  1. I'm sure the purpose is to generate discussion. How many people would even bother if they listed Stafford and Leopold. I do see what you are saying, a better choice would have been Myers and Miller.
  2. They are just fans discussing trades. Is it any different then what goes on here? Vanek and Ott are probably the two players other teams and their fans are most likely to be interested in. I am sure that fans of other teams read this board and leave shaking their heads at some of the trade proposals mentioned.
  3. It's the same argument Bills fans have been discussing for years now. The Bills have been in a seemingly endless loop of mediocrity. Finishing high enough to miss out on the premier talent in the draft while being miles away from being an actual contender. The Sabres are stuck in a similar loop. I would take a top three draft pick in this years draft over the Sabres making the playoffs this season, over the long term it would be more beneficial to the franchise. .500 is still the mark to reach. The Sabres are currently 6 games under with 16 games to play. You are looking at a 11-5 run to make the playoffs.
  4. What an interesting turn of events this would be. Lindy Ruff behind the bench in Tampa would certainly change things in the East. Even more interesting if Stafford ended up in Tampa as well.
  5. What OV is right now is a 27 game changer. OV over his career has never fit the pattern of the average NHL goal scorer. He is a dynamic player that could easily rip off a string of 50 goal seasons again. OV has too much talent to hold him to the standards of the average NHL goal scorer. The Sabres have an owner with deep pockets, OV is the exact type of player that those deep pockets should be used on. A legit superstar with immense talent and an edge to his game. If OV is available, it will be as foolish not to go after him as it was not to go after Kovy.
  6. IMO, OV qualifies as a bit more than a "30 goal winger." 8 years in the league and his career low is 32. He has a 60+ goal season, three 50+ goal seasons, A 46 goal season and a 38 goal season to resume. 708 points in 584 career games. He is also only 27 years old. OV has a ton of hockey left in him. The Sabres don;t have three players in their organization that would equate equal value to OV. It's the Kovalchuk argument all over again. You just don't pass on that level of talent if and when it becomes available, unless your in Sabres Nation where there is no room for 50 goals scorers.
  7. The Sabres have 8 non-shootout wins in 31 games. I don't see them winning 4 out of 7 against anyone. Fans seem to be getting caught up in the endless loop of mediocrity. Another late season run just to miss out on the playoffs and a higher draft would be devastating to this franchise. This team needs to finally bottom out and state a complete rebuild.
  8. Curtis Joseph is not in the hall of fame. Is it a reflection of Miller or the quality of goal-tending in the league today. I find it hard to classify any goaltender currently in the NHL as elite.
  9. Some interesting facts noticed while looking at the standings. In their last ten games, the top four teams in the East are 29-11. Of the 11 remaining teams, none are above .500 over the last ten games. For those chasing the #1 pick. The bottom three teams in the West all have two games in hand on the Sabres. The Devils are the only team in the East under .500 (14-17) currently holding a playoff spot. The Rangers are the only team in the East .500 or better not holding a playoff spot. There are only 6 teams in the West .500 or better. Six teams in the East have a positive goal differential. The West also has six teams with a positive goal differential and one team (Vancouver) even.
  10. If only you were a GM of another NHL franchise. Miller is a very good NHL goalie, he is not "elite." When I read elite I think Roy, Hasek or Brodeur. Miller, IMO, is more on a level of a Ed Belfour and Curtis Joseph. In a right situation you can win with Miller, the Sabres are not close to that situation. Right now Miller is just wasting away.
  11. Their continued refusal to seriously address those issues that directly effect player safety. The NHLPA should be the ones mandating visors and calling for harsher penalties for player on player cheap shots.
  12. Another reason why the NHLPA is a joke.
  13. A quote within a quote? It's like Inception.
  14. Damn! Was that Rick Vaive or Mr. Fredrickson from 'UP'?
  15. Having Lupul out really hurts the Leafs.
  16. Marcus Foligno looks like he is really having fun out there. Stafford has absolute zero umph to his game at this point. What the hell happened to him? The Sabres and Leafs should play 10 times a year. Something may be wrong with the box scores at NHL.com, they seem to handing out a bunch of SHGs.
  17. Eric Staal scored on his own net during a delayed penalty during a Devils powerplay. You know, how they usually occur.
  18. Martin Brodeur credited with power play goal in Carolina.
  19. Linesman Steve Miller? I wonder if his friends call him "Maurice."

  21. Stafford needs to go to a team that has a solid foundation and strong leadership. Detroit is a perfect fit for a player like Stafford. I stated before I felt Stafford doesn't enjoy playing hockey. I don't know the guy, it has been an impression I have gotten over the years watching him play and listening/reading his comments.
  22. Lecavalier makes no sense for the Sabres. A 32 year old with declining numbers and a mega-contract would be a bad sign. This is a franchise in desperate need of substance not flash. Ryan? I would love to add a 26 year old perennial 30 goal scorer. The only way, IMO. the Ducks trade Ryan to Buffalo is to add a bigger piece than Stafford. Maybe Hiller & Ryan for Miller and Pominville. For the Ducks that would only represent a $1.8 mil addition of salary. .
  23. I would have been more impressed with Miller's "apology" if he had done it with a black eye. I hope when he "talked" to Kaleta it was with Kaleta pinning him up against his locker. Miller deserved an ass kicking for what he said about Kaleta no matter what he thought Kaleta said.
