Has the NHLPA chimed in at all on this issue. You would think it's time for them to get involved to get a resolution to the situation. The 12 week waiting period didn't work, surgery seems to be agreed upon, but not the specific procedure. What's been happening the last 2 months after the rehab?
-
I'm guessing legal arbitration on money issues, but I would think the sabres would retain his rights. It would be too easy to become a free agent and get out of a situation you are locked into. From what I've read since last night, it seems after the 12 week waiting period expired, the Sabres medical team approved of the fusion surgery, not disc replacement. Eichel team wants disc replacement. That's the hangup.
-
We don't have to trade him next year either, for that matter. Especially with the no movement clause. "Jack, either add more teams to your wish list or stay here"
-
For such an awful team, it really hasn't been boring lately.
-
Good questions. This is a mess.
-
Why would they ask for records if not serious about a trade? That argument never made any sense to me. From reports , it seems like quite a few teams were serious about acquiring Jack, did any teams see records? My guess is the Sabres wouldn't have to pay, but still maintain his rights.
-
Then end the charade. If they're not going to offer, end the talks. Like I posted earlier. Jack we tried, it didn't work. Get ready for training camp. What does Adams think will happen in the next month to improve the offers made to him?
-
Why wouldn't the Sabres make his medical records available(if that story is true), what team would offer 4 big pieces without seeing his records?
-
So what are we doing? If he needs risky surgery, why are we expecting a big haul in return for him?
-
We have the most cap space available in the league. We need talent. Maybe this is why the offers have been unsatisfactory. Teams might not want to give up the farm for a player needing surgery.
-
maybe, but most of the teams probably can't take on the contract after the free agent signings. Plus, we're trying to trade an unhealthy player. it's fun to think about retribution, but it really just prolongs our misery with a lousy team.
-
He's not going to play for the Sabres again. I'm pretty certain of that. We're already a dumpster fire, they needed to take the best deal available. I don't see how we are not in a worse position today than we were earlier this week.
-
I don't think any of us are qualified to have a take on his condition. Non contact skating is obviously much different than taking body checks. But aren't we well past the 12 week 'waiting period' of physical therapy and rest? What's the next step if that didn't work?
-
He probably wants to get treatment he feels is necessary for his injury. Can't really blame him for that.
-
I have no idea what Adams plan is. I was totally against the idea of trading Eichel, but there is no way that it makes any sense that he stays a Sabre.
-
If they can't get proper value after all this time, Adams should tell the rest of the league to pound sand. They've had enough time. Take a stand and tell Eichel, sorry , no go. I tried. Get ready to suit up. If not, gotta move him for the best deal available, and they probably blew that already.
-
I'm not referring to the medical staff. More of , who do you believe? The agents or the Sabres?
-
should we listen to the most incompetent organization in the NHL?
-
Is everyone missing the part where the Sabres medical staff agreed that surgery is necessary? Why won't they have the surgery? If this is truly the case, I'd be pissed if I were Eichel as well. Is there any justification for holding up agreed upon necessary surgery being performed asap in order to be ready for the start of the regular season? The agents are saying this has been agreed upon since June, we are entering August. Why no surgery?
-
I agree that it's not a tank as we know it. It's a full rebuild which means you probably are a bad team for a couple years. But I don't think the 1 year deals have anything to do with complacency. The players aren't worth more than a 1 year deal for $750K and not good enough to commit to for more than a year.
-
It's not that complicated, is it? The last thing we need to worry about is having too many good goalies.
-
he only works in increments of $750K
-
That just sounds nuts to me. You won't sign a guy because in 3 or 4 years we hope someone we have in the system will be better? Not a problem any GM should worry about.

Some quick thoughts regarding trades and free agency so far

The last week couldn't have gone much worse for the franchise and the fans. There really is no light at the end of the tunnel right now, it's a train coming at us. -
Happens all the time. Look at ROR and the treatment he got. He's a cancer... when he played so well as a Sabre.
