CDC official covid-19 survival rates by age group. Age 0-19(99.997). Age 20-49(99.98). Age 50-69(99.5). Age 70+(94.6). This is not a deadly pandemic. There is only one age group that needs to take extra precautions. Absolutely vaccinate senior citizens, those with extenuating health risks, hospital workers, police and first responders. But after that it's really just a crap shoot. Everyone else has well over 99% survival rate. I'm over 50 and had covid myself. Yes it was worse than the flu for me by a bit, It kept me down for about 3 weeks. My Dad had it and he's in his 70s and his symptoms were about like a mild cold, lasted barely a week. My point is we can do both. We can get the most vulnerable vaccinated relatively fast and work on everyone else while we get some HOCKEY.

I really agree with your last two paragraphs. When we had those good starts the last couple of seasons the team felt like they could come back in games. But I think it gets harder to keep that up through the whole season and therefore the falling off as the season goes on. Also if I remember correctly one of those seasons the goaltending was really hot for a spell but then fell apart. I think it's really hard on a team to constantly have to bale out the goaltending.
-
Agreed. What do we need to do? Make Ullmark your number 1 and get a good backup. Or use Ullmark as the backup and get a true number 1 goalie
-
I sure hope so
-
We don't need stretches of good goaltending, we need consistently good goaltending. It seemed last year that the team would just start to get going good and then the goaltending would fall apart. I hope Ullmark really steps up this year. But we still need a good backup.

HaHa😁😁

All I know is that I will be very unhappy if we don't upgrade the goaltending. There is no way we can contend in the playoffs with what we have. No matter who we have up in front of them.

Obviously Jbot didn't watch the end of the state of the union address. Where is Nancy Pelosi when you need her.

Yes I agree winning makes it easy to cheer for your team. But like I said we were tied with the Habs in points at that game and they had a whole lot more energy. They've had as many losses this year as we've had basically. I do get Eleven's analogy though of the Yankees. I was wondering if it was something like that. -

That's great glad you got to see them win. We didn't get to go to the Dallas game because we were going to Buffalo. Bad choice on my part. Hopefully they'll win in Dallas next year. -

Not sure where to put this but I think here is a good spot. We flew in to Buffalo last week to watch a couple of games. We saw the sabres play Ottawa. The atmosphere was flat but we outnumbered Ottawa fans 10 to 1. Of course the sabres came out flat after the long break and never really got going. But the Habs game is the one I want to talk about. Coming into that game we were tied in points. And yet close to half of all the fans there were Habs fans. When the teams came out for the warm ups the Habs fans were standing 2-3 deep and had signs all over the glass all around their end. The sabres end only had 20-30 people around the glass and only one sign up at the glass. During the game the Habs fans were louder and more enthusiastic for their team. Again we were tied in points coming into that game. Obviously I don't live in Buffalo, these were the only games I've been to in Buffalo. I have gone to 3 games in Dallas. (They are always enthusiastic for their team as well.) We have lost all five games I've been too... I guess I will take one for the team and quit going to the games?. But a serious question. Why is there no energy and enthusiasm for the sabres? I know that I'm not happy with the state of the team at this point but I still will watch all their games and root for them to win every game. I guess I was just disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm at the games I went to. Seriously I would like to know what you all think is the reason for this. I listened to the clip of Duane's. I wish upper management would do more as well as ownership. But I support the team and always want the best outcome every game. -

"I hope it is not used more broadly and related to the rewriting of history." Unfortunately Pimlach, it is happening in our public schools today. It started slowly 15 years ago or so but is very prevalent now. -

Three pipes and a goal that should have been, with any kind of puck luck we win this game. Good game, not terribly disappointed, half expected a turd, woulda really liked the win though. Keep the momentum going. As stated earlier 4 points in their last 3 games. -
Any SS'ers here at the game, alot of bills fans here. I'm in section 441, nosebleed section

Wow!! Two great games. Really fun to watch. My feeling throughout this past off season was that Jbot should bring in a true number one goalie. They showed flashes of greatness but were terribly inconsistent last year. I think the pressure was to much trying to carry the team and keep them in games. But as long as we can keep outshooting our opponents and spend more time in the O zone, I think they will be fine this year. Carter has looked good, hope it continues. -

Can't wait GO SABRES!!!! -
Um.... Maybe you should cut your hair, it hasn't seemed to help the last three years ?

I bought my tickets on stub hub back in the middle of August. I did find out that they are season ticket holder seats, obviously not able to make it to those games.
-
We are going to two games one night apart ( Jan 28 & 30). Got the exact same seats same row section 110. They are priced $45 - $96 each accordingly. So yeah price is based on demand per game IMHO.

We're renting a car at the airport. Will do a little sightseeing if weather permits. Maybe the falls or make a short trip to Ithaca, got kin folk there. Lived in Buffalo maybe 42-43 years ago as a kid for a few years. Was actually there in the blizzard of 77. Now live in San Arkansas, lucky if we get 2-3 inches a year.

Wow, this is cool. We are flying in on Monday leaving on friday for the senators game on Tuesday and the Canadians game on Thursday January 28th and 30th. We went ahead and booked the harbor center, figuring the weather will probably not be good. Like Miles, only get to one away game a year in Dallas. This will be our first time to key bank. Looking forward to it. Good luck to you Miles. I also appreciate the info for around harbor center.

Unfortunately none of us ( myself included) truly know what coach we need, we're not privy to the room. All we have are our opinions and ideas. Which then leave us trusting the leadership to make the right call. Hope they make the right one. Tired of loosing.
