Oh wow. Anyone have a summary of what was said?
-
Who was it that said the team would make the announcement today with a presser tomorrow? Looks like we're getting close.
-
Good points all around. At times I shake my head a bit but then I come to the same realization. I dont know if I want to live in a Sabrespace world without these....different points of view.

He's gone to Vancouver.

Expansion draft and league-wide wheeling and dealing
Derrico replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Isn't it still an old boys club? That's partly why we rarely see RFA offer sheets. If Vegas makes the request and Bill Daily contacts each GM to inform them this is the leagues stance then I bet every team complies. -
And that's fine. Any of those 3 seem to be worthy of the pick. Just don't want to pass on someone with more upside because we have to take a d.

I'm sure they will have an idea. But if I'm Vegas I would rather keep that info as confidential as possible until after those lists are submitted. If I paid $500 mil just to buy the club the least the NHL could do is try to enforce it as much as possible i.e. not have guys like McKenzie reporting on it. The NHL is really dumb if they just took it upon themselves to keep it quiet just for the sake of it. I have to think it was a request coming from Vegas. -
That's fair. But I want the guy the Sabres think will turn into the best player. Period. Make some trades, sign some free agents to shore up the D. It wasn't long ago this franchise had the most depth on D. It was starving for scoring forwards and centremen. Teams needs change all the time. Take the best player because whoever is chosen at 8th needs to be an impact player in 3 years, whether it's D or F.

I like this point.

I don't see any D in this draft that will provide a huge contribution within the next two years. If we still have a big need in 2 years then we're already in trouble.

Actually I think this was a request from Vegas. Listening to a beat report on the way home yesterday and he said it would benefit McPhee to keep his mouth shut on trades until atleast after the protection lists have been submitted. If it's leaked that Vegas agrees not to touch an Anaheim Dman but will take forward instead it may change other teams lists as they now know Vegas will be in even more need to take a Dman. If it's leaked a D will be taken then the opposite is true. Not likely to substantially change any lists but from a Vegas perspective it would be best to keep all side deals quiet until after. -
If this is the case then it better be what Liger says below. B.P.A.

Fair enough. I'm all in on Kreuger.

38 year old Marian Hossa with 4 years left on his contract???? We already have Matt Moulson thanks. Edit: Cap hit of $5,275,000 is crazy for a guy nearing 40. -
I don't think anybody is undervaluing Reinhart. Those proposing trades are using a good asset to either acquire a good player in position of need or for a superstar like Kane. Guy had 89 points last year and 106 the year before. We're not proposing trading Reinhart for Stafford here. This is a fair point.

I really do enjoy reading your posts man. But after Matthews and Matty mo the past two years your player projections hold very little weight at this time.
-
I'm running out to baseball but if you want a summary and full explanation I can get to it tomorrow morning.
-
Uh huh. This is a wet dream. Don't see it happening though.
-
This. I'm really interested to see what a guy like Bogo can do under Housley. I know he's been a tire fire the past two years but he was never this bad in 'Peg. If we could get him up to serviceable or 'gasp' a top 4 D which he was drafted to be, then that would be astronomical for this franchise.

A man can only be disappointed so many times watching live flight schedules......
-
Oh come on. Where's the link so we can creep on it??
-
I like every option except #3. I don't love having him on the team but it's one more season and then the cap hit is gone. I don't care about the actual salary, I care about the cap hit and don't want it carrying over to next season (when Eichel's big deal and likely Reino's medium size deal kicks in). In the interim, if he's playing where he should be, on the third pair, I am fine for one more season. At worst, it gives Guhle time to develop in Rochester if needed.

Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation
Derrico replied to SabresBaltimore's topic in The Aud Club
My bad, didn't realize we could protect him. Wow Vegas isn't getting much out of us if they don't take ullmark. I still can't imagine anyone taking des. It's just a waste of a pick. -

Gorges does make some sense in terms of leadership but deslaurier doesn't make any sense. Why would they take him over carrier or ullmark?
