  1. "Doesnt pan out" to me means the same UPL we've seen up until midway through last season. That UPL was on the way out and if that's who he really is then even at 4.75M that will be a tough player to trade so that's what I meant by that and of course if he plays good that contract is a no brainer whether we keep him or trade him. Levi should bring out the best in UPL and vice versa so it should be interesting.
  2. I disagree but we can agree to disagree.
  3. I'm not a fan of the 5 years but I also thought he'd be getting 5.75M, pretty solid deal although I don't get of the logic saying "If he doesn't pan out it's a tradeable contract", if he doesn't pan out why would teams want to trade for him? I hope it works out for us and hopefully he can continue his late season success from last year. Not much we have to do at this point other than pick up a top line forward.
  4. We have lately imo, Anton Wahlberg, Olivier Nadeau, Brodie Zeimer, Ethan Miedema (later pick in the 4th round) but the question is why weren't we drafting these types before this as it seemed Adams only liked small, skilled forwards.
  5. As long as Beck Malenstyn is on the opening day roster I'm still more than fine with the 2nd round pick for him, he gives us the size, speed and physicality we've sorely missed. The hope is that the physical play of that 4th line also brings out the beast in Mr Jordan Greenway, that to me would be a huge bonus if we can get him going as well. Now here's to hoping we can use the rest of the money on a top 6 forward in a trade.
  6. Congrats to Adams, it took him 5 years to finally field a roster that might be tough to play against.
  7. When your 18 year old 5’9” rookie is the 1 standing up for guys there is a serious problem.
  8. I 100% agree with @inkman, since I can remember this team has been mostly bark with very little bite since the start of the 2000’s. I’ve wanted the team the L.A. Kings won multiple cups with and the Bruins also. A bunch of guys who could play solid 2 way game but could also punch you in the mouth.
  9. So what us non math nerds take from this: * If we score more than the other team we win the game? * If we win enough games we can possibly make the playoffs? About right?
  10. I’m not saying injury prone either just that the injury itself is a significant 1 and he was injured later on whether related or not is concerning imo.
  11. Achilles injuries suck in any sport. Anthony Duclair doesn’t seem to have nearly the burst he once had. I’m not sure how 20 something year olds respond to this injury. I know all sports are different but that injury is brutal. I hope you all are right about those totals but I’m not sure I’m as optimistic that he can remain healthy.
  12. In no particular order: * Tage returns to form * UPL stays the same as he was at mid/late season last year or better * Coaching is as good as advertised * Powerplay improves (Can it get much worse?) I think the roster is improved in the bottom 6, pretty similar in the top 6 as I'm adding Zucker in the top 6 to replace Skinners points which is probably a bit of a downgrade to Skinner but the hope is Ruff can get the best out of the rest of the guys. I'm not sure why when the powerplay was non existent Don Granato didn't fire Ellis and bring in a better coach. It's scary to me that we have the same assistant coaches as last year, did we bring in anyone new?
  13. 27g 28a 55p This was Brad Marchand’s point totals in year 2 and that’s who I think Benson can become but his own version of course.
  14. I think that would defeat the purpose for me but if I had to choose I’d get rid of Quinn due to the injury history.
  15. That’s a fair question but why would Benson be bumped down? Make him force someone out of the lineup instead of giving him a top 6 role. He’s 19, a few more years before a deal needs to be made so no need to force feed this. Quinn also would not be bumped if a top 6 came along. New player- Thompson-Peterka Quinn-Cozens-Tuch Benson-McLeod-Zucker If anything it makes the 3rd line even better for Benson giving him a veteran like Zucker and McLeod would be ideal imo.
  16. No I almost died on rollerblades…. Oh Nevermind.
  17. My guess would be Zucker, Helenius is most likely going to Rochester and benson needs to earn that right imo.
  18. Bringing the entire band back together in 2023 while only adding Clifton, Johnson was a total failure. He did add Byram but it was too late.
  19. I believe all of those guys offered better defensive responsibility.
  20. Krebs is now where he should be, a healthy scratch who now has to show he's worthy of even a 4th line C position instead of being handed a job without earning it. I'm not sure if he's eligible for the AHL or not.
  21. Why wouldn't they be in the cards, just curious? Farabee is a 3rd liner, we already have Zucker so I doubt Farabee , Vatrano has decent stats but a -20 player and isn't he a Skinner type with no defense, wasn't that the knock on him?
  22. That wouldnt make much sense, why wouldn't the jets just pay Ehlers and the Hurricanes just pay Necas?
  23. I'm 1 of those that disagree, although he doesn't fit the speed criteria I think his hitting game will pick up and should put up better numbers with better players around him imo. 28 points , +11 and has the physical presence when he wants to. I think the rest of these guys will bring the dog out of Greenway.
