I'd like to see him pick a good coach, figure out what to do with Kane, strengthen our defense either by trade or free agency, shed some dead weight. Also either draft Liljegrin at 8 or trade it for established dman.

I just think that anyone who can't imagine our team with Kane moving forward is in for a rude awakening. He'll be traded this off season or next trade deadline. I don't want to lose him, I want to extend him. But I don't see it happening.

I'm not a cap expert either but I'd be more than happy with that return.

Well of course they all do, some more than others. Hence the "hometown discount". Kane seems to have a transient lifestyle. Not like he has kids that would have to change school districts or anything if he moves to another city. Not a knock on the guy, but it is to be considered.

I just don't understand why everyone wants only puck moving dmen. Yes we were awful in that regard last year and need to improve, but we also need big tuff stay at home dmen. Remember the 2011 first round against Philly? They camped out in front of Miller and our soft defense didn't do a damn thing about it.

I admit that I don't know hockey as much as you and some of the other guys on here, and some of the stats you just talked about are things that I don't follow on a league wide level. I just know what I have read about him that he's a shutdown defender, I like his size, and am impressed how he stepped into a top minutes role last year. I say he's a JB kind of guy in that the Pitt model is pay the stars, get creative with supporting cast. Forbort would come cheap. Wasn't referring to puck moving.

A trade with LA for him and #11 would literally transform our defense for a decade. Why wouldn't I be psyched? Hes a gem and hes cheap. Kind of guy JB will want.

LA is in a position that we can deal Kane to and get a handsome return all things considered. Imagine getting an additional early first rounder, and a proven 25 yo dman for someone who will most likely walk at the end of next season? We could have Forbort and draft two more dmen at #8 and #11. Our d would be looking legit long term.

I misposke he was called up from the AHL the Ontario reign name still makes me think juniors for some reason. He's only played 25 games in the NHL though and had like 2 goals. Either way, they got a #11 and some pieces for us so we can agree LA could be a good dance partner. As far as Forbort having only one full season in the NHL that's due to blue line depth of LA.

He's more than just a stay at home dman. Read about him, watch some videos. He's a proven NHL dman that can play top minutes and is 25. That's not a dime a dozen. #11 and a proven top minutes dman, not #11 and a winger in juniors.

THANK YOU! Finally someone else mentions Forbort I've been talking about him for months. I'd trade our #8 for him. As far as Kane goes though, if he doesn't want to be extended yeah trade him. Forbort and a first rounder for Kane?
