  1. This. I'm really interested to see what a guy like Bogo can do under Housley. I know he's been a tire fire the past two years but he was never this bad in 'Peg. If we could get him up to serviceable or 'gasp' a top 4 D which he was drafted to be, then that would be astronomical for this franchise.
  2. A man can only be disappointed so many times watching live flight schedules......
  3. Oh come on. Where's the link so we can creep on it??
  4. I like every option except #3. I don't love having him on the team but it's one more season and then the cap hit is gone. I don't care about the actual salary, I care about the cap hit and don't want it carrying over to next season (when Eichel's big deal and likely Reino's medium size deal kicks in). In the interim, if he's playing where he should be, on the third pair, I am fine for one more season. At worst, it gives Guhle time to develop in Rochester if needed.
  5. My bad, didn't realize we could protect him. Wow Vegas isn't getting much out of us if they don't take ullmark. I still can't imagine anyone taking des. It's just a waste of a pick.
  6. Gorges does make some sense in terms of leadership but deslaurier doesn't make any sense. Why would they take him over carrier or ullmark?
  7. Think we hear any deals announced today?
  8. NHL franchises should be bigger than 5th round rookies, not the other way around.
  9. That's exactly what we should be doing.
  10. Ya as of yesterday I was almost resigned to tocchet getting the job. Now it looks to be atleast 50/50. If not housley being more likely.
  11. Good finds Wildcard. Appreciate the info.
  12. Why are we not reported to be in on these types of moves? Are we not in a similar stage of the rebuild as Toronto? Have they now blown way ahead? Do we not have assets that could be dealt and also have a great need to improve the D?
  13. I like Sam. I really do. But those guys aren't in the same universe. Sam is a nice player. Crosby is a superstar. Maybe Crosby is a dark Belgian stout and Sam is a Coors light.
  14. :w00t: Very true.
  15. It's Tocchet isn't it? Listening on the way in it sounds like Housley is Florida's numero uno choice. I think if he was JBott's number one choice we would have an ok shot at him. But with the Pitt connection I think it's Tocchet. What are our thoughts if that's the hire? Everyone like me, which is unsure? He made a mess in Tampa years ago, but then again Tampa was a mess when he arrived. There's the whole gabbling ring issue. However, there have been nothing but glowing reviews from current Penguin players including the special relationship he seems to share with Crosby. Could that translate well to Jack's development? I honestly don't know how I should feel about him taking over, if he takes over.
  16. This. Wasn't there a report indicating he spoke with Mcphee recently and discussions went well?
  17. Oh no, I agree the asking and purchase price will be high. To me reinhart is a huge ask if he's the one to go. But I think guys that were not even close to available may be for a high price. As for the Vegas side deals, what's Mcphee big incentive other than a second round pick. Why wouldn't he think about it and then say nope in a week or two. Why would Vegas take a second round pick and a lesser player than a great young d? Is he afraid Anaheim or Minnesota or whoever will unload those guys before the draft? The d the ducks are going to have to expose are going to be worth way more than a second rounder so why would he let them off the hook?
  18. Any other off-season and I would agree with you. But I think this expansion draft has turned everything upside down. I think there are d available this month that normally wouldn't be available. Only reason is teams are afraid of losing via expansion draft. Not because of salary, not because of talent. They're afraid they will be lost for nothing. JBot has some huge decisions to make here. Getting good young defesemen is nearly impossible. This offseason I think teams have a real chance at acquiring one if they are willing to give up a good forward asset AND have the room to protect them in the draft. Buffalo checks both boxes. Saying this, I hope they keep Reinhart unless a top pairing guy is coming back.
  19. After looking at the scenarios, I'm confident we will get a decent prospect at 8. As others have said there's probably very little separating picks 5-10.
  20. I haven't followed the draft as closely as years past.....but I would be thrilled if Maker or that high school kid fell to us.
  21. Exactly....... Hahhahahaha, ya I guess it's Karma coming around?
  22. Ugh, I hate picking behind Arizona two years in a row....
  23. Wow, sorry to hear.....glad to have you back.
