  1. I’m also really interested to know who else was interviewed. I’m sure there are more. NHL teams generally consider these interviews to be pretty important I think.
  2. He’s going to say that was so obvious that anyone with half a brain could have predicted this.
  3. Hmm, I didn’t even realize that there was now a limit of 4 per year.
  4. I think it would be after his age 28 season. He has one year left on his current deal, then a 3 year extension after that. Next year is his age 25 season, then 26, 27, 28 after that.
  5. Columbus GM semi desperate to keep his job probably. Can’t wait for the prospect D to develop.
  6. Graves is a LD, as opposed to Severson being a righty, but other than that, yeah, he would be nice too.
  7. Severson has rarely been used as the primary PP QB, or put up lots of PP production in his career. He has been used on their 2nd unit mostly. His primary contributions, by far, are at 5-on-5. Are you thinking of Dougie Hamilton?
  8. Dang, Severson is GOOD. Would have been a perfect addition for Buffalo. That term is a little long, ages 29-36, but not disasters. I doubt it. He is really good.
  9. Yeah, you are right, Adams has definitely said that he wants to extend Power. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be able to come to an agreement though. I guess I was just hoping to hear that they were close on a deal or something like that. It’s still very early though, so I’m probably jumping the gun.
  10. Also, I’m not necessarily saying your opinion isn’t valid. It’s just that the Hockey Hall of Fame in particular has never been a collection of purely the best players to ever play the game. Go look at it. It’s littered with players who had middling careers but happened to be notable for one reason or another.
  11. I get it, but it’s all subjective. It’s the hall of fame, not the hall of top 1% of players ever to put on skates. Playing ability is definitely a major factor, of course, but who determines how much playing ability is enough? Who is to say that sustaining a very good, but not necessarily great, playing over a very long time isn’t enough? It’s to honor the most noteworthy (famous) players ever and recognize their contributions to the game. Again, it’s the Hockey Hall of Fame, not Hockey Hall of Greatness.
  12. I mean, the HHoF selection criteria doesn’t state that “greatness” is supposed to be the primary criteria for entry. https://www.hhof.com/induction/electionprocedures.html
  13. I’m so glad that trope will die either way this season. Florida has Barkov and Bobrovsky both at $10M and Tkachuk at $9.5M. Vegas has Eichel at $10M, Stone at $9.5, Pieteangelo at $8.8.
  14. Haven’t heard much about Power signing an extension. I get the feeling that he is going to wait until next offseason. Mitts signing a shorter extension (2-4 years) would be interesting. Don’t see extensions like that signed a year early very often.
  15. Why do you put Chad in “ “ ? You don’t believe that his name is really Chad? I don’t get the negative attitude about this. He says he’s heard that Dahlin is very close to signing a long term deal very close to $10. What’s your problem with that? Dahlin doesn’t need to sign in July. He could wait until next year.
  16. Goalies don’t often maintain their high level through ages 30-34? You may be right though. I chose the word “hopefully” for a reason.
  17. I don’t understand the chart. what are the numbers inside the bars, and what does cumulative NHLe mean?
  18. Tough call. It would depend a lot on what kind of contract he would be willing to sign. I know we love Levi but you are talking about adding a top 5 goalie for hopefully 5 years. In combination with a couple other key moves, it could make the Sabres a Cup contender. I voted yes, but it hurts my heart.
  19. In a vacuum, I think he is worth quite a bit, definitely more than just 13OA, but it depends. In real life a GM will gather some decent idea about whether he would be interested in signing an extension. That info is going to heavily influence what I’d be willing to pay in a trade.
  20. I wouldn’t pay that for one year. I actually wouldn’t trade much of anything for one year. A contract agreement, at least in principle, would need to be part of the deal.
  21. The thing is that even with a purely long term view in mind, the Sabres could be better off with Hart than with Krebs or 13OA (for example). Krebs is looking alright but nothing that’s truly changing the team’s fortunes. A Hart/Levi tandem would be great for a few years. I remember 4 years ago Hart was like the best goalie prospect in the NHL and started his career hot. 4 years from now Levi could be at the exact same place that Hart is now. There is no guarantee that he is a world beater. I support bringing in a good young goalie to split starts with him. Better than pay even more for Helluybuck and signing him to a big fat long term contract that may age like poo.
  22. Hellebuyck is one of the 5 best goalies in the world. You don’t think he is worth 13OA, Krebs, and UPL? Those are 3 non-elite assets. A middle 6 or maybe just 3rd line forward, 13OA which could be just about anything, and UPL, who might not be any good at all. Hart is a soon to be 25 year old goalie with team control who has proven that he can be a viable mid level starting goalie at least. That’s not worth a Krebs or 13OA? I think that’s a reasonable value.
  23. 25th best, 7th worst
  24. Sure. If I had to guess, I’d agree, but I would have said the same about Savoie being there at 9. Sometimes weird stuff just happens. It’s reasonably possible that one of them is there at 13.
