I've said before the Fred Anderson is going to be our starter next year. Ullmark going to Car (or anywhere else) would be the 1st step in that direction.

I mean come on. If your going to tank the roster rip off the band-aid and get a move on so that I can add to my proof of you being in way over your head. Come on Kevin, prove me wrong. Get top $ for Risto, Reinhart and Eichel.

Risto's tires must be bruised and very sore by now. If we get a high draft pick (1st or 2nd rd) and a prospects for Risto, what are Reinhart and Eichel worth?

LOL, I was never easy on Jbot. I said at least he had a vision of where he wanted to go with the team unlike TM. Remember I started the Jbot do something already threads. I said RK was a bad hire. I hated the Kane, Miller and Frolik trades among other moves. My biggest support for Jbot was his better drafting and team vision. I also didn't destroy him for the ROR trade because I think he was given no choice by TM and still believe that. The better drafting is coming true. Look how many of his guys look to the core of the team going forward.

I do think they missed some great opportunities like Pettersson from Pittsburgh.

To send him to the minors yes. He could be traded.

He is probably their 10th best D. Waivers here we come.

You have no idea whether they would have taken him or not.

Not unless we get NHL players or NHL ready assets back. We need goaltending in the worst way. We need two stay at home D in the NHL. We need better RWs at the NHL level and certainly AHL centers (plus prospect centers) and LHD in the farm system. If Reinhart and Eichel are traded, we need at least one good center back in the deals.

Because Borgen is at best a 3rd pairing guy. He can be replaced by signing Luke Schenn for 800K. Risto, who may or may not be traded, is a better player and just as physical. Risto, if pairing correctly, gives us an excellent PP asset and a solid 2nd line player who can play 20 minutes plus a night. Borgen isn't even close. If traded should return a second rd pick and a reasonable prospect. Bottomline: Risto is a better all around player and has more trade value. That is why you protect him over a guy like Borgen who has 14 games of NHL experience with zero points, is already 24 and limited trade value (if any).

Different kind of players, but yes both, especially Bryson are better players.

Actually looking at our depth chart, we lost our 7th best D man as Samuelsson is a better player, younger, just as tough and has played nearly as many NHL games as Borgen. We currently have the following D with NHL experience LHD - Dahlin, Bryson and Samuelsson RHD - Risto, Jokiharju and Miller Borgen isn't better then any of these guys.

It's certainly possible, but his trade value is limited and they need bodies in the AHL.

What was Borgen's trade value? A 4th rd pick? Risto will easily return a 2nd and remove a 5.4 mill cap liability.

They will almost certainly grab Pettersson from Pittsburgh. D 4.025 mill I saw in another thread that Sea is taking McCann from the Leafs. I also might grab Connor Sheary from Wash for 735K for a couple of years, but they need at least one more goalie so Vanacek @ 716K I've finished up the draft based on needs SJ - Donato LW 1.9mill, Van - Bowey - D 750K.

no they took him for depth, a chance to compete for a job, a cheap contract and the best available player from a terrible list of Buffalo crap. This doesn't mean he'll be good enough to beat out 3 or 4 other guys to make the Kraken come Fall. We can always sign Luke Schenn for depth at RHD.

If he doesn't make the Kraken, to send him back to the AHL he'll need to clear waivers. Under the expansion draft rules, we would get first crack at claiming him. This is a very possible scenario. There are a ton of good D in this draft and with the Kraken having to take minimum of 9 D, I can easily see them having 7 or more D better then Borgen.
