It's Tocchet isn't it? Listening on the way in it sounds like Housley is Florida's numero uno choice. I think if he was JBott's number one choice we would have an ok shot at him. But with the Pitt connection I think it's Tocchet. What are our thoughts if that's the hire? Everyone like me, which is unsure? He made a mess in Tampa years ago, but then again Tampa was a mess when he arrived. There's the whole gabbling ring issue. However, there have been nothing but glowing reviews from current Penguin players including the special relationship he seems to share with Crosby. Could that translate well to Jack's development? I honestly don't know how I should feel about him taking over, if he takes over.

Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation
Derrico replied to SabresBaltimore's topic in The Aud Club
This. Wasn't there a report indicating he spoke with Mcphee recently and discussions went well? -
Oh no, I agree the asking and purchase price will be high. To me reinhart is a huge ask if he's the one to go. But I think guys that were not even close to available may be for a high price. As for the Vegas side deals, what's Mcphee big incentive other than a second round pick. Why wouldn't he think about it and then say nope in a week or two. Why would Vegas take a second round pick and a lesser player than a great young d? Is he afraid Anaheim or Minnesota or whoever will unload those guys before the draft? The d the ducks are going to have to expose are going to be worth way more than a second rounder so why would he let them off the hook?

Any other off-season and I would agree with you. But I think this expansion draft has turned everything upside down. I think there are d available this month that normally wouldn't be available. Only reason is teams are afraid of losing via expansion draft. Not because of salary, not because of talent. They're afraid they will be lost for nothing. JBot has some huge decisions to make here. Getting good young defesemen is nearly impossible. This offseason I think teams have a real chance at acquiring one if they are willing to give up a good forward asset AND have the room to protect them in the draft. Buffalo checks both boxes. Saying this, I hope they keep Reinhart unless a top pairing guy is coming back.

After looking at the scenarios, I'm confident we will get a decent prospect at 8. As others have said there's probably very little separating picks 5-10.
-
I haven't followed the draft as closely as years past.....but I would be thrilled if Maker or that high school kid fell to us.
-
Exactly....... Hahhahahaha, ya I guess it's Karma coming around?

Ugh, I hate picking behind Arizona two years in a row....

Glass is Back! and he has a lot more free time...

Wow, sorry to hear.....glad to have you back. -
Agreed.

Whoa Whoa Whoa. This is such a far fetched rumor that I don't even want to respond. But you guys would really have a problem with this trade? Guy had a 'down' year with 33 goals this past season. He had scored 50+ in three straight years before that. He's 31. I don't think his game has or will fall off a cliff here. Four more years sounds perfect to me. What are we giving up? A guy that may or may not be here after this season, a 2nd round pick and another former 2nd round pick. What am I missing here? I'd be shocked if OV doesn't get back to or near 50 next season playing next to Jack.
-
Who do you have in mind? Some goalies develop later and you can sign them as free agents but I'm not sure about the draft. At quick glance the top 5 rated goaltenders are all 17/18. There are few / if any 22 year olds in the draft and worth making a pick on. Are there any free agents 22 that have a legit shot at making an NHL roster?

Do trades have to wait until the Cup finals is over?

I don't think (could be wrong) anyone wants Kane gone for the sake of it. To me, it's partly about cost control. He's likely going to command close to $7 mil on the open market. With Eichel and Reinhard up we just don't have that kind of cap space. Also, he's one of the few worthwhile assets we could use to help our mess of a D.
-
Come on Wildcard. No way we get Juolevi for Kane.
-
Where's the 'it's happening gif'? Your letting me down Liger....
-
What about the numbers Sam put up. Ducks.
-
I'll go with $50 Canadian if I lose. If I win you go $40 American? I think that's roughly equivalent? Or just go $50 Canadian if possible lol

I realize Tpegs has not been shy to pay ppl to not work for either organization to this point. But I'm sure every man will come to a moment where enough is enough. Maybe I'm still just too use to ownership of past who either went bankrupt or were too cheap. Especially this offseason who is in the running that needs a 5 year deal vs 3 to take the job? I would be shocked if boughner, tochet or housley would need that incentive. Who are we in competition with? Florida? I would think the job should be pretty attractive on its own. Hiring someone like Babcock? Sure I give him what he wants but were talking about all unproven guys right now. I guess I'm just afraid the well will run dry one day and I don't want it to be because we gave too many poor coaches long term contracts. I'm on my phone so I apologize for the atrocious spelling in this post.
-
Anaheim would be my guess.
-
Lmao
-
Ya I knew almost nothing about Boughner prior to a couple of days ago. After some research, I would be fine with him. But please TPegs, no more 5 year deals.
-
Fair enough. I could do a Charity bet. How much? Do we have to convert Canadian to American :P Maybe $50?
-
Avatar bet he goes after round 3?
-
Yes of course we are allowed to do that. I was responding to your point about not freaking out about losing Petersen because the draft is supposedly good for goaltending.
