Didn't you get a jersey for the TW contest as well? Two new ones and no cost to you? Not too shabby at all....

Hmmmmm, maybe I'll toss some on the plastic then. Thanks for the heads up on that.

Took out $300 American and it cost me $417 Canadian. Ouch.

I listened to the interview on the way home. It was in regards to the trade deadline. He was asked about how he viewed this years deadline. He went on to say he had a deal he could have made for another player but at some point the pick is too low and too far out to be worth trading that player. He said he had a deal in place but decided not to do it and then that player/pick was traded to another team for similar compensation. The quote was not in reference to our first round selection or tanking/not tanking in anyway.

The first bolded sentence would shock me. The second wouldn't shock me but I would still be pretty surprised.

Wow, the boss even comes out and says your underpaid? I guess it's good he actually recognizes it but that's a piss off. My complaint: gout. Don't know if anyone else on the board has gout but it's unbearably painful. Lasts about 5 days and you usually get the pain and swelling in your feet. Seriously feels like razor blades cutting you every step you take. Even shittier is we have tickets to the Sabres game against the Wild on Saturday. We're staying tomorrow and Saturday in Buffalo and God knows I'm going to be drinking more beer and eating more wings than I should. Hopefully the pain subsides sooner than later.

Agreed. As NS said, this move screams Gary Bettman.

I agree with this but I think the writing is on the wall that NHL will be pulled from the Olympics and this will be the replacement. Hope I'm wrong on that though.

I think the idea of the Team North America and Team Europe is to make the tourney more competitive. If those teams were replaced with say Slovakia and Germany then you would run into those two teams getting demolished every game. Also, some really good young NA players and Europeans not born in Finland, Sweden, Czech or Russia would not be in the competition. I think one of the focuses of the World Cup is to grow the game and having 2 teams get demoed and highly skilled guys miss out on the opportunity is counterproductive. Having said all that, I'm not sure I agree with the format. To me the World Cup should bring out a big sense of National pride. Being Canadian, if we were to lose to say the Russians (or Swedes :flirt: ) in the finals then there is that whole 'well we really should of had McDavid on our team.' It'll be fun watching the young guns team but then it gets conflicting with who to actually root for. There would be more national pride if Canada were to win so I'm not sure who would actually be cheering on the young guns to win from the beginning.

This is my biggest concern as well. I'd be shocked if they let him go after this year so we're dealing with the same stuff next season as well.

If anyone wants to read a complete meltdown by Canucks fans regarding not trading their UFA's at the deadline then take a read below. Remember that Jim Benning was in discussion to be our future GM before GMTM was hired. http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=2038983&page=10

Wow I know they have a couple of injuries but the Oil are rolling Zack Kassian on their top line with Hall and Draisaitl. Zack. Kassian. https://twitter.com/DailyFaceoff/status/704708336302698496/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

I donno, with Franson out of the lineup it's not that bad. Risto, Pysyk and Bogo I would say are above average skaters and McCabe is atleast average. I'm so glad Franson isn't playing though. He would have a few pylon moments out there for sure.

I think that will happen. Similar to my surprise with Hanifin dropping behind Marner and Strome last year, same will likely happen with Chychrun (if he is indeed the first D even taken). Wow, Gauthier falling all the way to 20 is a surprise to me.

Rumor has it it was to take Dylan Larkin. That's more disappointing then missing out on Babcock at the 11th hour.

Ryan O'Reilly lower-body injury; could be out "several weeks"
Derrico replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
D takes so much longer to develop then O that I agree with this. Pray we pick in the top 3 for an elite talent. If not, hopefully draft Tkachuk, Dubois or Nylander. Find a way to trade for that young D. It'll take a lot but Fowler or Theodore type guys are ready for potential top pairing minutes today. Chychurn/Juolevi guys are atleast 3 years away from that. -
Why is Risto not on the top PP unit with Eichel? Come on DD.

His offense has fallen over the past three years. Sitting at 13 goals this season as a 20 year old playing junior hockey is pretty disappointing. I remember him being pretty highly spoken of during his draft year.

Sam and Jack have had as good of seasons as anyone could have reasonably expected of them (especially Reinhart) and the team still has a losing record. I don't care much about the wins and losses as well as the young core players are playing well, getting big minutes and learning. They've been doing it all season thus far. If we go 5-14 (highly doubtful) but Jack and Sam look the part and we're losing a bunch of one goal games then I'll still be optimistic looking forward.
