- RW, Colorado has space. I would offer him a $1.3million AAV with no compensation given up. Good 3rd or 4th line winger who plays with an edge. Defense- Ethan Bear- RD, Carolina probably signs both but they also have Deangelo at RD to sign. Would be nice to get another young RD. Noah Dobson- RD, Islanders have some space but they have Barzel and Walstrom to sign next year. Timothy Liljegren- RD, Toronto will have no space. Offer him a 2 year deal with an AAV of $2.5 million Vitek Vanecek- Goalie, Washington has two options to choose from with both goalies being RFA's. Give him a 1year offer at $4 million and say, "prove you can be a starter in this league.

kind of win win for Sabres tonight!! If Sabres win, they beat Eichel in his return and Vegas doesn't pick up any points which hurts their playoff chances in a tight division. If Sabres lose, they don't pick up any points and help solidify another top5 pick. -
Be the GM and get us to the cap floor next year

hockey trades and seasoned vets https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3111311 -
Would you trade Olofsson to the Canadiens for Alex's little brother Luke and a 2nd or 3rd rd pick? He seems to be doing well at BU and could be another power forward for Sabres in 2-3 years.
-
I think Quinn and JJ start the year in AHL and get NHL action during injury call ups. We need to add some veteran leadership with winning pedigrees to help Cozens, Dahlin, Mitts, Krebs and Tage. I'd rather see them winning and developing a 200ft game in the AHL and then come up and fit in and not be overwhelmed.
-
My forward would be Dustin Brown. One year contract at $4-5 million. Probably over payment but he has won 3 cups so not really a goal for him anymore. LA won't resign him, as they are bringing in their younger players. He is from Ithica, so he has a chance to finish his career close to home. My defenseman would either be Josh Manson or Eric Gudbranson. Both are stay at home and physical, need someone to play alongside Power. Goalie I'm thinking of trading for Varlomov or overpaying Holtby to come here for two years.
-
I believe if KA would have his druthers, he will bring in a couple more vets this off season and let Krebs, Paterka, and Quinn start the year with the Amerks. Quinn could be the exception if he is just lights out in the pre season.
-
Pair Risto with a solid defenseman and I still would have him only team.
-
Although the last 10 years have been futile, who would be in your all 2000's Sabres team! Forwards- Vanek, Eichel, Pomminstein Satan, Briere, Reinhart Hecht, Drury, Tuch Foligno, Gaustad, Gionta Defense- Dahlin, Numminen McKee, Risto Spacek, Rivet Goalies- Miller, Biron, Hasek extras- forwards- O'Reilly, Afinogenov, Connolly defense- Tallinder, Campbell

Who says a fight can't fire up a team!!! Great job Fitz!
-
Add Zach Sanford to the list. Played with Tuch at Boston College. Big winger who can add scoring to 3rd or 4th line.

GDT: Sabres @ Leafs 7:30pm, 3/2/2022, on 📺 and 📻

Maybe a nice entertaining game to watch as Leafs win 7-5. Don't see how Buffalo's defense will hold up against the top two lines. -
yes you still need talent. I'm just saying there is not a team in the league that shows any fear of playing the Sabres. Tampa's recent run the last two years also proves that you need jam in order to win. Tampa couldn't win with all their talent until they got the jam players on the third and fourth lines.
-
More bottoms guys that can add jam next season. Just let them be on the team and dress them against the other physical teams. Curtis Gabriel, Zach Aston-Reese, Noel Acciari, Trevor Lewis, Ryan Carpenter, and Carter Rowney.
-
Sabres traded Foligno away in summer of '17. There has been no physical presence on the team since then!!
-
See how Bolts are a team and stick up for each other. It's been years since the Sabres had any jam in their game!!
-
KA please just add some toughness to the bottom six and defense
-
better option than Eakin has been for the past two years!!
-
Jankowski numbers- had a really good year in 18-19 https://www.nhl.com/player/mark-jankowski-8476873

corrected
-
my take with one from each category and a couple of trades https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3085989
-
Is he a better option than Jankowski? I think KA should bring him back to fill in 4th line center, 2 years at $1million AAV
-
comprised a list of more realistic options. Wanting see who fans are most interested in?
-
Who should the Sabres be looking to add this off season, and who fits best in allowing young players to still play and develop? What type of contract would it take to get these players to sign with Buffalo? As a fan, pick one player from each category for KA to add!! 1. KA needs to add one more forward who is a vet and proven point getter. options- RW- Dustin Brown- 1 year deal $2.5million AAV- local guy who might cherish the idea of finishing his career close to home. Good mentor for young players. RW- Phil Kessell- 1 year deal $4million AAV- good playoff pedigree, he'll likely sign with a playoff contender for cheaper if he wants to get back into playoffs. LW- Reily Smith- 2 year deal $4.5 million AAV- can Tuch convince him to come and get Buffalo over the hump, from Toronto so would be getting closer to home RW- David Perron- 1 year deal $2.5 million AAV- still could at depth scoring on 3rd line 2. add some team toughness and scoring to bottom six- options- RW- Cal Clutterbuck- 1 year deal $2.5 million AAV- fourth line guy who hits and scores, from Wellend, ON RW- Calle Jarnkrok- 2 year deal at $2.5million AAV- good 3rd or 4th line energy winger can score 15 goals RW- Vinnie Hinostroza- 2 year deal at $1.5 AAV- good 3rd line RW, needs to stay healthy LW- Nic Deslauriers- 2 year deal at $1.5 million AAV- need toads some toughness and protection for young players LW- Mason Marchment- 3 year deal at $2.5 million AAV- perfect 3rd line winger who can score and hit 3. defensive help- options- D- PK Subban- 1 year deal $3.5 million- provide depth on RD D- Justin Shultz- 2 year deal $4 million AAV- 2nd or 3rd pair RD D- Eric Gudbranson- 2 year deal at $3million AAV- add toughness to 2nd or 3rd RD D- Jan Rutta- 2 year deal at $3million AAV- solid stay at home defenseman D- Josh Brown- 3 year deal at $3million AAV- solid stay at home defenseman 4. sign a veteran starting goalie- options G- Braden Holtby- 2 year deal $4million AAV- has had a good bounce back year in Dallas and wants to be a starter G- Pavel Francouz- 2 year deal at $3 million AAV- has never been a starter but good numbers for backup G- Ville Husso- 2 year deal at $3.5million AAV- nice bridge contract for unproven but solid goalie 5. wishful thinking guys to make a free agency splash- options- LW/RW- Filip Forsberg- 6 year deal at $9 million AAV- could come to Buffalo to play with fellow county men in Dahlin LW- Tomas Hertl- 5 year deal at $7 million AAV- good goal scorer to help young centers LW- Max Domi- 3 year deal at $4 million AAV- could look for term instead of higher AAV C- Andrew Copp- 5 year deal at $5 million AAV- just beginning to take off as solid two way center C- Vincent Trocheck- 4year deal at $6million AAV- just think he would be the perfect center for this team D- John Klingburg- 3 year deal at $6million AAV- chance to play alongside fellow country man in Dahlin D- Josh Manson- 3year deal at $5million AAV- groom Power into a solid two way defenseman RW- Bryan Rust- 4 year deal at $5million AAV- solid two way winger
