I think that you are being unfair. @PerreaultForever simply wants the Sabres to bring in a couple of good, proven veterans that can play significant roles. He feels that would go a long way towards getting the team into the playoffs. He has long been consistent in this view.

Sabres New Ticket Sale Policy: “Hometown Advantage”
Curt replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
Sounds like they will likely use zip code as a factor, but it doesn’t specify which zip codes, or if there will be any other criteria. Article also says plans are not finalized. I think you can hold off on the outrage until the full details are released. -

Sabres New Ticket Sale Policy: “Hometown Advantage”
Curt replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
Yes, of course if the STH base was larger, and the team was better, that would help the crowd dynamics. But regardless of how many STHers there are, I think this is a good general policy because I think it’s preferable to give local fans first chance at tickets. -
Yeah, if Mitts has another season that closely mirrors this past one, he is probably looking at something in the range of 6x6.
-
Why? Owners are paying out a limited, set % of revenues. Why would they care how the players split up the money amongst themselves?

Fun idea. The 5 teams that would be on my no trade list are: Arizona NY Rangers NY Islanders Toronto Montreal Just avoiding the depressing situation of Arizona, the hellscape and high taxes of NYC, and the cultural fishbowl and high taxes of Tor and Mtl. Maybe I would swap Montreal for another team just because that is the closest team to my family.

Maple Leafs 1st round pick (2020) Rodion Amirov passes away at 21.
Curt replied to postseasonblues's topic in The Aud Club
His name was Rodion. Just sad. Always sucks when a young person loses the chance to live a full life. -
I’d guess he means that the locker room was filled with a bunch of ass hats.

I am naturally pretty skeptical. I tend to not believe outrageous claims made without any evidence. Especially when the person making them has been hospitalized a couple times for psychiatric reasons. It seems to me pretty unlikely that such a conspiracy could be kept for so long. The general story is that alien space craft and deceased crew was recovered in 1933 by the Italian government then eventually fell into the hands of the US government who have been studying it since, no? But anyway the point I was making was just that people are not going to care. Not enough to pour through hours of information from different sources in an attempt to assemble the various pieces of circumstantial evidence into a coherent picture. People have a lot more pressing and relevant things going on in their day to day lives. I get how this is super interesting to some people but you really shouldn’t be surprised if people, in general, continue to not care. If any of this was actually confirmed then this statement would be correct. Until something is confirmed and proof is provided, people will continue to mostly ignore it.
-
Most people will just ignore or not care about something until it has some kind of impact on their life. Along those lines: If there are aliens that have technology far surpassing our own, but they don’t wish to interfere in our affairs and just come to occasionally observe us, what would we even do about it? In what ways would it change my life?

It’s the best economic model that humans have come up with so far. I don’t think this is a result of an economic system. I think it’s the result of human nature as shaped by evolution.

Dahlin or Power, Who Will Have The Better Career?
Curt replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
I agree that rookie Dahlin was better. Year 2-3 Dahlin was not really. My comments were more geared towards what they can each be at peak. The skating, I think is pretty close. If Dahlin is better, I don’t think it’s significantly so. I could easily see Power improve this over the next 2-3 years to where he is better than Dahlin when at the same age. I agree that Dahlin has better puck handling skills. I think Power is comparable in this but isn’t as inclined to go for the flashy, dynamic play. -
Dahlin or Power, Who Will Have The Better Career?
Curt replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Dahlin vs Power Power might have more upside in terms of raw physical tools. He is bigger, at least as good a skater, maybe better, and has comparable puck skills. His size plus skating ability give him a pretty high ceiling defensively. Dahlin is more physical (and nastier) at this point, though I’d expect Power to catch up over the next few years. One big difference I see between the two that leans in favor of Dahlin is that while Power can calmly evaluate a situation and make a high quality play pretty consistently, Dahlin will sometimes create a dynamic play that no one knew was even possible. I can’t really pick one over the other. They will be different and a lot depends on how Power develops. I also want to cation people against putting too much stock into comparing rookie Power to rookie Dahlin. Very different situations. Different team environments and rookie Power was a year and a half older than rookie Dahlin was. -
Dahlin or Power, Who Will Have The Better Career?
Curt replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Your comment comes across as pretty negative, but I mostly agree. Samuelsson was fine last season but I was a little disappointed. I think he performed at the level of an average 2nd pair defenseman, which is fine, but I don’t think he brought anything that allowed Dahlin to do anything he couldn’t do with just about any other 2nd pair guy who plays decent defense. -

Curt replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
He may, but I don’t know if it’s possibly unless he bumps Dahlin off of PP1 duty, and I don’t know how that happens. -
Sharks trade Karlsson to Penguins in 3 team trade with Montreal
Curt replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
This is good for trade for Pittsburgh. Yeah, they are old. Yeah, their prospect group is bad. Yeah, they PROBABLY won’t be able to win another Cup with this group. The thing is, they have elite talent at the top of their lineup, and that gives them a shot at competing. As long as you have that, I think it makes sense to go for it. -
The summer doldrums of hockey. Propose an NHL rule change.
Curt replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
Scoring a goal with high stick or kicking it in would take skill for sure, but I think the issue is player safety. You don’t want guys swinging high sticks to try to score and accidentally clipping eachother in the face, or kicking their feet that have giant razor blades attached to the bottom. As for the points system change, I’m all for it. I could actually take it a step further. 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for an OT win, 0 for an OT loss. Really encourage these guys to go for wins in regulation. Also, 1 and 1 for a tie, because we should eliminate shootouts and bring back the tie too. -
I don’t think there is really anyone else. Olofsson will probably be filling Quinn’s spot on a scoring line and PP.
-
Yeah, it’s ok. I would say the same thing about Lance’s words. I feel like you are overthinking it.
-
Ok, yeah, I think you are just being nitpicky then. I think it’s totally plausible that they could pick Murray to be the guy who sits in the press box to start the season.
-
Well, he is reporting to you that those are the guys who compete to fill the roster spot. He is reporting that Olofsson will be kept around to try to fill the scoring void. I’m not sure what else you want from him. He can’t tell you what the lines will be to start the season. He can’t tell you that they are looking to sign a veteran scoring winger if they aren’t.
-
Olofsson will fill Quinn’s spot. All those other guys will compete for a roster spot. That’s just reporting the facts. I’m not sure what you are taking issue with.
-
They have a Tkachuk.
-
Honestly, he might. Debrincat didn’t have a particularly good season for them. 27 goals, 66 points. Tarasenko had injuries last season but put up 34-82 in 2020-21.
