  1. Well, to be honest, there are so many examples in that book alone. Just one verse alone would not do the current situation any justice. The main points in it are that everything is vanity, there is nothing new under the sun, the simple joys in life never last forever (and can actually bring sadness) and the final summation is to remember God Our Creator, fear Him, and keep His commandments. (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)
  2. I know you're referring to Buddha, but it sounds so similar to something I've read in Ecclesiastes.
  3. This forum. We may not always agree, but we're like an extended family.
  4. Better late than never. I was never a serious user of their website to begin with. Having said that, I was sent a reminder on FB to watch a video from OANN. I unliked them immediately. Furthermore, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I've actually been visiting websites such as Right Wing Watch and The Friendly Atheist. Why? I need to know what they're saying. I don't have to agree with them. I just need to remember to keep my facts straight because they're watching.
  5. Well, the fun part was passing by all of the steering wheel holders who were driving at 25-30 mph. Them: "It's snowing in April! I'm holding on for dear life!!!" Me: "Hold my coffee and let me show you how it's done."
  6. I thought we were done with the white stuff. It is snowing pretty hard on the PA Turnpike east of PGH.
  7. Hopefully it wasn't from Pilot Flying J. Theirs is actually pretty good, compared to the overpriced swill over at Starbucks.
  8. Thanks. Now I can dig a little deeper into places like Epoch Times. They've been flooding the Net with some really slick ads, and I have become suspicious of them.
  9. Thanks to SIP and the volatility of the oil markets, gas prices have plummeted. I just saw $1.17 for gas in Franklin, OH. However, diesel is still high because of the big rigs. 2.39 cash/2.45 credit.* *I don't know how the whole cash/credit thing works. I've always been a company driver, so I couldn't tell you what the difference is. 10-4
  10. Sorry for your loss. Mine died 10 years ago this month.
  11. I deleted that comment after SDS quoted me and said that it had been labeled as an extremist site and went on to say that sources matter. I couldn't agree more.
  12. I was unaware of that. Sorry. I'll delete the comment.
  13. Mrs. CC started an online business over a week ago that specializes in women's wear. http://www.marthasapparel.com
  14. Agreed. The one thing we don't need right now is a sharks' feeding frenzy. So sorry for your losses.
  15. Where is the religion thread?
  16. Was this the Soupy hit on Umberger game?
  17. I got into the mood to listen to this album. First listened to it in 1990. Looking back, these guys were way ahead of their time!
  18. We all miss games like the Umberger hit.
  19. AIN'T THAT THE GOD'S HONEST TRUTH!!!
  20. Wow. So many of us have taken employment for granted. This is certainly a wake up call.
  21. I have 451 in my possession. I've read 5. Very weird book where the reader has to pay attention to what's going on. Nonetheless, Kurt Vonnegut used some of his wartime experience as a backstory to it.
  22. Over the past two days, I finished reading two books. Yesterday, it was We Cannot Be Silent by R. Albert Mohler, Jr. Today, it was A Defense of Liberty Against Tyrants by Junius Brutus. Now comes the hard part: modernizing the latter. It's going to take some time, but I believe it will be well worth it. I may read Machiavelli's The Prince just to see how much the other book was an outright antithesis.
  23. He was a very private man, from what I read. That's probably why he wasn't as well noticed as Smokey Robinson.
  24. I'm picking up where I left off a few months ago with Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank. I don't know what possessed me to start reading it again. But it's an interesting parallel between nuclear war and the current pandemic - except that our cities are still standing.
  25. Under normal circumstances, we are not allowed to use the Emergency option on our electronic logging devices. However, because we are under a nationwide state of emergency, this can be utilized. We don't have to worry about hours of service violations whatsoever. Once things return to normal, this goes away, and we resume regular HOS.
