Or the rest of the league was hurt more by the call ups.

Well that's quite the analogy.

Hahahaa, Boyes is lighting it up on the Island is he??

I thought you were done with this team?

As much as I'd love to see that happen, there's no way you can break up the Hodgson line IMO. That's literally our only scoring line. I'd like to see the kid more on the PP though. I get having him play with one winger like a Hecht to ensure we're defensively sound but put the guy on the PP where he can showcase his skills. He's looked invisible to me and honestly I don't know what is better for his development. Is it going down and playing a ton of minutes in key situations (which I agree he has already mastered) or is it to stick with the team and hope his confidene doesn't deteriorate and he regresses?

Big game tonight. With a shortened season you especially don't want to lose two in a row. Let's hope that resting Miller paid off and he's fresh and plays well tonight. We need another line to chip in offensively. I don't want to pull a Lindy Ruff here but I'm alright with them mixing and matching the second and third lines. 4-2 win with the score closer than the game indicates. Let's Go Buffalo!

Really?? Maybe it's just me. I've been looking for this kid while watching the games and he's been invisible to me. He doesn't do much in the corners and other than the beauty pass in the first game he's done very little. I don't want to over-react the first loss but to me he hasn't been a difference maker as of yet. If he hasn't had a single noticable game after the 5 then I don't know I want to burn a year of his ELC. -

My thoughts on the game: D was terrible, 1 through 6. Might be time now with the loss and back to back to shake up the D and get a Brennan or Weber in there. Enroth looked bad. I know the D didn't help but he never came up with a save when we really needed one. That 2nd goal was horrible. Other than the Hodgson line there is NO scoring at all As much as I like Foligno's game he is useless in the offensive zone. Stafford is completely invisible out there offensively. He's always been streaky but he's been horrible IMO. Give Grigs some wingers to play with!! I know you want Hecht covering up for his youth in the D zone but he's been invisible without any wingers. I say switch up the second and third lins and get Grigs with maybe Stafford and Ott to try and get Staf going. The way Grigs is playing I'd be fine with him going back to Quebec. -

Although I still probably agree with this, they won their first game in a hostile environment in Montreal's home opener, played us very tough and then beat the Penguins last night in their home opener. If they keep playing like this I may have to change my tune, although Lupal is hurt now and this is a discussion under a different topic. Anyways, as for the Canes losing their first two and 'needing' this win. I thought that same thing about the Flyers third game and they got whopped by the Devils to move to 0-3. If we play to our abilities we're the better team IMO. -

Let's pile up the points early in the season so we don't have to stress during the stretch run. Four more points in two nights against the Canes will go a long way in April. -
I agree with Grumpy that he's been there, done that in juniors. If he can get decent minutes in the NHL then keep him up to help his development. I know there's a salary cap but I don't think 'burning' one year of his contract is as big of a deal now that T Pegs runs the show.

I was watching this one with a bunch of ppl so I couldn't watch as close as usual but Miller looked like he is in mid-season form and good move by Lindy to go with him. I still hope he gets a break soon though. That Pommers, Hodgson, Vanek line looks very legit, however I haven't cared much for the Ennis line or the Girgs line. Ott played decent but other than the fight I never really noticed Foligno (for the second straight game) and Stafford has not been good IMO. Well, scary at the end but a win is a win. Let's go for the back to back sweep starting Thursday. -
If we can make it to the playoffs I think he's going to be a game changer. He is a very nice addition in the regular season but I can't wait to see what he could do in the playoffs.

It looks like Komesarik is going to be a healthy scratch along with Franson. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/21/report-scrivens-to-start-for-toronto-again/ -

Big game, we have to take advantage of these projected bottom feeders. I'm ok with us starting Miller, we need him to get his timing down etc. Enroth better start one of those Carolina games later this week though. -

Ya that Hodgson for Kassian trade is looking pretty good right now. When Darcy actually makes a trade I've generally been very happy with the majority of them and his drafting has been stellar as well (with the help of the scouting department obviously). The one big knock is he sometimes waits too long to make the deal happen. -

He had a poor showing today for sure. But last year I honestly thought he was one of our best dmen. -

Absolutely. If he can put in that effort every game we're going to have a very nice top line. -

Ya, I forgot in my previous post about Hodgson. I've been very pleasantly surprised at how well he's played. IMO his play is going to be a huge factor on where this team ends up. -

Just wanted to jump in and say how nice it is seeing #9 run guys over. Everytime they show a big hit by Ott I immidately think 'oh sit is that Roy throwing his body around?' Team looks pretty decent overall except for Leo and Ehrhoff has looked shaky at times. I guess some of this is to be expected. As for Grigo, I think the penalties and 4 on 4 play have really limited his availability. -
Wow, nice to see the Sabres fans with the glass half full. I'm thinking we will battling somewhere in that 6-10 range but I'm optimistic we get the job done. Other than Toronto, possibly Montreal and the Islanders, there are no teams that we play where I'll think oh we should win this one pretty easily. The way the Isles handle us I rarely say that anymore. Having said that, I'm predicting a 7th place finish and give the #1 seed a real run for thier money if not a full upset.
-
And those two brothers on the top line of course. Their division is so poor that I'd be surprised if they don't run away with the west.

Ya I think this is right. I've never seen him play so I can't judge too harshly but Pardy has never played more than 60 NHL games in a season and his stats sure don't blow you away. $2 mil sounds a little high for a depth type of defenseman, espically with all that we already have in the system. I'd prefer a trade, but this move would not shock me at all.
