If KA really did want Jack out of here before the injury (plausible), then logically Jack would have to be the toxic, head case that some make him out to be. I don’t see any other reason why KA would want a player like him gone, logically. I’m not saying this is the case, but if the theory is true, it would have to mean Jack has significant character issues.

Understand the logic and it could be argued that the tank could have worked if GMTM didn’t panic and trade off all the prospects. But we have seen the havoc that a losing culture has done to this franchise. Get us a serviceable 1a goalie, some big boys to protect the kids, and who cares where we draft next season. Let’s get some wins, us fans need it.

I don’t know what it means either. Anyway, I’d push past these GMs if they want an injury discount and remind them that their prospects and 1st rd draft picks are also unknowns. Both sides have risk involved here.

Rossi alone (+) is not enough for me. Throw in Boldy and I’ll feel a bit better Zegras alone (+) is but it seems like the Anaheim rumors have cooled a bit. I’m not knocking Rossi but Zegras is just more of a proven player (obviously) at this point. I would like a serviceable 1a or 1b coming back in whatever trade we do make. Give us Rossi and Kaapo (+), keep Boldy.

Sometimes sunlight is the best disinfectant, at least that’s how I look at it. Have no idea if this would make it worse or not though. I do think that giving someone a letter, and then they don’t confront things in the locker room does more harm than good. Hopefully with DG that won’t be too much an issue anyhow though.

Well yeah that’s just, ridiculous. Definitely agree with you there. They don’t have to give out As either though IMO, they can wait on that too. It’s not like it’s a necessary chain of command designation.

Getting 4 pieces for a broken Eichel may not seem as far fetched as we think it is; look no further than the current real estate market, or lumber prices etc. Supply and demand makes people panic and overspend. Jack is THE biggest trade piece in this years off season, no name bigger in FA either. Whoever gets Jack will surly get the best player back out of whatever trade landed him.

Honestly I’d rather we just do away with the C until one naturally emerges. Giving it out just out of the sake of tradition does more harm than good IMO. Let the locker room change, the new young team find its identity, and see what grows out of it from there.

If we do get any veterans to get to the cap floor I hope they have size and are willing to use it so our kids don’t get Umberger’d all over the ice. Let’s never forget what the Lucic- Miller incident did to this franchise.

My prediction is that Jack will be traded, will never have the surgery, and will be playing for his new team at the start of the season and will say he is fine and feeling great. Time will tell if I’m right.

The only thing I fear is that if KA feels like he is on the hot seat a couple years from now for whatever reason, that he will start trading away our prospects and empty our cupboard for self preservation. If memory serves that’s what TM did.

I think if KA goes after a legit 1a goalie this off-season we will know this is no tank, just a tear down.

I think he’ll play for Northeastern next season but he could hold his own in Roch IMO. Not NHL ready yet, though Alex Killorn did tweet that he couldn’t score on Levi even when he was 14 years old 😅.

I’m excited about Levi, I think he looked even better than Knight in the WJC. To me the Sabres are supposed to have top notch goaltending, and we haven’t had that since Miller. Looking forward to watching him and UPL develop. I’ll be really excited if we get a 1a or 1b back in the Jack trade.

It’s not a tank but an old fashioned strip down to the studs and then rebuild. I think KA wants to win as many games as possible for the culture of the room still, but without taking on bad long term contracts. Hopefully we can get some short term (emphasis on short) contracts in FA to get us to the cap floor and help us compete. Also we still don’t know what is coming back in the Jack trade which seems inevitable at this point.

Whenever we seem to get veterans for their presence in FA, it never seems to work. We did that through the last 10 years and had no leadership anyway. I get the logic but it hasn’t worked. Just let the kids play.
