  1. Every hockey fan should be feeling the loss. The NHL is losing one of it's best players. If this were the Sabres I would consider it devastating. There is no doubt that Lou Lamoriello will deal with this while keeping the Devils on track. That is the advantage of having one of the best GMs in all of sports.
  2. In other words they are doing pretty much what they have been doing since Hasek left.
  3. He would still be over paid, even at "free."
  4. So, basically Myers is costing the Sabres $9.5 million this year.
  5. Best case scenario is that these players are signed so the Sabres remain over the Cap Floor if they are able to trade Miller and Vanek. That is the only reason that makes sense. You don't bring in players like Tallinder or Sulzer to help you win games or the mythical "teach the young players."
  6. You'd have a better chance finding the Yeti than you would one of those.
  7. This smells 100% of Terry Pegula as did the Sabres interest in Daniel Briere.
  8. The answer is yes. As Nucci pointed out, the better teams will always find a way. To think that the Sabres are going to benefit in any way is wishful thinking.
  9. I thought maybe he was too busy working out with Gary Roberts to be bothered with contract negotiations. I see this working out in one of two ways. 1) Hodge Podge is a hold out that go into the season. or 2) His contract replaces Leino's as the worst on the team.
  10. I can't believe teams aren't lining up to sign this guy.
  11. Maybe he is hoping for Hodge Podge to sign an offer sheet so he can collect the four first rounders?
  12. Not "everyone", just you :P and Terry Pegula. For those not paying attention, I am all in favor of the complete overhaul that has been started. What's happens with Miller and Vanek will determine how committed to this process the Sabres are. Sekera being moved out for a 2nd is a good step. The Sabres need to cash in their two biggest chips before the exchange rate falls any further.
  13. It's roster filler, nothing more, nothing less. A team in the Sabres position won't be signing players with any "upside." Eklund? "Hard to Believe?"
  14. Calling Sulzer a "NHL Level defensemen" is a bit of a stretch, as is calling Pysyk & Ruhwedel "NHL Level Defensemen."
  15. I expect the Sabres to be bad this season, just not bad enough where Bagnall ever sees a single shift in Buffalo.
  16. Detroit got better with Alfredsson and Weiss. Boston got better with Erickson. Ottawa is Better with Ryan. Toronto is better with Clarkson. I know it's all "on paper" as they say, IMO, these teams made moves that improve their chances.
  17. Days like today you want to feel as if your team is part of the League. it might have well been "NBA Free Agent Frenzy" or "NFL Free Agent Frenzy" if you're a Sabre fan. It's not that many of the players moved would make a difference on this Sabres team, its that the Sabres aren't in a position for many of these players to make a difference. The start of free agency is like a holiday for hockey fans, today being a Sabre fan is like being an atheist on Christmas, sitting around wondering what it feels like having something to believe in.
  18. The Sabre need everything. All the Sabres have are question marks at best. Until some of the center prospects start playing and contributing on a nightly basis in a Sabre uniform I will still consider it a position of need.
  19. Though I agree with the sentiment, I hate what it represents. As fans we are watching our team sit on the sidelines doing nothing while "division rivals" are making moves to improve. it's just another reminder of where this franchise is.
  20. I'd rather have Charlie Coyle than Mikael Granlund. The Sabres need to stay away from the undersized centers. Coyle, Brodin and a 1st would be a pretty nice return for the Sabres. The problem is the Wild would still have to open up some cap space. The Wild will likely have to move Kyle Brodziak to make room.
  21. The lack of any Sabres free agent activity doesn't bother me at all. Seeing young stars like Ryan and Seguin get moved bothers me much more.
  22. Does Myers carry that value at this point, regardless of Boston's needs?
  23. If the US recognizes this action as a "coup" by law it cuts off all aid to Egypt.
  24. I don't think I'm underrating Ericsson. I'm taking in consideration where Dallas is as a franchise. They are rebuilding and can pick up a very young and very talented, that, by the way, already has 42 playoff games under his belt at age 21. It's rare that a player like that becomes available. The Sabres should be calling Boston.
