Kind of miss the AHL lately. Growing up we had a great rivalry between the Albany River Rats and the Adirondack Red Wings. The Rats won the Calder. Then we had the Albany Devils and Adirondack Phantoms. Now we don’t have any AHL teams anymore. Just ECHL in Glens Falls. New Jersey running a terrible team with little to no community involvement, a long with two D1 teams in the area already, just couldn’t support it anymore I suppose.

So many people are hating on Chara for this online, but can’t fault someone for signing his last good contract. The guy wants to play hockey. Though I’ll still never like him.

I think people are waiting for the “official” Sabrespace one. The two that everyone uses (Blue and Gold). I’m just waiting because I already drafted in a random public league and don’t want to be in more than two leagues.

I think we should manage our expectations. If we finish 5th or 6th by a small margin I will be very proud of our team and will have been thoroughly entertained.

Team USA/ Russia game was rough. Our first two PP were abysmal and the team struggled with zone entries throughout the game. Looked like a different team though in the third period (in a good way). Spencer Knight had a bad game. Better beat Austria tomorrow.

As the two posters above have mentioned, there are simply too many variables that all have to click. Not to mention goaltending. Only advantage I can see is the short season playing to our advantage. I do think this will be the best Sabres team we’ve seen since 2011 though, which for me is more than enough for right now. This season is going to be fun to watch.

No, it would be shocking if we do. Top 4 teams finished in the top 10 in winning percentage last year. And the 5th finished in 11th place in winning percentage. Having said that, it’s gonna be a much better team and a fun, wild ride.
