Though I don’t think it’s really plausible, having Kane would be a game changer. Not only could we make the playoffs I’d even dare to say that we could do something in said playoffs.

Kane has a 10.5m cap hit, ain’t nobody got time for that. Though Chicago is a team we should take a hard look at for assets. Heard on Instigators today that their organization sent out a letter to season ticket holders that they’re essentially rebuilding.

Love the idea, but two American outdoor games? Unless they’re thinking about relocating the Winter Classic though I can’t see that happening. It would be a brilliant location.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking as well. Would be a shame if they passed that up. The more I think about it, they would be crazy not to do it. Brings even more pressure to make sure that 1/1 start date happens. Man I miss the NHL.

It’s also my understanding that even as an RFA he isn’t eligible to receive an offer sheet from any other teams because he didn’t play enough NHL games during his ELC. Sabres have all the negotiating power with him. I anticipate they will let him slow cook in Rochester with top minutes for a full season. Really hoping his recent uptick in productivity will continue and we will see him here in 2022.

Glad we both agree on that. I guess what I’m trying to say is that they won’t let him make the roster, essentially. Last season he had 9 points in 31 games (NHL) and 25 points in 36 games (AHL). Considering how amazing he was in Word Junior I don’t see them rushing him again. Hoping they learned from rushing him. He should get top minutes in the AHL for a full season.

Afraid he will prove his critics wrong? No, I’m not against him in any way (which would be ridiculous). I’m just a Sabres fan who watched everyone thrust him into being our 2C stop gap too quickly. I don’t want to see his development get botched further. Would it be nice to see a top 10 draft pick from 3 years ago contribute to our team? Yeah obviously of course. But I think he needs another year in Rochester first.

You think Mitts is going to earn a roster spot this season? I don’t see that as being likely at all. One would assume they still have to develop him further. I don’t agree that he might earn a roster spot.

Do you think this will still happen on New Year’s Day as the season opener? Would they do it still without fans? Scheduled 1/1/21 in Minneapolis, Blues vs Wild. The Winter Classic has become quite the tradition at our house and really hope it’s still happening. It’s pretty much the Super Bowl for us.

Honestly I miss the Buffaslug. Became a fan in 07-08 and it reminds me of happier times; playoffs, Miller, Vanek etc Those were good times. Though I do feel like we are on the cusp of more good times ahead. Remember when we were sick of being a bubble team? Miss those bubble days.

We have to do something in net. I can realistically see MAF getting us 30 wins the next two seasons. We haven’t had that from a goalie since who, Miller? It would be easier to replace Sam’s point output IMO. Goaltending is the pressing need. Might be time to say goodbye to Sam anyhow. We can’t keep banking on him taking bridge deals.

Really wish we would make a move for him. I read that even Fleury himself was surprised he wasn’t dealt after the Lehner re-signing. Even in his twilight years I could picture Fleury giving us 30 wins the next two seasons. Don’t think we’ve had a netminder give us 30 wins in the last 9 years. If I’m right that’s a sobering stat.
