Hhahahahha true, I was just messing with ya. So if Bailey is still up then who's sitting tomorrow night now that Kane is back? -

Excellent. I like him much more on their wing then McGinn. -

True. But again, the point was the core is rotting somewhere else. This point agrees with that. Pommers still has 3 years remaining on his deal paying him $5.6 mil per season. He's scored 7 goals so far this year. Ouch. Edit - Not Molson bad, but still pretty bad.
-
Minny reminds me of the Sabres post Briere/Drury until 2013. A middling team trading for veterans trying to make a push but usually ending right around the playoff line. I realize how terrible the last two seasons are but I'll trade those for the next 10 of ours vs the next 10 for Minny. Also, this link shows who has what picks for the upcoming draft. Minny doesn't have second, third or fifth. Vanek and Pommers are major pieces to that core. I was responding to your point about none of those teams having as bad of seasons as we've had the last two years. My point is that none of the teams that have the old core players are doing anything but spinning their tires. Save for Nashville (but Goose isn't really a huge part of that team).

Although that's true. Are you more optimistic of the Sabres core/prospects going forward today or Minnesota? Vancouver?

Ahhhh, my apologies then. -

I thought it would be move back one more year if he doesn't play the 10 NHL games. I could be wrong on that. Either way, I agree that he belongs in Roch. -
No. But the Islanders were terrible when Vanek was actually on the team.
-
Oh it is. I am just curious. Interesting the swing in positioning right around that 80 point mark.
-
Hahhahaha, ok, well humor me and assume we round up to the 80. Is it about a 50/50 shot of finishing in the bottom 5?
-
Hahhahaha nice. Based on write-ups though you would think it's the opposite. I haven't seen either play for extended periods of time myself though. There's just something tantalizing about Gauthier being 6'4 and having plus skating. He is described similar as Pavel Zacha who I wanted the Sabres to trade up for last year. The writeup on Dubois is his skating isn't nearly where Gauthier's is at. Usually if we can't make the playoffs I'd prefer we get the highest draft pick possible. But this year seems pretty deep. I'd prefer a top 7 pick but really anyone in the top 10 should have a pretty high ceiling. Murray was saying earlier on GR that it's a deeper draft then last year.
-
True. But they are a better team now than they were at the start of the season. They have now gone 8-6-3 over their past 17 games. If you use that pace then they will end with 80 points. What percent chance does that give them for bottom 5?
-
Thanks for the info. Outside of the top 5, Dubois and Gauthier both seem like guys that TM likes to draft. Both are big, power forward type guys. Gauthier was getting a ton of attention prior to the WJC but he really disappointed in that tourney and I haven't seen as much written about him since then. I kept waiting for him to step up for Canada in the tourney and he never really did.

Ha! True enough. We do play better on the road. Love all of the tank talk in Toronto when they were the first to throw stones at Buffalo last year. So many of my leafs buddies said how embarrassing it was how Buffalo was blatantly tanking. Let's be honest, the leafs have traded away most of their good veterans, buried a couple of their young players away from the tire fire and have and will continue to trade off anything of value. Same as we did last year boys.

I know it's snarky but that was hilarious.

I'd like to see him finish the year in Roch. He's had a nice taste and showed some promise. Keep his development going down on the year and don't burn a year of his ELC IMO. -
He's also Canadian born :nana: Oh ya, no way I see the trade actually happening. That's why I'd love it if it were made.
-
I think it would be a no brainer for the Sabres to accept the first one. Don't know the players well enough to comment on 2. Number 3? Sure. I wouldn't do #4.

Good stuff. Enjoy the moment and the hockey game.

We haven't had four 20 goal scorers since 2010-2011. Stafford scored 31 that year....
