  1. The needed pick was to draft the big D Sergachev who went next at 8 overall. The drafting in and of itself isn't the issue. The issue with this team is roster construction and proper development. For example: Having 3 "star" puck moving D who are "great" in the offensive zone, but have no D on the roster who can clear the front of the next, cover up the mistakes of the offensive D and make a good first pass to clear the D zone quickly is a recipe for failure. Compare the skill set of this current team to the 2005/5 D group. 2005/6 Puck movers - Campbell, Numminen & Kalinin Good Defensive D - Tallinder, Lydman & McKee Today Puck movers - Dahlin, Power & Byram Good defensive D - None Other D - Samuelsson, Clifton and Jokiharju Back in 2005/6 the puck movers Campbell and Kalinin weren’t great defensively, but they made an effort and would hit someone once in a while. Teppo could do everything. Dahlin can do everything, but he is alone. Byram and Power make zero pretense at even trying defensively. Byram at least try to hit someone once in a while. Until that changes and we get a few good actual D to play with Dahlin and either Byram or Power (one needs to get traded), this team is DOA regardless of how well or don't well they draft.
  2. Kadri is looking to get out of Calgary and is from London Ont. I agree I doubt he'd waive his NMC, but stranger things have happened (Ullmark to Ott for example). I agree KA is unlikely to inquire, but something must be done to shake up this roster and culture and he seems like a reasonable place to start. @JohnC As to the contract amount etc.... No one is acquiring Kadri at the current $ amount. Calgary will be eating a major piece of the contract. The question is how much and for how long. Calgary's return on the deal will be a sliding scale depending on how much of Kadri's deal is retained. You should have realized this before posting.
  3. And how has that worked out so far? You are correct yes man Howdy Doody won’t try such a move, but that doesn’t mean it’s not the right course of action for changing the soft culture of this team. Continue to do what has already failed won’t fix this team.
  4. …… the day after Adams is fired or Pegula sells the team, whichever comes first.
  5. How long until they announce a return to video only scouting?
  6. So is 8 enough to get Adams fired?
  7. He is having a Zucker type season points wise and is very over-priced contract wise. He is 34 and has 4 years left at 7 per season. One thing about Kadri is that he plays the right way and we can always trade or buy him out in a few years. We need centers and we need forwards who play hard and relentlessly. He would hold the locker-room to a better standard. Admittedly the Sabres need help in almost every department, but Kadri would be a positive change.
  8. Bogo is a depth D. How is that going to help this team?
  9. AHL history. FYI, Satan and Briere were not Sabres prospects while in the AHL.
  10. His AHL season at age 20 was the best pts/GP by a 20 year old in nearly 20 years. Only guys like Satan and Briere, 2 generations before had comparable seasons.
  11. The season is over now anyway as Adams and Pegula won’t or can’t make the necessary changes. Who cares who they play? As to Quinn, the track record of young players who produced as his record setting pace at his age in the AHL is a very successful list. He Will bounce back successfully in the NHL.
  12. Repeat after me, we have no competent D on this roster. A team cannot win with D who can’t actually play D. It’s called defense for a reason. Sure Reimer sucks. Sure Lindy hasn’t done a good job, but no one can win with this D group. Byram, Power, Joki, and Bryson don’t or can’t play D. Dahlin is hurt. Samuelsson is hurt. Clifton runs hot and mostly cold and Gilbert isn’t an NHLer any longer. It is the worst D group in the NHL.
  13. By the way, despite my loathing of what Pegula and Adams have done to this team, there are 3 roster moves that might salvage this team. Those moves are finding 2 good defensive D to play with our top 2 puck movers. The 3rd move is acquiring a top 6 playmaking center. We move out whomever we need to make room for those 3 players including but not limited to Power, Cozens, Joki, Bryson, and others. Adams is not the man to make the right deals, but the 3 players we need are out there.
  14. While this is true and has been true for Dahlin as well (and now Byram), Power will never be even as adequate D until he learns to be more physical in the D zone. I have asked for legit partners for our puck movers for 6+ years and I’m still waiting. I will give Adams one compliment. I do like Zucker and the effort he brings. The Sabres offense is better when he and Greenway are together.
  15. They’re 2-6 in their last 8, but at least Drury is trying to do something. Where is Kevyn “Palm” Adams?
  16. Can we fire Adams now? Another blown lead. Another poor defensive, PP and third period effort. Enough Terry!
  17. Adams also tells us he’s real close to making deal to improve the team.
  18. No idea. I thought it was strange that he had no say in his staff when hired and it still doesn’t make any sense.
  19. Two piss poor teams trying to see which team can sink lower.
  20. I saw we were winning after two and thought I’d see if they could finish the drill. Sorry!
  21. Why was Reimer still in the game after the 4th goal. As I said a million times our defense is terrible and they don’t play to win.
  22. Can you imagine trading away another “center” and getting a puck moving D in return. I’m so excited.
