  1. This is devoid of logic. Wins are not a star that can be attributed merely to the goalie. He lets in extra goals but makes important saves when it counts??? It doesn’t matter if a goal is let in as an “extra” goal or let in at a “critical” time. They count the same. Maybe if he let in fewer “extra” goals, there wouldn’t be as many “critical” times when the team needs a save.
  2. I would assume that many see him as inadequate because, despite some very good games, he has stopped pucks at a below league average rate overall, by just about any metric you can find. It’s fine if you believe that he will be a good (or even great!) starter going forward, but he simply has not produced a substantial body of work that shows a trend in that direction. He has been alright for a young goalie, and he can certainly continue to improve, but his performance simply has not tracked with what you would expect from a future top end goalie. I don’t think you should be surprised that most people need to see more from UPL before they buy into him as a good long term starter.
  3. It was subdued. I just didn’t think it was funny. He wouldn’t answer and he was a little rude. It was pointless.
  4. Yup, they actually made that move while Krebs was playing there.
  5. Cool, but no one knows who that guy is. Apparently he works for Dobber Prospects and was a writer on a fan blog before that. He can have an opinion, of course, but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly noteworthy.
  6. But it wasn’t entertaining. He wasn’t animated or extreme. He just refused to answer questions and was a little rude. If it was anything other than pointless, it was a little sad. Just have an assistant coach go out and speak if you aren’t feeling up to facing the media.
  7. I don’t find that particularly funny. I get it, his team sucks and he is upset about it, but why bother even going out for a scrum if you are going to be like that?
  8. Is this the place where @inkmanand I can go all about gorgeous Levi’s hip measurements? 40” hips! Meooow!
  9. I deleted it because you addressed the issue in a post you made just as I was posting.
  10. To the bolded, yeah, if you took those top players from the 80s, gave them a few months to train and adjust with modern equipment, training methods, and hockey tactics, they would improve a huge amount. At that point they would probably be better than a good NCAA team. Except for the goalie, that could be the real difference maker.
  11. I actually disagree. The game is so much faster now. Some of that is equipment and rule changes, and some of it is player training and skills. If you took NHL all stars right out of 1983 with 1983 equipment and mindset, I feel very confident that a good NCAA team from 2023 would blow them away.
  12. Just putting this here for anyone who thinks the Sabres will make the playoffs. Good time to buy in.
  13. Correct, but regular season MVPs and SB wins/MVPs make up a significant portion of an overall body of work. I’m just saying Mahomes is already approaching the accomplishments of the GOAT Brady/Montana tier. Marino!
  14. Not saying you are right or wrong, but only 3 QBs ever have two NFL MVPs, two SB rings, and two SB MVPs. Montana Brady Mahomes
  15. Like 4 years ago he got old and got bad.
  16. That’s funny because Friedman is saying the exact opposite. He says that he’s heard those are the two prospects who are off the table. Also, that seems like it would definitely be an overpay by LA.
  17. That was a really good football game. The Chiefs were the better team. They played as close to a mistake free game as possible. Personally I get the complaints about a kind of weak holding penalty, but a penalty is a penalty. I also thought that the 2nd fumble returned for a TD should have stood instead of being reversed after a lengthy review. These things tend to even out.
  18. After 11 years of no playoffs, 16 years of not being a Cup contender, and daily visits to this board, I’m calling this an empty threat.
  19. Ok. Just fyi, I’m not at all heated on this. Just attempting a friendly discussion. Hope I wasn’t coming across as aggressive.
  20. The rules of society as a whole also apply to that 23 second video. Why wouldn’t they?
  21. For me, it’s against the law, so it wasn’t the right thing to do. At the same time, the guy “deserved” it. I think both of those things can be true. Society operates on rules. You can’t just punch anyone in the face because they offend you.
  22. Fair questions, but no. I could understand it creating a stronger urge to punch him in the face, but it wouldn’t make to act any more right.
  23. I wouldn’t say justified, because I wouldn’t say that it’s right to punch someone in the scenario. But I would say that he was asking for it. If you walk around acting and talking like a big bad a-hole, you will eventually come across someone who will take up the challenge.
  24. Parenting advice.
  25. This definitely is a thing, it’s not just specifically Mexican families though. In a lot of families from other parts of the world, children generally live with the parents until they are married at least, and generally the parents live with one of their children when they start to get a little older. Sometimes they never really “move out” at all, and just continue to live as a multi-generational family unit. Somewhere along the way, in N. American culture, it became the standard goal for young adults to get out of the house and out of their parents’ hair as soon as possible. I’m not sure that is really the best set up for anyone. I think a fair number of young adults feel that once they are out of high school, they are “supposed to” get away from their parents and do their own thing by themselves, but end up feeling kind of lost and/or lonely out on their own. Meanwhile, I think plenty of parents, as they retire and enter their 60’s/70’s also struggle with loneliness and have trouble finding purpose. They wish that they had a closer relationship with their adult children and were more a part of their lives. As I get older, it’s becoming more obvious to me that people, young and old, are generally meant to live as part of a family unit and feel happiest when they do. If you think about it, that must be the type of environment that humans developed in and lived in for tens of thousands of years. I think this may be something that our western, especially N. American, culture kind of lost in the past 100 or so years. I think it may be leading to less happy/healthy people in general. Sorry for the rant.
