  1. If the Leafs could trade him for legit prospects and picks, and use the $ they'd free up on a couple legit players through FA, I think they're better off as a team.
  2. He's got zero heart. Wouldn't want him or his contract.
  3. NFL or NHL- Draft talk is dumb.
  4. And terribly obnoxious media.
  5. Sabres fans live in mud huts, and we'll throw sticks, stones, or whatever else makes us feel better! Leafs suck!
  6. You're right, it's not good there. It also is fast losing its character. It used to have some pretty cool neighbourhoods to visit. I find they're all a shadow of what they used to be. The tear down everything to build condos has killed the city badly. Replacing what few legacy restaurants and ma & pa stores that are left with chain stores and rando crap restaurants that won't stay open more than a year or two also doesn't help. The other thing I often think about is almost every city has some food and cultural thing they're famous for. Toronto has nothing to call their own. Buffalo on the other hand is known worldwide for their wings, and on a lesser basis, beef on weck. Some will say Toronto has hockey, but I think hockey is much more ingrained in Montreal culture. Other than that, you have a city that's trying super hard to be important on a world stage, but through all the pretentiousness, fails to establish a real identity.
  7. And another thing... There's no shortage of players around the league that hate Toronto as much as some of us do. It's a real thing... Join the team! https://torontosun.com/2014/07/01/josh-gorges-trade-the-ultimate-insult-to-maple-leafs PS- this Toronto sportswriter called Buffalo the "armpit" of America. As someone who lives about halfway between the two I can confirm the body odour is not coming from the Queen City, but rather from the other side.
  8. If you're a Sabres fan and don't take enjoyment out of seeing the Leafs lose, I'm telling you... you're doing it wrong!!! When the self-proclaimed "centre of the hockey universe" crashes and burns, it's pure entertainment. So if you're sitting up there on your moral high ground, try sinking down a level or two... It's great. Would I rather see the Sabres in the playoffs- sure... but Toronto losing is all the sloppy seconds we've got until next season.
  9. What about a Belichick in his prime loss? PA lives too far from the border to get it. Leafs are no different to him than Boston or Philly or any of our next tier rivals.
  10. Is this thread really OT? It's not like it's another pizza thread. There's actual Sabres talk.
  11. Only 25% retained! 🤣
  12. Says the guy who lives 2+ hours from Leafland. Try being a life long Sabres fan in Southern Ontario. Even someone just across the border in Buffalo would get enough Canadian media to know... Let alone the several times a year they show up drunk and obnoxious as all hell to the KBC.
  13. To all who celebrate, Happy Leafs Elimination Day. Every year, i have an annual tradition of reading this beauty of an article. It's aging like fine wine! https://torontosun.com/2017/09/11/simmons-vaulted-by-big-3-this-maple-leafs-team-is-a-champion-in-waiting Watching Leaf Nation melt down over the next few months will help dull the pain of no Sabres until the fall, and this offseason should be better than most. Cheers to all!
  14. Boston barely looks like they care.
  15. The mental gymnastics will get easier once you're ready to get back in the "gym".
  16. EJ was brought in because he knows how to win. Once you have this knowledge, stats are meaningless.
  17. Haha! That was unintentional but I can totally see what you mean.
  18. Congrats! I was wondering on how the detox went.
  19. NO THANK YOU!
  20. Gotta love it.
  21. Agreed. The very best: 1. RJ 2. Bob Cole 3. Danny Gallivan Some other thoughts: Some real oldtimers will say Foster Hewitt is the best. I was too young to have heard him live, but on record, I don't think he holds up to the 3 in the list. Hate the Leafs, but I'll give Joe Bowen props for his homer Leafs broadcast. He's no RJ, but Leaf fans should be thankful to have him. Watching the Campbell hit clips the other day triggered a thought... Once/if we ever get good again, I worry that the hype around the team might never get back to the way it was with RJ. He was part of what made watching the games so good. I question if the hype can be the same without him... Especially with Dud-leavy.
  22. With the notable exception of the Triple Lindy reference, there is a lot of really poor comedy in this thread. It's going to be a long F&$#ING offseason!
  23. This, for sure!
  24. If we're honest with ourselves are there really any slam dunk guys available right now? Especially one that ticks the box of needing someone to whip up this young core. Everyone has their wrinkles. I don't think Lindy is any better or any worse than anyone we could have got. All we can do is sit back and let the chips fall as they may.
