  1. Two year deal with s reasonable cap hit. Don’t think this is Leino but worst case even if he is this is manageable. His hit comes off the books before Dahlin next contract.
  2. I have no idea how Gardiner plays in to this at all. If Marner signs there is not even close to enough cap space for him. If Marner is offer sheeted and not matched I’m still not sure leafs are very eager to run and give him money. He has some pretty iffy back issues and that’s the main reason he remains unsigned imo. I would be shocked if leafs sign him regardless of Marner situation and if they sign Marner there is no chance he’s back.
  3. Losing your D1 offseason is not nothing. He needs to be hitting the gym for all exercise he still can. Keep that skating up. Summer after the draft is obviously a big time for these kids to start getting stronger and working with their first pro level training staff. He’s coming from Yukon and Lethbridge. I was anxious to see if the sabres pro staff could really promote his development. Injury is a hand so I wouldn’t think it would be something that lingers long term. But I had cozens penciled in for oct 2020. Now with only one real offseason before then it makes things more difficult.
  4. Im not sure lose him is the right term lol. Let’s hope our bottom 6 is improved to the point that we don’t bat an eye if this is his last year.
  5. Right? I know the legs are more important in hockey than upper body, but he doesn’t look like that 16 year old kid in those videos of some of his workouts in the old days.
  6. You also said we wouldn’t see any offer sheets ? I know for cap purposes they probably can’t but I really hope this ends up being Boston.
  7. This is true. however, listening to leaf talk on the drive in this morning the longer this goes it favours Marner (according to the analyst). The division is so tight and with Tampa and Boston bringing back the same team they need a good start to the season. They’ve lost back to back game 7s to the bruins. They desperately want home ice advantage this year. You can almost kiss that goodbye if Marner pulls a nylander and sits out the first couple of months.
  8. Only silver lining is it’s nothing to do with knee/leg so he can keep up skating.
  9. I would consider changing thread title. You probably didn’t mean too but seems too vague and click bait worthy imo.
  10. Ya to be honest I kind of hate Peterson too. Ok maybe hate is too strong.
  11. 5 years left at $6 per. So if Nashville retained $2 then $4 mil per season for 6 years. Even at $4 mil I'm not touching him and his 7 goals last year and 16 the season before.
  12. Turris turns 30 next month. I'm not interested in ignoring last year's fancy stats. Obviously not crazy old but this is the beginning of looking exclusively at what he has done lately and not 5 or even 3 years ago.
  13. This is a pretty standard response from anyone who is being sued. Lawyer will always counter with anything that could be a contributing factor or put the blame elsewhere.
  14. Oh man the trade Cody Hodgson which ended up with all the different names has to be top 10.
  15. They must of believed this is all it would have taken to get it done. Still shocking they didn't go a bit higher. In this offer Carolina would barely get any assets back. You're right in that I bet if it was a deal that involved 4 1st the thinking would have changed. Question is: did Montreal try calling their bluff and got it wrong? Why wouldn't they have made this more difficult to match with more dollars/higher cap hit? Worried about their own cap situation too I guess.
  16. Ya I had to double check also.
  17. Oh for sure. But if ownership pays out a big chunk of this contract in dollars over the next two weeks, I could see them wanting to wait until atleast year 5 before considering a trade.
  18. Right. But again, why would you not dictate the terms? If he doesn't want to pay $11 mil in the next two weeks then he should have negotiated the deal. If he's prepared to match anything then I don't understand the logic of allowing another GM to set the max price and most uncomfortable conditions possible.
  19. This doesn’t make any sense at all though. Why would you let another team do the ‘dirty work’ and dicatate the terms of a massive agreement you will have to honour? Even if you’re an inexperienced and frankly dumb owner nobody would do this.
  20. Yep Wilcox is ufa and johansson is young but looking more and more like a bust everyday.
  21. They're trying to save face. It's becoming obvious around the league the owner is a cheap ass. Your point is spot on. If that's the case, why didn't they just do it on their own. I wish Carolina was in our division. They have a decent core but their owner seems like a complete cheapskate. If he's so concerned about money why is he trying to run an NHL franchise in Carolina?? Sell it to someone else who has the pockets. Another topic but why is the NHL trying to expand the league when they have existing owners like this.
  22. Here is what you said lol
  23. Sure. But that wasn't your point.
  24. Except it's not because Vesey is a one dimensional player and those comparables play a much more rounded game (plus they score at a better pace).
