Per Botterill: Sabres have relieved Phil Housley of his Coaching Duties
Derrico replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Purely my guess A) All of them B) Getting caved in every night. Plus possibly the largest collapse in franchise history.... Frankly if they didn't show emotion I would be more concerned -
LA is interesting. Maybe we win the lottery, LA comes 2nd we could trade 1 for 2, 25 and something else? Although the odds of that happening are slim so probably not even worth discussing at this point lol.

This is a fair point as well. Either Housely system or the Sabres lack of talent left a ton of wide open scoring chances against. -
Updated Todd McLellan OUT of the Running Sabres HC Position

So this isn't new developments then? Not being snarky, just making sure. I think I've talked myself into AV so I hope not. -

I think this is a whole different point. I completely agree you need good goaltending. Until we get that this team isn't going anywhere regardless of who coaches. I could see a quick turnaround and playoffs but we're not a real contender until we figure out what's going on in net. I would still want AV even with what we have and hope Ullmark makes a big jump next year or Botts can find a way to figure it out. Again, that will be an issue with any coach we hire. -

But again. Wouldn't making the second round 2 years ago negate this point? By the way, I enjoy the discussion. -

Google the 2016/2017 Rangers roster. He took THAT team to the second round.....in 2017. -

His teams were bad the last two years but he went to the second round in 2017. That's not that long ago. Edit - Sorry, he was only bad for one season as Quinn coached last year. Second round in 2017. -

So it looks like AV took a 77 point Montreal team the year before to the second round of the playoffs in his first year. Then, his next stint he took a 92 point Vancouver team (season before) to a 105 point team and again made it to the second round. As for the Rags he had a similar record to the season before he arrived. Those are some nice bumps with his arrival (ofcourse not looking into any roster moves that may have impacted the stats). -

So he took two different teams, with different styles to the cup finals. I really don't understand the hate. The Rags were built with aging veterans. I'm not sure how much blame he deserves for the end of his term with the Rags. It's not like they lit the world on fire this year after he left. His teams made the playoffs 11 of 15 years as a head coach. If we're going with a guy having experience I would be more than fine with AV (I think I even prefer him to McLellan). -

I thought he was excellent when coaching Vancouver and pretty good with Montreal too. Didn't he have one deep run with a mediocre Rags team as well? -
So we all need the same luck/mojo that we had last year. Everyone is wearing the same underwear as last year just like I am right ?

That's my thought as well. I kind of like the idea of AV. Why is everyone against that? -
Correct. After mcdavid went to Edmonton it confirmed to me that it wasn't rigged. Even still the buffalo market is good for the NHL. It really is. The Sabres started the year hot and sportsnet in Canada started picking up several Sabres game on local GTA TV. Then they sucked and got way fewer. Most nights it was replaced by curling hahahha.

Screw bettman let's go two in a row!!!!!

Those are outrageous points for Tage. I don't know if I'm ready to full on defend Botts but there's a very real chance he feels Tage is too good for that league and would develop better habits playing in the NHL. I could see that toe drag move working much more often in the A than the N. Hence why he was up with the big club even though some games he wasn't ready and/or had to sit in the press box. His development will be very intriguing to watch. You can't teach that shot or that size. On the other hand, his hockey IQ leaves alot to be desired....

Let's win this ***** thing again!! Again, could be franchise changing! Let's go!!!!!!

If we win a top 3 spot and have a new coach going into next season I can see myself believing again.

Anyone feeling lucky today? No I’m not talking about with your spouse....
