  1. Haven't had this much fun watching hockey in a decade
  2. Could be. Maybe we'll find out this year ?
  3. I would not be in any sort of rush to extend him. A reasonable number ends at about 3.5M/per for me. He started off inconsistent, but has been very good lately. Long term, I think he's a guy you're always trying to replace and I doubt he sees the end of his contract in a Sabres sweater if they ink him for 5 or 6 years.
  4. We lost the tank, unless McDavid is hiding out somewhere in the locker room. Last years last place was one of the worst teams in NHL history trying their very best not to be. Dahlin was the reward for that. The Tank netted us Reinhart and Eichel, neither of which were able to pull the Sabres out of the basement until Skinner and Hutton got here. This team was fixed through FA, not the draft.
  5. Jesus, how much effort did you put into resurrecting this?
  6. When calculated appropriately, that's precisely what they do. What we're currently experiencing is variance, or deviation from the norm. This is also baked into advanced analytics in fields that aren't new to using them. Sports are still in the infant stages of using data to make predictions, so this isn't necessarily true in the hockey context, but it is globally. You can argue the specific merits of a given metric and be completely valid, but to say data cannot predict the future is completely false. You usually can't predict what will happen next Tuesday, but you can accurately predict long-term results provided enough insights.
  7. I remember going to the Aud as a kid, but don't remember the game. Probably around '94. We were sitting a couple rows from the top, and I remember being terrified of that near vertical climb.
  8. I can tell you it definitely won't extend past the season, which also happens to be when his contract is up. No.
  9. Exactly. Hell, it could last the whole season, but if Skinner buries 45 goals this season, that doesn't mean that's who he is. he's a 30G scorer, and any plan should be based around that fact. He's been in the league 8 years, and he's hitting peak production right now. That typically means the end of a the prime and a slow descent downward. until around 30. Nobody is trying to take the steam out of this amazing season or Skinner's great year. I think we just need a longer term plan. It doesn't seem to me like we have a top six scorer in the pipeline right now, so I'd like to see the Sabres do a little shopping sometime between now and next season, so that they can carry the momentum forward. Also, it would help immensely if jack could elevate his game to be worthy of his contract.
  10. We need Jack to score more. Right now this team is a glass cannon named Jeff Skinner. My heart sank into my stomach when he skated off the ice the other day holding his wrist. it has to be acknowledged that Skinner is highly unlikely to keep up his pace throughout the season, and almost guaranteed to never repeat it if he does. Jack's a great playmaker, but unless he can consistently bury the puck at a 30G per year clip minimum, this team is going to have to find some additional finisher talent.
  11. Tage was still atrocious tonight. The guy moves around the ice like a bag full of soup. Zero puck awareness or anything resembling finesse. Just a big bumbling giant. He coughed up the puck and missed opportunities to keep it in their zone time after time. Every single time our 4th line gets on the ice, I can't wait for them to get off of it. He's by far the worst player on the team.
  12. I think maybe the Sabres should hold off on clearing house. If this kid's as advertised, maybe it turns around the entire team. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/juniors/big-read-rasmus-dahlin/
