We may have to agree to disagree but when you are picking 3rd overall in a great draft, having played juniors with another player you drafted in a previous year does not affect my draft decision at all. If Arizona thinks Strome and/or Hanifin have more potential than Marner (which I think atleast Strome does) then that is who you take. I guess there is the potential to play centre but I don't think he's a natural centre at the next level (reminds me of an Ennis who can play both). I just philosophically don't believe in having 2 of your best prospects be under 6'. One? Sure. But maybe that's old skool thinking on my part. Especially when many big boards and scouts seem to prefer the bigger natural Centre.

It's suppose to be such a deep draft that unless the first is used to bring back a ready made high end player such as ROR then I really hope we use that pick.

I know they played together in London but I don't think that means much. I wouldn't want two of my teams top prospects to be under 6' wingers. Then again, I guess Darcy is with them now so I can see why he would be enamored with that. I like the sound of Zboril.

I agree with this. Listening a bit to the Fan 590 yesterday and they had Strome on and the media sure as hell wants him. I just can't see Marner going 3rd. I think Strome goes to Arizona as you pointed out and then it's a tough call between Hanifin and Marner for the leafs.

You mean David Quinn? I caught a bit of the interview on the way into work. If the audio ever becomes available it would be appreciated if someone can post it. One of the key things I heard was the coach saying he is not going to try and hold Jack back in college and thinks he's ready for the NHL (but mentioned it's still obviously Jack's call whether to go back or not).

As I said in a previous post (can't remember who said it) but a 40 to 50 point projection seemed criminally low. You put him with Kane and Ennis and give him sufficient pp time and I don't think 65 to 75 is unreasonable.

I've seen this set of highlights a few times now and there are a couple of plays were 'wow' is the only thing that pops into my head. I didn't watch much of the Americans in the WJC and when you see the stat line of 1+3 in 5 games it's not overwhelming. But watching the highlights he could of had a boatload more. Guy looks like the real deal. Reinhart was only an A for Canada. I believe it was Curtis Lazar that was captain.

It felt like a brand new era around 930 on Friday April 10th. It's so exciting to be talking hockey again. I was all in on the tank early and actually hoping Murray didn't bring in too high end of players at last years free agency. My God I am so glad that is over and I can go back to being all in on this franchise to win starting today. I saw some of those Eichel T-Shirts in the other thread and told my wife this feels like 2005 again where on a trip down to Buffalo I would want to buy up the entire store. Times are a changing.....

This is a good point and I completely agree. Any other team wins the lotto and Buffalo is still the team that 'tanked and still lost' (as everyone but Andrew understands we did not really lose though). With Edmonton winning, there is a league wide hatred for that happening and the focus seems to have shifted there. Not that I really care what other teams fans think of us anyways.

I almost posted but feels like rubbing it in at this point. Two weekends ago is the difference between our board and theirs. I wasn't even stressed about the lottery as Eichel looks amazing. The drop between 2 and 3 is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>between 1 and 2 IMO. I can't imagine how this week even went for Yotes fans leading up to the lottery. So much pressure.

Did you keep reading after page 6? Man, to think that so easily could have been us. There are Coyote fans in tears tonight. Many fans blaming that late 'meaningless win' against SJ and how they are cursed. The fan base here would be saying the exact same thing if roles reversed. I actually do feel for Arizona tonight.

Exactly, so pumped he will be the face of the franchise. As nice as the number one pick would have obviously been the way the game is called in the playoffs eichel will do just fine.

If this lottery pisses you off then just wait until next year. I think it's something like a 50 50 chance the team in DFL picks 4th.

I don't disagree with this. But I think the Tank was still considered. As in, if Kane was healthy then I bet TM waits until the offseason to make that trade.
