  1. I never wanted to trade a talent like Eichel, but it really looks like we messed up by not getting a good trade done, especially after the rest of the roster results of today. If we can't move him, he'll be as miserable as can be, if we do move him, it'll probably be a horrible deal. What a mess.
  2. Thanks for cheering me up.
  3. This is one of the most depressing days I can remember as a fan. Nothing like losing to Dallas or anything like that. Many of us knew this day/week would be bad, it's been horrible. Nobody of quality on the team that had a choice to stay did that, they all left. Nobody of worth came back. We have no choice but to build through the draft and it's not really a great plan. Need free agents as well. We can't even trade Eichel.
  4. Yeah Punch, but you were smart enough to get Roger Crozier. He helped make us competitive much of the time.
  5. He could buy beer for the rookies.
  6. Unfortunately, these might be the goalies we are left to choose from.
  7. Get a third team included to get a chance at a better 2022 first.
  8. He re-signed with Oilers. He's no good anyway. Can't imagine any high profile FA signing in Buffalo. Unless he doesn't get any offers, which would be a shock.
  9. I have a friend that 'knows' people with the Sabres. Apparently when RK was fired and Granato took over, the Sabres asked Jack, who was in Florida at the time, to come back to Buffalo to show support and give good PR to be around the team. He said no, at that point, they decided he's a goner.
  10. "There was a substantial offer made to him," said Quinn, who acknowledged making two recent proposals to the Drury camp. "We made it perfectly clear that we were prepared to meet the financial. They never once countered. They did not want to give us a number and ultimately said they didn't want to come back. They wanted to go to New York." I thought they had an agreement. I was wrong.
  11. According to the Sabres team president at the time, that's what happened.
  12. No surprise from the guy that backed out of a handshake deal with the Sabres on a new contract.
  13. Don't bother rooting for losses, this team is designed to lose right now anyway. We don't have a top line that competes with other teams top lines. And no goalie. No top 2 defense that can shutdown other teams. It's a mess.
  14. Call it what you want, but as this team stands today, and it doesn't look to get any better, we will be a very bad team. You have to look at our division, 26 games ?, the rest of the conference, (24 more), how many of those games do we win against Tampa, Toronto, Pitt, Washington, Islanders.... Tank or not, it's the same effect. We will finish at or very near the bottom next season. We still have no NHL quality goalie on the roster.
  15. It was a joke
  16. Yeah, but lots of players were traded. I agree about free agency, but players didn't stay on the same team their whole career.
  17. Well of course, that goes without saying.
  18. This is interesting to me because I have not heard him say anything remotely like this during the whole saga. I always felt Jack was gone because the team wouldn't make a verbal commitment to him. I'm reaching, because I don't want to trade him, but this could mean a lot.
  19. I think this is less a tank, but more a total rebuild. Same effect, but I don't think we are looking for a savior in next years draft. This wouldn't be so bad if we hadn't been so awful the last 10 seasons.
  20. If they're going to tank, not addressing the goaltending issue is a great way to accomplish it.
  21. well, he did say he was open to a long term deal and the size of previous deals were too short. Seems like a pretty good chance he would be here long term if we offered him a deal.
  22. Sounds like he said he was open to a long term deal as recently as this past season.
  23. So the narrative of Sam wanting out wasn't really true. Wonder if the same with Eichel.
