If he's out for 2 weeks with a foot or neck, what difference is it to the fans?

It would have been good of Kane to have done something, but i think he was 21 years old, this falls onto those higher up, not on a 21 year old player, no matter how good he is.

Not if he want's a chance to win again before he retires. He's still very good, if he leaves Chicago, he does to a contender. Buffalo is not an attractive option.

I don't doubt this was probably as good a deal as KA could get, especially with no salary retention. Only a few teams agreed to the surgery, Eichel is not guaranteed to be 100% healthy after and salary cap implications made this difficult. There is a good chance that at least 3 of the pieces are significant players in the next few seasons, so that's a positive. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad, this was uncharted territory and with a inexperienced GM, I think it's good enough and time to move on, KA has a lot of work still ahead.

Even after being 5-1-1 at one point? West coast trips shouldn't be any different than any other road trip these days. 4 hour charter flight isn't a big deal, anaheim and LA 30 miles from each other....
