Back in the tank days when we looked to the future this year was supposed to be competing and making deep playoff runs and looking like a contender. Now we're speculating whether or not we will make it into the playoffs and when/if Eichel will sign here, if Samson is a total bust, and if any of our prospects can contribute to a NHL roster. We continually kick the goalpost further back and act like we're almost good. Next year is when it will all click and everything will fall into place. Lets face the brass tax here, this team just isn't any good and Jack, Risto and ROR can't make up an entire NHL roster and Housley can't shine BS into gold. Kane is going to go unless we overpay and almost all of our vets are overpaid compared to what they contribute. We continually have to hand out bad contracts to keep players here because it's a bad team. I'd love nothing more than to hope and believe, but this team is continually an abysmal disappointment. How much longer before we have to shake out the roster and get sold another tank?

The issue isn't the D, but the fact that our forwards don't seem to be able to score. I often got into fights with my father about Bylsma and the D being the issue last year and his response that outside of ROR and Eichel our forwards were awful and underachievers. I have a tempered optimism but more and more I'm beginning to question whether or not he's correct.

I was ecstatic that it stayed out of the gulf so it weakened and is continuing weakening. Be safe and remember to tear out your carpet and the bottom of the drywall ASAP if you get flooded. You don't need black mold getting you sick while you're trying to rebuild your life. Hoping for the best for you!

I live in Pensacola. Not projected to hit here at all but it keeps shifting west. We've been taking in people from southern and central Florida around here. Not sure what would happen if it came into the gulf...

Maybe it's because it's been quiet, or maybe 'because Buffalo', but lately I feel like this might become a let down. Housley has no NHL HC experience and I've felt like he would be the D whisperer. There's no guarantee that he's going to improve the forwards or the defense. Remember that he was just an assistant and could have been in the right system with the right talent and that next year can be a total dumpster fire as well. I wanna believe and I've been excited all summer, but this nagging doubt is really creeping in.

Here's hoping he turns around and that contract becomes an absolute steal.

About right. Time to see if his stats were genuine or the result of the past system. I really like where I'm seeing Jbots showing paitence.

I'd love to see a Pommer - Samson 3rd line. If we extend Kane or some of our call-ups perform well that's 3 very interesting scoring lines to have in 2 years. Like deep playoff run interesting.

I think Bogosian is what he's always been. A decent defender that has issues staying healthy and will occasionally make out right dumb decisions. With the right linemate his mistakes can be covered, but I don't see his upside honestly getting great out of nowhere. Ennis will get better and more fun to watch but I think he's not going to improve and be one of our top guys. Which is unfortunate, because he was a great player to watch and I loved rooting for his success. Moulson will stay right where he was last year. Kind of meh, good on the powerplay, but slow. I think he's got one more season before it gets worse and retirement is a serious thought. Especially if he get injured. That leaves us with Girgensons. The guy who looked absolutely lost on the ice all season. If anyone was in the doghouse with Bylsma it was Girgs. Then he tried to get on board and lost all semblance of looking like he had under Nolan. He'll have the most dramatic rise again simply because I can imagine he has to be the most excited for a new coach. That alone will have him pushing himself harder. Plus, with him playing a more run and gun game that doesn't require him memorizing 9 dry erase board I think he'll trust his instincts more and have an extra step to his game. Having fun and playing the game his way will be dramatic for him.

I actually think I'd like to see Ruff in either an assistant coach position or working in Rochester as an assistant GM. Could just be nostalgia, but I think he's still got alot of tread on his tires for this team.

I'm gonna call BS on this. The rumor went around after Pat Lafontaine left that it was because he told Kim to get out because she knew nothing about hockey. My brother is friends​ with their daughter and has nothing but nice things to say about Kim so I doubt she inspired this much animosity in those that work for her and Terry.

I want nothing to do with him as a head coach. What are we going to be, Pittsburgh​ Lite? I don't want to imitate what's working now, I want to innovate to where the game will be.

This brings an interesting thought. What if Babcock was on board to come here but Murray's philosophy on how the game should be played and the team he wanted to assemble just rubbed him the wrong way and that was the biggest reason to go to Toronto?

I packed up my Sabres stuff that was around the house. I'm done watching a Dan Bylsma Sabres team. As long as he is the coach, I'm not a fan.
