  1. Is it too early to start cheering for Philly?
  2. That's true, but I thought 500 ppl would then say but we've played two more games!!
  3. Does anyone else find it mildly humerous that we have been awful, I mean a-w-f-u-l yet we still don't have the worst winning percentage in the league?
  4. I don't know LGR. I admit that I only watched about half of the Colorado game as it was the first Saturday Sabres game night in awhile that I didn't feel the need to tune into from start to finish. Having said that, I thought they were thoroughly outplayed, again. I do like some of the young pieces coming along and think Girgs and our D have a very bright future but we're getting outplayed badly in most games. In past years when the Sabres made those late runs there were signs earlier in the season that the team was atleast competitive. I don't see that with this team and if/when Miller and Vanek go, we're really going to be in trouble. I honestly believe we're finishing in the bottom 3 which means the worst we could pick is 4th. Time will tell.
  5. Ummmm maybe because we don't have many (any?) stars right now so rather than throw my hands in the air and say I'm never going to watch or support this team, you hope that there is someone around the corner. I have absolutely no say in the teams plans (nor do you) but as a fan of a hockey team that's the only hope I have right now. I can't change anything so rather than piss and moan day in and day out, I'm going to look to the future. I hope Darcy gets fired and a braintrust can come in here and turn things around but what can I talk about now that doesn't involve b*tching about how bad my hockey team is. If it's so bad and you don't enjoy it, don't watch.
  6. Although I do agree with wishing we had a top 3 pick in last years draft, I still think (hope?) 5 years from now if this team has turned it around they will be talking about multiple cornerstones of the team picked in last years draft: Risto, Zadarov, Compher.
  7. Absolutley and you don't think twice.
  8. I think it's because I've liked everything I've read and watched on Compher that I'm not as upset as others that we didn't move up but still traded Sekera. Sounds like this kid plays with a ton of energy and competitiveness. It's sad when you have to consider things as competitiveness when evaluating a professional athlete, but we do.
  9. I'm not saying whether or not they should have made the Sekera and 8 for 5 and Mcbain if it was available but the trade for the second rounder is superior to moving up 3 spots IMO. The Sabres picked up pick 35. IMO adding 35 > moving from 8-5. The Sabres obviously valued having Compher and Risto more than Lindholm/Monaghan. Secondly, I don't think too many people thought Zadarov would be sitting there at pick 16. I think their intention was to go into the draft and take Risto at 8 because they valued him the highest and then wanted to take the best available forward at 16 but when Zadarov was still there it was just too much for them to pass up. There was alot of chatter about how great Lindholm will be at the draft (which may very well be true) but I'm nowhere near ready to say Lindholm will be a better prospect then Risto let alone Risto AND Compher.
  10. I've been to quite a few Generals games over the past couple of seasons and Dal Colle looks like a good prospect. He finds a way to score timely goals. He's got something like 16 points in 10 games so far this year.
  11. One might say because he never wanted to take even one more life but then I'd say he killed Todd two minutes previous. The only reason I guess makes sense is Walt told him too and that was Jesse's revenge by not and knowing he'd die anyways. I just wasn't satisfied with that I guess. The real part that had me disappointed at the end was the ricin debacle. I mean they had been talking about that the whole second half of the series! Lydia? Really??
  12. Are you guys serious?? Sorry, just caught up to the finale now. I've loved and I mean loved this whole series but what a terrible ending. I mean the majority of the episode was so slow and I thought the goodbye to the family was cheesy. The way the ricin has been discussed the whole series I thought it would have had so much meaning in the end. I mean they started the last 8 episodes by showing Walt going back for the ricin. And it's to kill Lydia?? A boarderline secondary character who has little in the way of history with Walt. Really?! Jesse doesn't kill Walt at the end? I mean I know he though he was going to die anyways but talk about anti-climatic. Also, he tries getting his money to his kids by simply threatening Gretchen? I don't know guys, like I said I loved the series but I thought it was a really weak ending. Then again, I seemed to be one of the only ones to like the Sopranos ending......
  13. That was my first thought lol. I heard multiple reports that the choice will represent how the team will be going forward. Does that mean we are anywhere close to re-signing these guys? I hope so. I haven't heard any talk of it but Darcy does keep his cards close to his chest.
  14. I'll play devils advocate here in regards to Ott being captain. This is just me throwing it out there and not what I believe to be true or that contract situations should play a roll in who is selected captain. Having said that, apparently Ott and the Sabres are far apart regarding salary on a contract extension. By giving Ott the C you providing him with significantly more negotiating power which leads to the Sabres to overpaying for him or losing him come July. I say you give Vanek the C and hope the team plays well enough that he signs an extension.
  15. We watched that after Walking Dead last year. House of Cards is a great show. Can't wait for the second season to start.
  16. I remember that game vividly. Has it been 9 years already?? I can't believe it's over on Sunday. I can't even imagine how it's going to end.
  17. Thanks guys, you have a great weekend too. Good luck with the reno dennis.
  18. Another beautiful Friday!! I'm taking my 4 month old son to the local indoor pool tomorrow for his first swim of his life. He starts his swimming lessons Wednesday so you have to keep him ahead of the curve you know? :P For those hardcore fans saying but wait, that's the season opener: yes, his swimming is at 630 and then I'm rushing him home to change him into his little Sabre shirt so him and daddy can watch the Sabres first regular season game ever together. Hopefully there will be so many more to come..... I want to enjoy these early years as so many ppl have told us but I can't wait for him to be old enough to lace up a pair of skates.
  19. No talk of Myers yet. I'm not sure I'd want him to be or not but I would think that he would be in the discussion. I guess maybe wait and see if he bounces back first? If he reverts back to his old self then I would think he should be an option.
  20. Google Dolls and Matchbox 20 tonight at Casino Rama in Orillia!! Can't wait!
  21. I've read his height anywhere from 5-10 to 6-1. Anyone know the truth?
  22. I love the absolute over-reaction to players whom we don't know and other guys we 'think' will work out in 5 years. I am absolutely fine taking this kid over Fucale.
  23. Who cares what the experts say, I wish they drafted a forward even if he wasn't BPA (sarcasm). These two guys are both huge and love to hit! That's what we have been screaming for over the past five years. Remember when Myers was drafted and we all loved his size and hoped that he had a mean streak to him? I was very disappointed when I found out he wasn't overly physical. We these guys are mean SOB's. Seriously, come playoff time in 3 or 4 years these are the guys who wear down the opposition and win series.
  24. I think Zadarov is a pretty big risk. They went with Risto at 8 whom is a safer pick who should turn into a nice top pairing guy. I admit that I was holding out for Monaghan or Lindholm to fall but they didn't so this was a good pick. But Zadarov at 16 is a reasonable high risk / high reward guy. There is talk of him being a top pairing, mean 6'5 Dman whom would not have fallen to 16 if there were no risks. IMO Lazar is less of a risk but his upside is 3rd/2nd line player whereas Zadarov is top pairing potential. The second round guys seem to be pretty big projects as well that come with considerable risk.
