  1. Who thinks players would pick Buffalo over SLC? The players have been dealing with fans not showing up for a while now, can't imagine they want more of that.
  2. Being a Sabres fan in Phoenix, I've felt that the Coyotes were probably 2 years behind the Sabres in development, as the Sabres fell back this season, it's pretty even now. If the Yotes high picks make quick progress, they'll be a top team very soon.
  3. So the team will play in a basketball arena that was only able to seat 10k for the frozen 4 because the arena isn't suitable for hockey, and wait a few years till the new arena is built...sounds awfully familiar.
  4. Yep, although I'm sure the players love living in Phoenix, I'm not sure I understand the talk of player reluctance to SLC, aside from the frowning on drinking 🤪, I've heard it's very nice there.
  5. Armstrong has been stockpiling high draft picks the last few years, they're loaded with prospects along with some good young talent on the big club. I would think he would keep things as they are. The team is setting themselves up for a bright future. Sucks for us that have been waiting for the players to get a little more experience.
  6. I can't see them trading Crouse. There's a good reason why many teams would like to have him, he's a very effective player. Big, tough and has found a scoring touch.
  7. He had some moments and you could see the big skill level. The year in the NHL probably was a positive for him over a year in juniors, but I have to think that an established player would have helped the team more. Benson had 3 or 4 stretches of no points over 10+ games in a row, a few goals mixed in there could have got us a few more points in the standings.
  8. OK. Sorry for that. It's frustrating to follow 2 teams that always disappoint. I'm a bit upset at how this has come about. The owners come out and insist , we will win the auction for the land, and now crickets for the last couple days.
  9. Reading comprehension isn't your strength, is it?
  10. Those of us that live here have been waiting so long to get things straightened out, it seemed for a moment that it might just happen this time. The organization has stockpiled high draft picks the past few seasons, a ridiculous amount. The future looked bright on the ice, but could never get it right off of it.
  11. No kidding. That seems pretty obvious.
  12. He's only been owner for a few seasons. He's not the reason that there has been problems. It's all been poorly managed since day one and it seems that the politically connected really don't like the idea of a hockey team, for some reason. They bend over backwards for Dbacks, Cardinals and Suns, but throw up every possible roadblock for the Coyotes. They started in a basketball arena with obstructed seats, then they build in the wrong part of town... poor ownership all along the way. This owner seems dedicated to Phoenix, plus the project is much more than the arena, so a real money maker in a great location. Hockey is pretty big out here and growing. Youth hockey is great here, ASU division I hockey is a strong program and lots of people here from hockey cities. It's just been handled so poorly since day 1.
  13. The development isn't in Scottsdale, but just adjacent to it. The mayor just changed his tune, saying he's ok with it, as long as there is a plan to deal with traffic hitting Scottsdale. It sounds like, if the win the auction, there is a lot a prep work to be done, which will take quite a while with planning and actually doing the work. The league does not want 3 more years at Mullet. It has come out that talks with SLC have been going on for a bit, even while the ownership group was talking up the new project, so I think it's highly likely that the NHL would give Phoenix an expansion team in a few years. which coincidentally is about the anticipated cost of the expansion fee. Imagine that.
  14. Off the top of my head, didn't tampa sign their top players to big contracts and win a couple cups and still have those guys playing at a high level, Winnipeg this past off season did the same and they're having a great season. So, how many times have we seen it?
  15. Always someone that suggests not playing a guy coming back from injury. Wait longer, don't risk injury...., what makes you think they rushed him back?
  16. If our top prospect is Benson, who goes 15 games between points, how much or how soon can we expect anything out of this group?
  17. He was 5'11", but I get your point.
  18. Front runner for comeback player of the year award.
  19. True, but it's a dumb thing. Fans, especially Buffalo fans, are too needy. When I was going to games with my dad, and then with my own season tickets, it was a thrill just to go to games, I didn't need to be coddled. Yeah, times have changed, but for the better? I'm not so sure.
  20. I don't disagree that the team needs to play better, I think we all agree there.
  21. The reason seems to be the players sticking up for their coach. I'm OK with that.
  22. Somehow the franchise survived for decades without the post game salute.
  23. I guess this is just a symptom of the disease, being a terrible organization. Also... The team deserved some boos. I'm ok with the team supporting their coach this way. Fans need to stop feeling like they need their butts kissed and then get upset when it's not being kissed.
