GDT: Sabres at San Jose 10/18/18 10:30 PM MSG, WGR

It’s quite shocking. Montreal does even have a true #1 center, and yet produce more than our supposed studs. Mittelstadt is virtually invisible all year. Eichel invisible for nearly 3 games. Wingers can’t score either. -

We are not even competitive 2 games in a row. -

It’s hard to believe Montreal and Ottawa look better than us. Our offense is still just as inept as last year. -

Johnny Rain Cloud: The Sabres Need More Scoring and Scorers!
Gatorman0519 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I think Jack is similar to MacKinnon. Mac did not start becoming dominant until his 5th year. Jack is ahead of him in their first 3 comparative seasons with less games played. I think a few of the kids coming will translate into scorers plus Dahlin will develop. This is the first upward trend year we had in a while. I expect a up and down year with eventual progress I hope. It all depends on Housley. -
Olofsson AHL player of the Week and now Month

He only needs to be proficient defensively. His smart play will make up for it hopefully. But what he has we need: a scoring touch and a wicked shot. I am so sick of watching our inept offense that I cant wait to get some pure goal scorers. If we are going to be losers at least give us some electric goals regularly and lose 6-5 rather than watching our 2 goals a game snoozefests. At this point at least entertain us! -

Buffalo sports with historically bad offenses on both teams 10 years plus now. You have to score a PP goal, no consistent chemistry on this team yet. -
I think we can agree it has been a disaster. We look at best a .500 team...and after 5 years of "rebuilding"? Yikes. Another point of concern is even Mittlestadt is almost invisible vs his contemporary in Vancouver who already has 4 goals and looks the part. We just can't seem to hit on any players so far (maybe Dahlin). We look lost. We can only hope that as the season goes on we see signs of things coming together because as of right now I do not see much as far as a future contender.

Eichel is a great player, but it seems no where near Matthews, who is the superstar we were all hoping for.

GDT Colorado Avs vs Buffalo Sabres 10-11-2018 at 7pm

That was disheartening... the western road trip could sink us once again early and we'll be saying "lose for Hughes" by thanksgiving lol -
yeah no question...there is absolutely some dark cloud...an entrenched losing mentality and a terrible culture...until we beat it I call it the Drury/Briere curse because we STILL have yet to recover from a downwards spiral started 11 years ago.
-
its been a long decade...it's hard to comprehend in hockey a team being this bad for so long....someone has to exercise the dark cloud away lol
-
There is something seriously wrong with this organization.... there is entrenched losing and a weak mindset that is mystifying at this point
-
Different players same result... lifeless, passionless, boring, uncompetitive snoozer. Ristolainen was the only player tonight that showed heart.
-
It’s Lousey Housley fellas... I’m starting to be convinced.

Which Sabres will take a big step BACK this season?

My biggest question is how the absence of ROR will effect the team -
I am right there with you.

the Leafs Achilles heel might be the defense. Generally the young guys need time to season on D. My guess is they will make a savvy trade eventually to shore it up before the playoffs. They know this. They are smart. But yes, JBOT clearly upgraded our d. I suspect we may have a top 5 contenders defense in 2-3 years with depth. The forward group is another story.
-
Eichel and Reinhart-no brainers Fasching trade- embarrassing Learner trade-embarrassing Pysyk Trade-terrible...although if Asplund works out he saves it Oloffson could be a home run Pu and others- tbd Kane trade- didn’t work out long term, tbd on the assets we get back O Reilly-it was the right trade at the time, did not work out Salary Cap- mismanaged Toronto... 3 years later and a Cup Contender by comparison. The Sabres still have years to go imo.
-
This is an upgraded “patch a raft” lineup that’s temporary. There is a slew of kids in the system that much more fit JBots vision. If half of them turn out in Rochester expect another turn over like this next year, another trade and we might start seeing JBots true vision coming together. Unfortunately that means 2 more years until we think playoffs. If this is our roster 80-85 points max in my opinion but Improvment and development.
-
Jack needs a Kucherov type winger. When we get one of those Jack puts up 100 pets easy.
-
Too early to tell. Tearing down the rotten structure may be what we need and then rebuilding correctly. Seems he has a plan but unfortunately we have to be patient 2 more years.

Pick John Tavares' Next Team -- Update -- JT to Leafs
Gatorman0519 replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
We can either cry or man up.... I’ve already figured he’d land there... let’s go... going to be a fun rivalry.... imagine in a few years us and them as the top teams in our division. Let’s go Buffalo!!!! -
Subtract JVR and Bozak production and there is not a big difference for Toronto. The question will be what he can do in the playoffs vs the other two. I’m not handing Toronto the cup yet. We’ll see.
