How nice is this? It was only 3/4 years ago guys like Grigorenko and Zadorov were the saviors and thus rushed onto the Sabres. Now we can afford to let our young guns properly develop prior to bringing them up ala Detroit.

Ya I guess I haven't chimed in on my displeasure yet. I booked a hotel 2 weeks ago for Saturday night so we could make a weekend out of seeing the prospect game. Too late to back out as hotel is paid for but $20 plus a bunch of 'service fees' per ticket? Are you kidding me? I don't even have to pay convenience charges or all that other garbage for regular season mini pack prices. I'm blaming Russ Brandon on this one. That price (along with the service fees) just feels like they're gouging. No Eichel this year and it's cost me $74.20 American ($100 Canadian) for 3 friggen tickets. As all of us on here, I'm a huge Sabres fan but I'm not coming next year if they're charging $20 and all those extra fees again for a glorified scrimmage.

Awesome. Someone's getting the Pi avatar treatment next offseason :flirt:

Well that's interesting then, did not know that. I guess I'll just hope Murray and the pegulas play their cards right at the meeting this week. To me it just feels like one minute the logic behind the signing makes too much sense for it not to happen. Then ice water gets thrown on it. I'm impatient damit!!

He's good friends with eichel and play on the same summer league team ffs. When Murray traded for him I think it's logical to have assumed Murray has spoken with eichel and there's a good shot he would sign. I was borderline shocked when they kept insisting on going to market August 15th. Then the agent sends the email claiming they're open to anything and I think ok it was a ploy to ensure no tampering. Now it sounds like he is going to market again. Based on the criteria listed and being buddies with eichel how does Buffalo not provide the best fit? Open top 6 spot? Check. Close to home but not in that market? Check. Playing for a team on the rise and superstar owners? Check. Worried about ur second contract? Biggest check as u will likely be playing with the last two years second overall phenoms. Where or what is the issue here?

To get Landy and Barrie we're talking about adding Nylander to that package plus.
-
No chance that's the deal. Absolutely no chance.
-
RHD seem to have enormous value right now. Maybe we can get Land for Bogo and Girgs?
-
F5 F5 F5 Wait, does anyone actually use F5 to refresh?
-
This. Not into trading Kane or Ennis as you will be getting very few pennies on the dollar right now.
-
I don't believe he will maximize earnings by doing this as he can still only sign an ELC with whichever team he signs with. But this does give him the opportunity to choose where he wants to go.
-
I like this comparison. I think Alex has 30/30 potential for sure. He's not going to battle in the corners or play a ROR style game. But offensively he's going to put up numbers. Slide in his skill set with a guy like Jack and he could put up some unbelievable numbers. His coach said he's the most skilled players he's ever seen in all his years of coaching.

Somehow I felt relieved finding out this news. I didn't want him signing in Toronto. I love how the news leaked about Stamkos meeting in Toronto yesterday just to get their hopes up before they came crashing down!

Because....wait for it....Buf

Again, one of those guys is a D man. I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm saying it's very risky period. Riskier giving it to 4 forwards knowing you have a stud Dman you will probably have to pay sooner then later or a stud guy you will need to bring in if he doesn't pan out. No to mention your drafting has to be absolutely supreme to continue rotating in guys on ELC who can give you some production. There's a reason Tampa is in a difficult spot right now. They have too many guys coming off ELC who need to get paid. That will happen to us.
-
Yep that's right. But Risto is a guy I'm betting on. I think in today's salary cap world you have to bet on your guys. Maybe Tim isn't confident in Risto as I would have thought. But if you don't place those educated bets your paying a lot of guys a lot of money in a couple of years.
-
Yes they are. But I would prefer atleast one of my top 4 paid guys to be a defenseman. If you bridge Risto then I'm anticipating his next deal to come in closer to a $7.5 cap hit if all goes according to plan. If it doesn't, then we're screwed on D with limited financial (see cap) resources to fix it. So now we're talking over 50% of the cap on 5 guys. To me that makes your margin for error razor thin. Sure the remaining guys could average $2.7 mil and probably be ok with that core. But one wrong signing like Molson and you really really feel the implications.
-
Sure this season we can afford it. But as you say, we're not even contending for the cup this coming season. In two years we will be and ROR, Stamkos, Eichel and Reinhart will be making approximately: ROR - $7 Stamkos -$12 Eichel - $7? Reinhart - $6? That's $32 mil in 4 players. Maybe the cap is $78 mil in 2 years? That's 41% of your cap on 4 guys. To me that's too high of a percentage.
-
No I don't. So I guess my question is why hasn't he been presented with that offer? If it's as True suggests, I think that's a huge mistake. Risto is a guy you lock in to $5.5 mil per year for now and look like a genius two years from now.
-
I'm so torn on Stamkos. God I'd love to add him as it would be exciting, he's a great goal scorer and it's a middle finger to the leafs. But....that cap hit. Man that could really really hamstring us in the not too distant future.....
-
This is a horrible idea IMO.
-
So many comparables showing Risto value is 6 years at around $5.5. Why hasn't he signed yet?
-
Don't think I've commented in here yet. Really like the pick. Would have preferred Keller slightly to Nylander but he was off the board so I'm very glad Murray went with Nylander over Serg. Guy has elite skill. I think we've got enough horses who can play big and physical. It was the perfect time to add a high end skill guy to the group.
-
But is this really Bob MacKenzie, or another hack pretending to be Bob?
-
I'll be there for the actual Game again this year. Actually, since it's on a Saturday we've already booked the hotel and making a weekend out of it. Would be nice if they released info soon on when tickets go on sale.
