That's why it's so crucial to get a nice haul for Eichel (looking at you Krebs or Zegras) and add a high draft pick next year. Alot of the pieces to this 'new rebuild' are in place or could be soon. I like the point you mentioned in another thread. This Eichel trade is just so key because if we can get a nice return the 'rebuild' may be nearing completion by 2023. If this turns into an ROR trade it will likely be more like 2025 before they are ready to compete.

Does it even really matter? If they trade him there is zero shot at the playoffs (not that there's much hop e now). So if you keep him and he's a distraction, who cares? In fact, I could see the team really sucking even with Jack so maybe it's better the media peppers everyone with Jack questions rather then why does this team continue to suck and your ruining Cozens running him out there against every other teams top line etc. etc.

If it's 2 or years or less then the Sabres would be crazy to not include them. You are trading the whale here. They have to get back elite assets and nobody is going to pay that unless money is coming back in the deal.

Yes, you want Eichel gone, but don't be so pig headed to exclude cash coming back on the deal. It increases your return. Probably dramatically in a flat salary cap era. If you give Jack away you will continue being a bottom feeder and the building will be empty. Take some cash back in the deal to maximize the return and maybe within 2-3 years the core and foundation is here to start winning sustainably which will in turn line your pockets. This times 100000000%. Short sighted and it's going to bite them in the ass the EXACT same way it did with ROR. Like, did we just go through that situation and saw exactly how well it played out for the Sabres. Unbelievable if this is true.

Agreed. As long as the contracts are 2 years or less then the Sabres should take any cap dump to offset salary. That is how you will maximize the return. Sabres are obviously rebuilding again and arn't in win now mode for 2 years. If this can get you Rossi and Boldy plus then you have to do it.

Agreed. Seriously, how did we get here? In a salary cap era it is pretty unbelievable to have missed the playoffs for this long AND run out probably one of the worst Sabres teams since the tank for next season. They are the absolute champion of minimizing the assets they posses. There are so many smart hockey minds out there. Just so frustrating seeing GM after GM continue setting this franchise back.

Since KA arrived he: passed on Rossi for Quinn (time will tell), ignored the NEED to upgrade goaltending last offseason, brought in a bunch of guys with terrible analytics that played terrible, made a nice Risto trade but follows it up with this Sam *****. Now we find out he hasn’t even communicated with Jack? Why are the Sabres going with a rookie GM to make such franchise altering moves??? This Jack trade CANNOT look anywhere close to what the rumoured Sam deal is.
