  1. Tobias Rieder plays for Munich. It’s amazing how few players are still on the Sabres from when he played here. Cozens and Thompson are the only forwards.
  2. Sure, but they needed to have made a better choice. Come on guys. You need to convert those opportunities.
  3. Can the coaching staff get rid of those stupid fedoras? They look like hoods from a bad 1970s gangster movie.
  4. I think they are better than the league profile. They are the best franchise in the DEL and finished 2nd in the Euro Champions league in 2022. I went and read a profile on the franchise after asking the question. My guess after reading the profile is that they are better than most AHL, Liiga and SHL teams.
  5. There’s a little finish. Their poor goalie is under siege.
  6. Obviously the Sabres are a faster and more talented team. They seem to be winning the race to nearly every loose puck. Not finishing so far. Legit question. Red Bull is the Germany top league. What level is this Red Bull team skill wise relative to the AHL, KHL or SHL?
  7. Here is one. Mitts was the ring leader of Bryson, Cozens and new Captain Dahlin. https://www.nhl.com/sabres/video/topic/sabres-embedded/sabres-embedded-full-house-338806648
  8. Then you never watched the Sabres videos.
  9. Mitts, but he is now in Colorado. Like the Dahlin choice. He at least has earned the “C.” He is probably more of an Alpha Dog than you think.
  10. 40 shots. Impressive. Ullmark and Tokarski in net for the Sens. Fascinating!
  11. Apparently JJP was 12th in the NHL last season with 25 5 on 5 goals. How many does he score if he gets consistent 1 team PP time?
  12. So basically the same at the NHL Network. The NHL Network also had Dahlin as the 40th best player in the NHL. None of this really matters very much. Produce more points and you go up, produce less you go down. Dahlin had 73 points and he was 7th on the list before 23/24. Now he fell to the 50's and he is down to 11th. If Dahlin gets back to 70 pts and Tage to 80+, the chances of this team making the playoffs go up dramatically.
  13. He was 7th on their list 23/24 & now 11th for 24/25. Here is the current list: top 10 - Makar, Q Hughes, Hedman, Josi, Heiskanen, Forsling, McAvoy, Fox, Bouchard, and Toews. Next 10 - Dahlin, Morrissey, Slavin, Werenski, Dobson, Ekholm, Doughty, Hanifin, Halilton & Seider. Who are you kicking out of the top 10? Forsling? Bouchard? He has his breakout with 80 points last season.
  14. The NHL Network had him outside of the top 20 on their annual best centers list. Mike Johnson did say that Tage was the one player who could vault up the list with a bounce back season. They also had Dahlin as the 11 best D in the NHL. These actually sound about right.
  15. Haven't all NHL forwards spent time at center at some point in their careers be it juniors, college, AHL, Europe etc.... Usually they are the best player on their lower teams and the coaches invariably place them at center because of it. That's not to say that the NHL isn't a whole different level, but it shouldn’t be as hard a transition as people think if the player has a few years on NHL experience. Thompson is a classic example. He was a center in college. Mitts played center in high school, center and wing in college and center and wing in the NHL. Almost all our top prospects, Kulich, Wahlberg, Östlund, Rosen, and Helenius have spent time at center and the wing. I wouldn't mind at all seeing JJP, Benson or Quinn get a look at center. Watching JJP feed Stutzle at Worlds makes he thing he'd excel as a center. I like the idea of Cozens at RW. He seems to blossom there are Worlds each time he plays there.
  16. Didn't we acquire McLeod, Malenstyn, Zucker, Kube, Lafferty & Greenway to kill penalties?
  17. Benson really impressed me tonight. I know it was an NHL team against an AHL team, but i really liked Benson’s non-stop approach. We have been waiting to find our Marchand, and I think we have, but without the cheap shots. He put up 30 points last year, but his around the net game coupled with playing with better players may allow him to make as big, if not bigger jump in production than JJP and Quinn did last year.
  18. I watched my recording of the preseason game and the most impressive Sabres forwards were Benson and JJP. I know it was just a preseason game against the AHL Pens, but JJP looks like he fits TNT & Tuch like a glove. Quinn also looked solid playing with Benson and Cozens. Benson looks to have found another gear. We have been looking for our Marchand and maybe we found him, but without the cheap shots. Peterka and Quinn will always be linked together. Both tore up the AHL together as kids, put up 30+ points in year 1 in the NHL and continued to blossom in year 2. JJP put up 28 goals and 22 assists for an excellent .6+ pts/gp last season as a 21 year old. Quinn, despite missing time with 2 injuries, still managed 19 points in 27 games including 9 goals. That’s a 27 goal and 57 point pace or about .7 pts/gp. Not bad for 22. Then there is Benson. At 18, his rookie year looked not to dissimilar to JJP’s rookie campaign with 11g 19a for 30 pts (JJP has 12g & 20a). He was arguably the most accomplished junior player of the 3, Lindy Ruff said he already knows what to do and our new playing style seems designed for his game. Assuming all 3 stay healthy, which of the 3 has the best season? Define “best” how you like. Most goals, most points, best two way play?
  19. Teams must set their opening rosters by 5 pm on Oct 7th. The Sabres play NJ in Czechia on Oct 4th & 5th. I can't find any reference if the Sabres and Devils must cut down prior to their Euro games. They really can't do the 3 headed goalie monster unless they want to cut Gilbert or Krebs. The Levi to Rochester is the easiest solution, as I suspect that certain promises were made to Reimer. He hasn't played in the AHL since 2010. I doubt he wants to go back to the AHL even temporarily. If he isn't going to make the team, I suspect the Sabres will accommodate him and trade him to a team that needs a goaltender.
  20. If this becomes how the team plays all year, we are all going to be very happy Sabres fans. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5782938/2024/09/21/sabres-training-camp-byram-reimer-2024/ What do you think the plan is if Reimer gets claimed or even traded. Sandstrom is probably fine as an AHL goalie and rare NHL callup. Houser is the 5th goalie right now, but 4th if Reimer is moved or leaves. Is this good enough insurance without Reimer?
  21. I noticed in the scrimmage that the lines Lindy used were pretty much what we posted during the offseason. JJP Tage Tuch Benson Cozens Quinn Zucker McLeod Greenway Kube Lafferty Malenstyn with Krebs, Rousek and Kulich fighting for a role.
  22. https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/sports/sabres/thompson-thinks-last-year-was-well-below-his-standards Thompson - All Sabres fans agree that last year wasn’t good enough.
  23. The only question on Benson is where in the top 6 does Benson play. Zucker isn't beating him out for a top 6 winger role and Kulich isn't either.
  24. I'm thrilled that our 14th best forwards "wants to be here." I can imagine KA's conversations with Krebs' agent. Well we tried to trade Peyton to a team that would guarantee him playing time as requested. The best offer we received was from Columbus and they offered a dozen used golf balls with a BW3 logo on them.
