  1. Oh I know. I'm hoping we get atleast Dahlin or Eichel in the lineup. Although I thinking the big deal will be JT if he's still an islander. Ironic thing is they are marketing the game about Tavares coming back to Oshawa yet he may not even be on either team come September.
  2. Not nearly the same magnitude as season ticket holders but for the first time I was really wavering on another mini pack next year. Since the lottery I'm in. Sabres are coming to Oshawa for a Preseason Game in September. I got my tickets but my uncle was not going to pay the crazy prices they're charging for a Preseason Game, despite it being in our home town. He bought tickets the day after winning the lottery.
  3. Been there, done that. We have the young core in place. Desperately need veterans and higher skill guys to show them the way. I wouldn't trade Scandella. We need about 3 more Scandella type players up front.
  4. I think Risto takes some heat because we want him to be that legit, #1 Dman. There are no other options so coaches have played him like a #1. In reality he's a number 2, or more likely, great second pairing guy. Now that Dahlin is coming aboard, I think we're going to see a great second pairing anchor as early as the season after next. He will be won back over in the eyes of fans playing 22 minutes a night as a great second pairing guy.
  5. That's not just ur feeling. At this point I would be surprised if he isn't allowed to walk. No was Sabres pay that qualify offer and no way a team trades for him and then has to pay him that either. Only way is if the writing is so on the wall that nobody pays his qualifying offer than maybe he agrees to a two year deal for a lesser amount. Even then it's very unlikely the Sabres want to go down that road.
  6. I'm not opposed to this idea. I really like Sam and we need him. But we need D as well. Would love to be able to shelter Dahlin as much as possible the first half of the season. Going to be rough for Phil to do that based on the D currently on the roster.
  7. Luck plays a big roll in it. Signed 2006 playoff run.
  8. How much is he getting this offseason? 3 year @ $4 per? $5?
  9. Now that we've recognized he's more effective as a top line winger than third line center I love the way his game has taken off. He's a good winger on a team very very shallow on the wing. Would need any trade to be core altering before I move him. He should be part of this new core.
  10. I'm as optimistic and excited about this kid as anybody. But mcdavid? Come on. Trade in a heartbeat.
  11. Fair enough. Only other one I read the whole thing after drafting was Mittlestadt and he only had a part one. A few Swedish posters who were going on about him from the start said it's because he's from Sweden and nobody in North America ever sees him play. They say if Dahlin was from Toronto or Red Deer, or even Arizona the hype would be out of control. I've heard a couple analysts also saying this. But who knows.
  12. I'm not here to argue with you on EK being his floor. Especially prior to the injury EK was unreal. That's a crazy point. However, I would dispute the hype not being there until after the lottery. I would never have those prospect threads open as to not lead to disappointment. But I've done f all at work the past week and a half and read every one of the 90 plus pages of Part 1 and 2 on Dahlin and the hype has been incredible and it started in 2016.
  13. Oh my God this. A million times this. Honestly I think many fans were like me. We've lost the lottery several times in the past and the odds of not winning were better than 4 in 5. I wasn't going to start investing hype or interest and be disappointed. I heard the noise. But I refused to look into it and thus end up another bridesmaid. Search the Rasmus Dahlin prospect thread on hf. Including part 1 (which started when he was 16). The hype has been unreal the past two years but I think many Sabres fans refused to invest time researching a prize that would likely never come....
  14. Lol was posting the same time as smell. Was referring to Roger Ronnberg. Reminds me of Ron Burgundy.
  15. Suppose to be a deep draft. Pick 32 has high value. I know you have to give to get but I don't want to trade that pick. Would they take something and next years second?
  16. Thanks Buddy! Listening to your son sing happy birthday and begin the 'are ya one, are ya two' all the way into the thirties was very amusing. He said 'that's how they sing it in my class.' Goes a bit quicker when everyone in his class is turning 5 lol.
  17. Listening to wgr on the way in interviewing the director of European scouting. Paraphrasing....he doesn't like doing player comparisons but they have not been this excited about a prospect coming out since Alex ovechkin. If your point is you would trade the pick for an elite, 24 year old that is already provenance then I probably agree with you. Just don't want casual observers thinking this is a Grigorenko type prospect Sabres fans are trying to pump the tires for.
  18. Well sure. Ofcourse nobody can definitively 100 percent say he will be better. I can't even say he will be better than Antipin. But there are many scouts with some very high praise.
  19. Ya that's the stuff I've been reading. Nick Lindstrom commented how Dahlin is better than he was at that same age. Several Swedish scouts quoted as saying he could be the best Swedish defensive prospect ever. I'm sure some is just hyperbole. But these arnt Sabrespace posters or even Kris Baker saying these things. Ofcourse he's a prospect and anything can happen. But the hype of Dahlin being better than Karlson eventually is definitely out there and not just from message board posters.
  20. To the first point, from everything I've read there are many who believe he has the potential to be better than EK. I don't think majority could be quantified as I don't know how many qualify under that description tho. I'm not sure what your second point means. There are many saying he could be at and possibly pass that level which is what you state. Isn't that contradictory to your first point? No scout will ever say definitively he will be better than player x. Dahlin is further ahead of where EK was in his draft year. I don't think that's even debatable. The question is, has Dahlin maxed out potential or will he take the next steps similar to what EK did his first few years in the league?
  21. Agree on power, disagree on accuracy.
  22. Don't u be talking like that. I still have to get out to Nova Scotia again and actually meet up for a coffee this time!
