  1. I'm ok with moving Olofsson, one of our under 24yr old prospects, and either one of pick 16 or 28 if we can get another vet player who still has term, or is a RFA who Sabres would control rights. Sabres need to understand that you need a good mix of proven vets and young players in order to succeed. It doesn't have to be Matthew Tkachuk but Sabres need a player like him. Is there any other player like him who could be had? I'm starting my research now.
  2. Can Tuch convince MAF to come to Sabres for two years. KA can give him $7.5 AAV. Good mentor for young goalies and another great locker room guy.
  3. I like him as a player, just don't know what term he wants. He rejected a 4 year $10million extension by Sens. Would he come to Buffalo for a 4 year $13million contract?
  4. Little girl singing anthem not shy...a little over sung though...
  5. Has KA identified another Tuch like player that would love to be closer to home and play for Buffalo? Iafallo from Eden won't be moved by LA. Joel Farabee from Syracuse just re upped with Flyers. Sean Kuraly with Columbus hat NTC with Columbus. Dustin Brown set to retire. Would have loved him in Sabres uni for one year to help mentor kids. Nick Foligno has NMC with Boston. Andrew Poturalski is an UFA from Williamsville. Had a great year in AHL. Could be a nice depth signing for Amerks, and always a chance to get called up to your home town. Justin Bailey is from Buffalo and could also be a nice depth signing for Amerks as well. Miles Wood is an RFA and would look great in a Sabres uni. I would trade Olofsson, R2and Fitzgerald to NJ for Wood and McCloud.
  6. Nylander replaces Johnny Hockey on top line line with fellow Swede Lindholm.
  7. Arizona has seven picks in the first two rounds of this years draft, they will have some good young talent in a couple of years. Matthews will be in Arizona in a couple of years as they will throw $15million a year at him because they know what a draw he would be for that franchise. Between jersey sales and helping solidify getting a new arena, I see Matthews saving Arizona like Gretzky did with LA and California teams.
  8. Nylander to Calgary for Toronto native and RFA Mangiapane. Toronto signs Mangiapane to 5 year $5 million extension.
  9. Hall clearly sets pick to free Tavares.
  10. wow officials actually made the correct call on that interference!!
  11. If the offer sheet gives you a player that puts the team in the top echelon of the league you may make the trade. Why? Because all the picks would be late 1st rd picks.
  12. Have seen different topics regarding off season moves and what the team needs to upgrade. Some say Quinn, Krebs and Peterka will be on the opening day roster. This one I don't agree with. I feel in order for the Sabres to take the next step, Krebs and JJP need to start in AHL. Need a year like how Thompson spent a year developing his game. There have been many opinions on Olofsson. Do we trade him? Others have said you can't trade him, he scores goals and the Sabres need goal scorers. I would trade him if you are bringing up Krebs, JJP, and Quinn. If you keep him, sign him for one year and then trade next year. Mitts was set to have a break out year, but injuries...will he be ok as Sabres #2 center? Asplund is good defensively but doesn't provide enough offense to be a top 6? Some want Sabres to sign Hinny. Where does he fit in? So in looking at some of these ideas how do the Sabres improve if they don't make any changes? Skinner, Thompson, Tuch Olof, Mitts, Quinn Krebs, Cozens, JJP Asplund, Girgs, Okposo extra- Hinny Sorry Just don't like this forward line up and feel a trade needs to be made. On defense- Is Joker a top 4 or should he be part of a solid 3rd pair? Is Bryson an everyday player or should he be the #7? Who is KA going to add to be the stay at home, and also add toughness? What they have now... Mule, Dahlin Power, Joker Bryson, Fitz definite upgrade needed for 3rd pairing. goalies- YES UPGRADE HOWEVER YOU CAN UPL should be the back up to a proven vet for next two years. So me personally I would like to see a shake up of at least two forwards, two defenseman, and a true #1 goalie
  13. Don't have access to watch full games. I usually base my predictions on size and pedigree and not on just statistics. Going back over the past 10 years I do remember some of my predictions. I liked Boldy over the Cozens pick in 2019 because of Boldy's size. I know I liked Matthew Tkachuk the year we took Nylander. He just didn't fall to us and Sabres didn't trade up together him. The big one for me was Draisaitl. You could tell he had good speed and had an NHL body when drafted. Sabres went with the safe choice in Reinhart. In 2013 we took Risto and let Canucks take Horvat one pick behind us who I also really liked.
  14. Vasy and Tampa will not lose game 6 at home. This series will come down to if Campbell shows up for game 7 to give Lafs a chance. He stole game 5 for them.
  15. I want either Connor Geekie or Cutter Gauthier at #9. At #16 I like Jonathan Lekkerimäki or Isaac Howard.
  16. I would love KA do what Carolina did last year with Kotkaniemi. Offer sheet a high number on a one year deal. Once you have the players rights you can give him a longer term deal at a normal cap hit. Look at teams that are against the cap and probably could not match offer. Thinking player like: $4 million on one year. Then extend him for 4 years at $3-$3.5 million cap hit. Nicholas Roy- Vegas Piere Engval- Toronto or $3 million offer sheet. Then extend for term at $2-2.5 million Kegan Kolesar- Vegas Timothy Liljegren- Toronto Jacob Middleton- Minnesota Niko Mikkola- St Louis
  17. Found quote by Lazar after being traded to Boston... "I wish that team all the best. They have a very bright future with all those young guys that are playing the right way right now. You can see that confidence is growing. In saying that, I look forward to sticking into 'em tomorrow and next week." So I'm sure theses just his competitive nature. Looks like he could see the team was moving in the right direction. I would sign him for 2-3 years if he would come back. Much rather have him than Bjork.
  18. That's two horrible penalties called on Tampa that were not tripping calls. Paul gets slashed into boards and Lafs player falls over him. Hedman does the same thing that Rielly does on the other end. That is a no call.
  19. Burns actual salary for the next 3 years is $16.5 million while his cap hit would be $8million a year. That helps Buffalo get to the cap floor the next two years. If the Sabres start running into trouble the third year maybe he would be ok at "retiring" or being placed on LTIR like so many player who are in their late 30's.
  20. Didn't Lazar bad mouth Buffalo after he was traded to Boston. Don't see him coming back. Iv'e thought about the idea of Larsson coming back on a 2year deal and reunite the LOG line.
  21. I would take Burns as a mentor for Power. Sharks would definitely need to add a sweetener for taking on the contract for 3 years.
  22. UFA goalie options- MAF, Holtby, DeSmith, Husso, and Comrie all fit the two year option that KA is looking for. Still need a bigger winger/ center and big stay at home defenseman.
  23. I go back and forth on this thought every year. do you trade potential for a super star. If I were to say Sabres should give up four first round picks for Tkachuk you would say I'm crazy. What if actual names were put in place instead of picks? Would you trade Isak Rosen, Ryan Johnson, Casey Mittelstadt, and Alex Nylander for Tkachuk? I would Would you trade Owen Power, Rasmus Dahlin, Jack Quinn, and Dylan Cozens for Tkachuk? Absolutely not!! When you are trading picks and prospects it is always a gamble. I've always said if the trade puts you over the top and puts you close to a championship then you do it. Why? Those picks will be late first round picks and most likely won't evolve into stars. So at this time the Sabres need to stay the course and keep gaining assets. If down the road you have too many good players, that is a good problem to have.
  24. This only becomes a possibility if Flames resign Gaudreau. I thought of this idea especially since Tkachuk played for Granato in USDL. Tkachuk is exactly the player who the Sabres need. I also doubt KA would want to give up or should consider giving up for him. In order to get him your probably looking at Cozens, Krebs, and two first round picks.
  25. Trying to utilize the Sabres cap space next two years while not depleting the prospects and or draft picks. I want this to be for fans to list creative but realistic trade ideas for players that would fit into the Sabres plans. 1st trade idea- Vegas is in trouble next year and do not have cap space for all their current players under contract and to sign RFA's. Although I like Asplund's game and he is under a good contract for next year at 825K, I'd rather get a player similar to him that is more physical, so that is why I target RFA Kolesar from Vegas. Dadanov is a player that Vegas tried to move this year but ran into the whole NTC fiasco. Dadanov probably has the Sabres on his no trade list as well but Sabres could be middle team and even retain salary and move him to a team he wants to go to. RFA Hague is a solid 6'6" 3rd pairing LD who is from Kitchener who I believe would love being closer to home. Asplund and Vegas 2nd rd pick to Vegas. Dadanov, Hague, Kolsesar and 3rd rd Buffalo pick to Buffalo. Deal is basically Asplund for Kolesar, 2nd rd pick for Hague, and Dadanov and Buffalo 3rd for future considerations. Again Vegas needs to shed cap. Buffalo then would turn around and send Dadanov to Washington for Eller, or another team for a pick and retain salary if needed. 2nd trade idea- Florida is also in cap trouble and will need to shed salary. 3rd rd pick to Florida for Radko Gudas. Sabres defense for 22-23. Mule, Dahlin Power, Joker Hague, Gudas
