We're trading Myers and need pysyk in the lineup. Just kidding I have no idea.
-
To be fair he almost always does.
-
It's the only thing getting some of us through this mess of a season :P Thank goodness we're not NJ fans.

I'm going to be very interested to see how Dal Colle plays over the next month. Scott Laughton may be the best player in the OHL IMO and he's heading to Sweden to play in the World Juniors so how will Dal Colle (his linemate) fair? I'm confident he will still put up points as he did early in the year before Laughton rejoined the team but it will give some insite into just how much Dal Colle benefits from playing with Laughton.

What do you mean by the bolded? Not a fan of Reinhart?
-
That's a tough decision. I always believe in BPA but I love what Dal Colle can do around the net. I guess I haven't seen enough Barrie Colts games to make an accurate judgement of him. If our scouting staff think Ekblad is much better than the next highest ranked forward I hope we go with the big Dman, if it's close I hope we go with the forward.

Vanek is a better player than Moulson. Period. I don't care about this years stats. Having said that, I think we still got the better end of that deal, possibly by alot depending on where the Isles end up in the standings over the next two seasons.
-
Me too. I wish he was centre though. Someone compared him to Alex Galchenyuk and I think that's spot on. He reminds me so much of him when I watch Dal Colle. Especially after Saturday's game where Galchenyuk scored and play well, I'd love having a player like that in our lineup.
-
Dal Colle with an excellent weekend scoring 4 times and adding two assists over the two games.
-
If they get a first in another trade do you think it's more likely they defer I take it?
-
Yep. Wishful thinking for sure and there are other good players in the draft other than him. But with Nolan's talk of keeping Miller and a new GM likely wanting to put a mark on this team with a boat load of money available and us so far under the cap, I can't see us being this bad again next year. I could still see us ending up around 5-15 (worst) so there would be a small shot at winning the lottery but come on, we're Buffalo sports fans, we know how it ends.
-
Ya, that could be argued and I agree with all of this.

Below is a great article to read for those disillusioned by how good the leafs rebuild is going. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/12/03/kadri-out-as-falling-leafs-start-tough-stretch-vs-sharks/

That's a good comparison. Sure we've got a prospect or two but nothing that screams top line C as of now.
-
Really?! This team has not had a legit #1 centre since the Briere and Drury in their prime days. I'm one of the Hodgson supporters but only because I think he'll be a great fit as a second line centre. I'm not saying the guys mentioned are top line caliber players or not but saying this system needs a top six winger over centre is ridiculous IMO.
-
That sounds even better.... I absolutely love him. And this isn't coming from someone reading stats and watching a few youtube clips, I watch him regularily. Having said that, I would prefer drafting a centre over a winger.
-
See I'm the opposite. If we're going to suck big this year, I want there to be that clear #1 sitting there for us. Oh well, let's hope there are a few good ones at the top. Thanks for the update on Draisaitl's stats as I was shocked when I saw them. How could someone be ripping up the WHL with 27 points in 42 games? I know stats arn't everything but It makes me feel better about him having over a point a game average in juniors.

It's been proven a million times the stars overwhelmingly come from the top of the draft. There are so many examples, if you can't see that by now I'm not going on a long post to prove it. Do a little research yourself, including work that's been done by members of this message board.
-
But I thought we were to all be envious of their rebuild and interview all possible gms and assistant gms that have been involved in this rebuild.
-
That's true but historically speaking the best of the best come from the top of the draft. I don't care who you have in your front office, the player taken #1 overall is better than the guy taken 10th overall 99 out of 100 times.

I realize the league rules and I'm not just looking at the top pick. However picking second is preferable to picking third, which could easily happen if we get passed by the Oil. This year is a complete right off as far as wins go. I don't want to go on some long run and end up picking 8th or 9th again, especially in a lost year.
-
I keep thinking we're going to go on a little run at some point and reel off like 4 or 5 in a row. I think I'm just use to us screwing our draft pick. Although our start has been so horrendous that if we can keep this pace up into the new year it won't matter if we go on a late run.
-
My bad, I forgot he was back there. Obviously didn't watch, just checked out the stats mid game. Thanks. In other prospect news Dal Colle has another OHL special 3 games in 3 nights starting tonight.

Oil beat the preds 3 0 and sabres now 7 points behind the second last team....
