I may never understand why some people will always find ways to look a gift horse in the mouth. We don’t have to necessarily agree with the core convictions of a charity nor the views of their boss man. But, come on! If you’re going to claim to be inclusive, put your money where your mouth is! https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2020/05/04/corey-johnsons-deranged-slam-of-samaritans-purse-which-only-helped-nyc/amp/ Sheesh! Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Those change-ups are actually quite impressive. Then there’s this Iranian expat doing a Cannibal Corpse cover:

Who was the last opponent Shula faced? The Bills. He lost that game and called it a career.

Thanks for that info. It helps to know. As for me, I’m trying to read the Scriptures with no chapter and verse divisions in mind. IIRC, much of the New Testament quoted the Old Testament without mentioning specific book chapter and verse because they already knew where these quotes originated from - especially since the Pharisees had plenty of head knowledge of the Tanakh.
-
Speaking of the Qur’an, here’s a question I have. Did it originally come with Sura and Aya divisions, or was that a later development? I ask this because the Jewish and Christian Scriptures were not originally written this way. The chapter and verse divisions came several centuries after the canon was codified.

Has anyone seen this yet? The perspective is amazing!

Experience is one of those teachers where we learn our lesson the hard way. I say that because I have observed that politics and religion require a delicate balancing act - and that is impossible when unstable people hold positions of power and influence. It all goes back to what I said in a different thread. Any particular thing in the wrong hands can be dangerous.

? Yikes! Having said that, the more I think about other religions, the more I realize that I don’t really know all of the finer and subtler nuances that are in each of them. Not to be critical of the American media, but they don’t give us the full story on what makes each of them tick due to time constraints. That’s why we wind up making so many assumptions based on what has been communicated unto us (and why we ignorantly assume that every Muslim is a terrorist - which is clearly not true.) Unfortunately, such ignorance has had violent consequences. Whenever I see a man with a beard and a turban to hold his hair together along with a metal bracelet around his dominant hand, I know that he’s a Sikh. I have read a certain amount about them and observed that they are hard-working, loyal, and disciplined people. A lot of people here don’t know this. They think he’s a Muslim. Therefore, they have injured and killed Sikhs and bombed their gurdwaras - and yet the Sikhs have not repaid an eye for an eye.

Mrs. CC and I are having some serious concerns about the church we’ve been visiting. We clearly do not have a problem with their doctrine nor their preaching. We are in complete agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. However, it has become very evident who they support in politics (don’t even bother asking) when the Gospel should be first and foremost. They have also been very vocal against the current SIP by claiming that it violates the 1A right of free assembly. (We disagree with this since the government is not stopping anyone from meeting online or meeting in church parking lots parked in their cars. In fact, it’s being encouraged where I live.) Granted, from what we’ve been able to find and research online, this church is not only not incorporated but it’s also not a 501(c)(3). But the politicking has me worried.

I found out late last night that one of my HS classmates died last week from triple negative breast cancer.

My wife pulled out all the stops possible for my 50th birthday today. She had friends and family send greetings via pics and videos, and put them all together in a private video on YT. (Almost brought me to tears of joy.) Then, I opened the presents she bought me. 1, a Buffalo Sabres license plate frame. 2, a Ristolainen jersey from the NHL online store. She's much better than I deserve.
-
Wow. He never appeared to take good care of his health.

Thanks to the SIP, Mrs. CC had to alter plans for my 50th birthday tomorrow. She had originally planned to get the transportation office at work involved in a brithday party/prank since I was going to hit that milestone (NPI). That's not going to happen. On top of that, today is my nephew's 3rd birthday. While we can't be there FOR, we did send a video message to my sister in law. We also had a present sent to their house. Oh, well. It's not like I get to celebrate milestones with huge parties. I spent my 21st in a giant sandbox not far from Kuwait City.
-
I get that some parties take this whole thing seriously. I find the whole affair to be hilarious. Having said that, I should have said that I posted my question as being cynical and tongue in cheek, and I meant for it to be somewhat of a joke off of your reply for ad space. Now, back to this hollow pursuit of trying to jump start the rest of the season. This is why they shouldn't play in empty arenas:

Exactly. Eleven laid down the ground rules. He, OTOH, came in with his own objective. I did notice that he hasn't said another word to me ever since I told him that his posts were about him and not Jesus.

I have not been able to read the article. Did he take into account people who are immunosuppressed? They are especially vulnerable to COVID-19, just like Mrs. CC is. So, let's say I'm out on the road delivering processed chicken. I follow all of the CDC guidelines. Yet, for some reason unbeknownst to me, I catch it but show no symptoms. I bring it home by accident, and Mrs. CC gets it really bad. What justifiable reason is there to follow his suggested model that others here question?

Speaking of theology in certain hands, what happened to etiennep99? Is he still on here, or did management ban him?
-
Amazing. Lord willing, I will hit the half-century mark on Sunday - and so will Melania Trump. (Weird how I was born on the same exact day as FLOTUS).
-
That explains things with Pakistan. Same planet, completely different world. So, basically, the Taliban are an primary example of what I said earlier about theology falling into the wrong hands.
-
Probably not in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. However, they did open up in Pakistan. https://apnews.com/d874a519ddcc6a081407bf792e0e5b35 Also, I'm curious about what you think about the Taliban. Given your temperament and demeanor on here, I think it's safe to assume that you do not agree with their approach to Islam. (Not trying to start a fight. Seems to me that most Afghans have no respect for them. So, I'm sorry in advance if it's a touchy subject.)

Depending on which country you're in, either the imams and clerics have complied or they have ordered the doors to remain open. The AP had a write-up about how the Muslim world has been coping with the virus - especially with Ramadan taking place.

It had nothing to do with the band. KISS = Keep It Simple, Stupid. I remember hearing about the potential messy legal divorce that firm was going to have. Did they reconcile?
