After Sunday’s game the Sabres will have already completed 10.7% of their season. They currently have just ONE team below them in the standings. That team is Dallas who has played ONE game. So they will pass us within the next day or two. So we are basically already in the basement of the entire league. Again. So to those who keep repeating its early, perhaps it is, but the Sabres have now left themselves no wiggle room the rest of the season. They can’t have any extended losing streaks the rest of the way. Who honestly believes that can happen?

I think the Buffalo Bills have a better chance of winning the super bowl this year and then going 19-0 next year and winning it all again, than the Sabres do of making the playoffs this year. And I’m not exaggerating or trying to be funny at all. If I had to put money on one of those two outcomes actually occurring, I’d choose the Bills without hesitation.

I think posters said that in 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 etc etc etc. Could the Sabres magically turn everything around and start playing well and possibly make the playoffs? I guess anything is possible. If I had to bet any of my money on their chances, I’d say add 2021 to the list of lost years. The proof of the inadequacy of this teams talent, coaching, front office and ownership has been more than obvious over the past 10 years. Anyone claiming with confidence it’s going to turn around this year is just wishful thinking at this point. It’s not based on any measurable facts.

If the Sabres can’t take 2 games from the Caps with them missing so many guys, I think we have our answer to how this season will go.

Goaltending might be the single easiest position in hockey to instantly improve. They rely on no one but themselves. Forwards and defenseman require the “system” and teammates. Goaltenders can just be plugged in and work without dependence on other factors. It’s the simplest fix yet the Sabres have struggled with it since Miller was traded. Yes I’m oversimplifying but I think most understand what I’m saying here.

Seems like the organization was worried about cap cost due to the pandemic or whatever excuse they are using this year. There were a lot of available goaltenders this off-season. It’s criminal that they didn’t try to improve the goaltending situation.
