  1. I'm not quite sure how to assess his play. The skill set is obvious and exciting, but the mistakes are often. Waits too long to react defensively, many bonehead passes in his zone, gets caught out of position a lot. I know he's only 18, still learning, but he's nowhere near the best player on the team. I'm not down on him in the least, and the encouraging part is that he is pretty effective despite the many mistakes.
  2. our forwards and defensmen play lousy in our own zone, it's our biggest weakness in my opinion. Pilut is a prime culprit, he makes too many mistakes.
  3. why does everyone just assume any trade will be for a rental? But if a rental helps us get into the playoffs, why shouldn't GMJB consider it?
  4. actually 9 of the 10 were OT, not shootouts. But yeah, I'm sure Lehner played a role.
  5. and good teams win... but you discount our wins. We are in a playoff battle right now. We have a 7 game homestand which will probably give a good indication if we will stay in the battle or not.
  6. at roughly this same point last season, we had lost 10 OT games... did that mask the reality as well?
  7. Trading at the deadline doesn't mean you need to mortgage your future. If you see an opportunity that will help the organization, you have to consider it. but we didn't.
  8. How can someone who is not all that effective, not currently playing to expectations be a steal? He was set up to be our 2nd line center, a lot was expected out of him. And a #8 pick is expected to be a valuable player, how do you steal someone @ 8 unless they are a superstar? Again with Pilut, he made the team, sort of, he's been a healthy scratch because he hasn't been playing well in our own zone. Not a steal. I expect both of them to do well eventually, but just saying they aren't steals. That's all.
  9. Pretty solid summary. My 2 minor criticisms- calling Pilut and Mittlestadt 'steals'. Pilut looks promising, but isn't there yet. Mittlestadt has been disappointing this season considering the fact that he was thought of as a ROY candidate. Not to say they both won't be good, but too early to tell, let alone consider them ' a steal'.
  10. A big problem with this team is how we play in our own zone, we are awful.
  11. Did you ever watch Housley play? Defense isn't why he's in the HOF.
  12. I'm sure they'll pull him, but how many goalies would have stopped those shots.
  13. I'm no big Hutton supporter, but christ, are you watching? A breakaway to McDavid is not a great sin. Yeah, it would be nice to stop him, but look at the goals scored. Really can't put too much blame on him alone.
  14. Yes, I think Miller would have let all 3 in. What does 'deflections are deflections' mean?
  15. Because 2 deflections and a crappy defensive play. He had no chance on any goal.
  16. He's horrible. Actual made the brilliant statement about the Eichel line becoming our goto line. Sharp as a tack. ok Doc.
  17. How do you know announcing games is a risk to his health? I started yelling for Ray to shut the hell up, he's the worst ever. Then realized he was doing the play by play.
  18. Nobody knew about Hasek, that's why he was so easily acquired. Wasn't Mogilny playing with Lafontaine, not May? Yep, they did a good job announcing the game. Very balanced broadcast.
  19. the most amazing thing about that season was how Lemieux came back from cancer during the season and ending up leading the league in scoring- going past Lafontaine. He only played in 60 games.
  20. chances are the Blues tear it down after this season if they continue to stink. This year or next, we'll likely have a lottery pick.
