Anybody on Pegula Plane watch? Eleven? You got anything?
-
Good point. The forward group looks so promising today and in the future. We just need some (more?) high end D prospects now.
-
I hope your right as I agree with sending him back. But I'm not so sure about it.
-
Oh for sure I would rather him spend atleast a year or two in juniors as my next posted stated. Having said that, the kid looks to have some unreal offensive skill. Ennis is a giant question mark IMO. Zemgus took a step back last year as well. Throw in how Kane can play selfish at times and looked good on a third line then there are several spots open IMO. I could see a world where management puts the kid on a wing with ROR and a somewhat responsible other winger to hope for his offensive wizardly but be sheltered in the D zone. GMTM has been here 2.5 years now. I know his 'job' was to finish the tank so really it's only been one year of actually trying to get better. But don't underestimate the pressure it is for this team to start winning today. It was a big factor in the Kulikov for Pysyk trade IMO.

+1000 Tank on my friends :flirt:

All depends on how his development goes. He is still an 8th overall pick, not top 3 pick. I don't think it's unheard of to have an 8th overall guy spend 2 post draft years developing. Ok fine I will do the research. Pre-Risto I looked at the last 10 8th overall picks and looked to see if they played two post draft years developing. Derrick Pouliot - Yes (did not play in NHL first 2 years) Sean Couturier - Yes (did not play in NHL first 2 years) Alex Burmistrov - No (played in NHL season following draft) Scott Glennie - Yes (did not play in NHL first 2 years) Mikkel Boedker - No (played in NHL season following draft) Zach Hamill - Yes (did not play in NHL first 2 years) (also turned into a big bust though) Peter Mueller - No (only played one season in juniors) Devin Setoguchi - Yes (did not play in NHL first 2 years) Alex Picard - Yes (only played 6 NHL games in his first 2 years) Braydon Coburn - Yes (did not play in NHL first 2 seasons) So therefore 7/10 players drafted 8th overall in the years preceding Risto played in a developmental league in the 2 years post draft. I (and everyone) hopes the kid is special and was a steal at 8th overall but let's not get ahead of ourselves. We've got some good talent already and the kid weighs 180 pounds soaking wet. I've got no problem with him playing 2 years in the A unless he's obviously ripping it up. His own brother even went 8th overall and played the vast majority of the past two years in the minors.

I agree. Would love for gmtm to let this guy marinade for a couple of years. If vesey signs that affords us that time. If not i could see him getting a real look this season.
-
Oh wow....I feel for you man. I NEED that 3 hour break from kids between when they go to bed and I do.....
-
 I've got a few more years before those days.....
-
Hahahhaha. For me it's because of the even younger youngins. Kids go down to bed around 8. If we had it before it would be near impossible for me to concentrate. Frankly I'm sick of losing so I need to be focused on this draft hahahahha.

Ok, date tentatively changed to September 6th at 9pm.
-
Agreed. I don't think that tweet gives any insight at all. "Educated" guess at best. I'm not sure it will be us by any means but I don't think we're out of the running when this continues tomorrow either.
-
How does Tuesday September 6th at 9pm work for everyone? I don't think this needs to go to a vote. I've said from the beginning only to join the league if you are interested in maintaining your team all season long. For the most part this league is actually quite good for that (better then a lot that I'm in). However, every year there is a wait list to get in so this year I will start enforcing this. If someone misses a week then life happens and I get that but even if you're out of the playoff picture please set a regular lineup. I'm not asking to scour the waiver wire or spend more then 10 minutes a week making player changes to active guys. I won't have this problem though as I will be leading the way pole to pole.
-
Alright gentlemen, I've tentatively set the draft for this date. Only 19 days away.....better get your research in because this is finally the year that I kick some ass.
-
How's Wednesday August 31st at 9pm work for everyone?
-
We do not. What day/times work best for everyone. To me I prefer weekday nights after 830. What are you guys thinking?
-
I can't see it as Vesey salary won't be substantial so it shouldn't be based on cap implications. No idea though. I was surprised when he wasn't signed before July 1st. Especially considering the comparables. But whatever. Then July ends, now we're nearing the middle of August. The strange thing is there are so many comparables out there that are all similar numbers so I would love to know which side is looking for either longer or shorter term deal.
-
August 9th now.....what are we around 6 weeks from training camp?
-
 Man, I'm a pretty big time optimist but that's even too far out there for me.

Politically I don't think I should be laughing but that was really funny. -
They seem interesting but think we will just stick to the tried and true live draft....I'm not even sure how an online auction would work.

Just a thought here, and it's outside the box, so if nobody likes it then no problem. What if (starting next years draft) the team that wins the championship gets to choose which position they want to start in the draft the next year? The runner up would get second choice etc., all the way down to the team that comes in last getting whichever of the 12 spots in the draft is left? It would be the reverse tanking type of thing that hockey has. This may encourage people to still make lineup changes etc. late in the season even if they're out of the playoffs. It's not a huge incentive as it would still be a snake draft format but would probably give the slightest of advantages. Thoughts?

I'm torn on the keeper. I actually probably wouldn't mind it but there were a couple people who were dead set against it during the discussion last offseason.
-
That doesn't sound good. Wonder what the reasoning is. Hopefully nothing injury related.

League rules have now been changed to 6 point TD for QB. We can vote on having a one player keeper league. I vote no on that. This!
